URUMQI, July 20 (Xinhua) — As of July 18, 100 e-commerce express freight trains had been sent from Urumqi in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Xi'an in Shaanxi Province in 2025, according to the China Railways Urumqi Branch.

In January this year, the first express freight train between Urumqi and Xi'an was launched, which was also the first such train to leave Xinjiang outside the region. Since the launch of the service, the speed of trains on this route has increased from 90 to 120 km per hour, and the travel time has been reduced by about 10 hours.

Baku, July 20 /Xinhua/ — China is confidently forming a new model of international cooperation based on cultural diversity, mutual respect and dialogue, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Respublika newspaper Emin Gasimov said in an interview with Xinhua, commenting on the results of his visit to the ministerial meeting of the Global Dialogue of Civilizations held in Beijing.

According to the agency's source, the meeting confirmed Beijing's growing role in promoting the Global Civilization Initiative, a platform focused on the peaceful coexistence of cultures, equal cooperation, and humanitarian interaction.

RAMALLAH, July 19 (Xinhua) — Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday issued a decree to hold elections for a new Palestinian National Council (PNC) by the end of 2025.

The decree was issued following a decision by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) at a meeting on July 17 to hold elections before the end of this year, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

The date of the elections will be determined by the decision of the Chairman of the Executive Committee, WAFA reported.

According to the agency, the NTC will include 350 members, two-thirds of whom will represent residents of Palestine itself, and the remaining third will represent the Palestinian diaspora abroad.

The Executive Committee will make a decision on the formation of a preparatory committee, which will be tasked with organizing the necessary events for holding the elections, VAFA added.

TEHRAN, July 19 (Xinhua) — Iran is ready to expand interaction and cooperation with Armenia, while simultaneously developing plans to develop bilateral relations in the future, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday.

M. Pezeshkian made the corresponding statement during a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. During the conversation, the two leaders also discussed Iran's nuclear program and the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.

M. Pezeshkian confirmed the “transparency and peaceful nature” of Iran’s nuclear activities, noting that his country will in no case submit to force, pressure or deprivation of the legitimate rights of its people.

TEHRAN, July 19 (Xinhua) — At least 21 people were killed and 37 injured in a bus accident on an intercity road in Iran's southern Fars province on Saturday, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported.

The report said the incident took place on the road from Firuzabad to Kawar districts at 11:00 local time/07:30 GMT.

IRNA reported, citing Hossein Darvishi, Managing Director of the Fars Red Crescent Society, that three rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of the incident.

H. Darvishi added that all the victims were taken to medical centers, and the bodies of the deceased were handed over to law enforcement agencies.

Moscow, July 19 (Xinhua) — Four people were killed in a road accident involving a truck and a passenger car in the Prokopyevsk District of Russia's Kemerovo Region, the regional police department's press service reported on Saturday.
