WASHINGTON, January 8 (Xinhua) — A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed a woman who tried to ram her car into police officers during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis, Minnesota's largest city, on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said.

"Our ICE officers were conducting an enforcement operation. They became stranded in the snow due to severe weather in Minneapolis. They were attempting to push their vehicle out of the way, and a woman attacked them and others by attempting to run them over and ram them with her vehicle," said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, calling it "an act of domestic terrorism."

"Our officer responded quickly and fired in self-defense to protect herself and others. As far as I know, she was injured and died," the minister said at a press conference in Brownsville, Texas.
