Hanoi, November 3 (Xinhua) — One person died Monday morning in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang after a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall. A livestock farm was also damaged, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

According to the report, the landslide caused soil and rocks to fall from the mountainside. The landslide occurred approximately 5 kilometers from residential areas.

New Delhi, November 3 (Xinhua) — At least 20 people were killed and many injured on Monday in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus in the southern Indian state of Telangana, police said.

The accident took place on the highway near Mirzaguda in Chevella of Rangareddy district, about 58 km west of Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana state.

"A truck loaded with gravel collided with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation bus near Mirzaguda village in Chevella on the Hyderabad-Bijapur National Highway this morning, killing 20 people and injuring many others, some seriously," a police official said.

Among the dead were the truck and bus drivers, as well as a three-month-old girl.

Senior police officer Mahesh Bhagwat told media that there were 72 people on the bus at the time of the accident.

"There was a head-on collision. It appears the dump truck was traveling at a very high speed and hit the bus," he said. "According to the conductor, there were approximately 72 people on the bus, and we are verifying this information."

According to police, the collision was so violent that the front of the bus was completely crushed and tons of gravel fell on it, trapping several passengers inside and killing them instantly.

Immediately after the crash, police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and began a massive rescue operation, using three excavators to clear debris and recover survivors.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of life in the accident and condolences to the families of the victims.

An International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) team today visited a substance critical to nuclear safety and security in Ukraine and reported damage as a result of recently reported military activities, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said today.

Following reports of the damage caused, the IAEA promptly dispatched a team to one of the affected substances that had been targeted. The IAEA team conducted a thorough walkdown of the area, gaining immediate, first-hand insights into the damage and assessing its impact on the safety and security of Ukraine's nuclear power plants (NPPs).

The team confirmed the damage to the substance's equipment and determined that there was a negative impact to the reliability of the off-site power supply to Ukrainian NPPs, thus affecting nuclear safety and security.

“Attacks on Ukraine's power grid represent an ever-present danger to nuclear safety and security to all nuclear facilities in Ukraine,” Director General Grossi added.

While restoration activities on the power grid are on-going, one NPP remains without one of its off-site power lines and further repair work is needed. The IAEA will continue to monitor the situation.

Beijing, November 3 (Xinhua) — The People's Bank of China (PBOC, central bank) has extended its bilateral currency swap agreement with the Bank of Korea (BoK).

The swap size is 400 billion yuan (approximately $56.44 billion), or 70 trillion South Korean won, the PBOC said in a statement.

The agreement is valid for five years with the possibility of further extension by mutual agreement, according to the statement.
