There are no advantages – 40% of Russians do not see the advantages of the digital ruble

What pros and cons do Russians see in the new digital currency?

The citizens surveyed believe that the new currency, which is to be launched in the foreseeable future, has its advantages. 10% of respondents named security, reliability, protection from fraudsters as advantages, another 3% each – ease of payments and the possibility of state control. There were significantly more disadvantages:

12% of Russians noted a low level of personal data protection; excessive control by the state – 8%; linking of electronic wallets to the Internet – 6%; difficulty of use – 4% of citizens.

Only 6% of survey participants did not see any disadvantages to the new form of payment – the same result was recorded a year earlier. The majority of citizens are wary of digital assets, and consider state control over the personal finances of the population to be excessive.

How do citizens rate their readiness to use digital rubles?

Russians also assessed their own awareness of the electronic ruble – 7% of citizens know well how the new currency works, 45% have a general idea, 43% have only heard the term. At the same time, few Russians want to personally use digital rubles:

24% would definitely not like to use a new form of payment; 27% said that they are rather not ready for experiments; another 14% of respondents found it difficult to answer; 26% of Russians are generally not against using the digital ruble; only 9% of people definitely want to try electronic currency.

According to the survey results, only 35% of respondents agree to use digital rubles. It is interesting that over the past two years, this figure has increased – previously, only 30% of Russians expressed such readiness.

Why are Russians wary of the digital ruble?

Experts assured that the skepticism of the population is the result of low awareness of digital assets: people are afraid of everything unknown, especially in the area of personal finance. The possibility of total state control also raises concerns, although the authorities promise that the level of supervision will be the same as in the banking system.

“It is necessary to conduct explanatory work and build up the information campaign as the digital ruble is prepared for a large-scale launch,” the Central Bank of the Russian Federation stated.

Let us recall that the project was supposed to start on July 1, but the regulator was forced to postpone the deadline due to the banks' unpreparedness to work with the platform. Now the Central Bank of the Russian Federation proposes to introduce the digital ruble no later than September 1, 2026. There is still more than a year left until the new deadline, but experts doubt that even then the new form of payment will be available to every citizen – commercial banks are actively opposing the project's implementation due to the risk of a significant reduction in commission income.

Russia and Abkhazia have approved plans for joint development until 2030

During the official visit to Abkhazia, the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation with representatives of the republic's Ministry of Economy. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects within the framework of existing intergovernmental agreements.

"Over the past 4 years, the Program for the Socioeconomic Development of the Republic of Abkhazia has been successfully implemented. The volume of trade between our countries has grown by 60%. According to the results of several months of 2025, the growth in trade turnover was about 30%. Russia provides support for the socioeconomic development of the Republic. We see enormous potential for the development of agriculture and tourism in the Republic. Abkhazia is a reliable and friendly partner for us. We have common ideas and initiatives, the same view of the situation in the world, which should become multipolar," said Alexander Novak.

One of the significant results of the meeting was the extension of the basic agreement on socio-economic cooperation until 2030. This will create the basis for a new five-year program for 2026–2030, which should come into force by the end of 2025.

"The difficulties that the republic faces are not easy, but with the support of the Russian Federation, we can overcome them. It is very important for us to implement all the programs that we have outlined. Based on the results of 2022-2025, we see positive results: trade turnover has grown significantly, GDP has increased by 187%. These are serious indicators. I am confident that the implementation of the current program will give a special impetus to the development of the economy of our Republic," said Badra Gunba, President of the Republic of Abkhazia.

During the visit, the 20th meeting of the Russian-Abkhaz Intergovernmental Commission was held, where the parties agreed on further steps for the development of the republic. In particular, the following will be continued: the implementation of the State Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Abkhazia for 2022-2025, the extension of the basic agreement on socio-economic cooperation until 2030.

In the coming years, it is planned to develop and implement sectoral development work maps in the areas of energy, tourism, transport, healthcare and education, social protection of the population, investment climate, real estate cadastre, customs and tax administration, and public utilities. "The main objective of these maps is to further develop the economy of Abkhazia in conjunction with the formation of a common social and economic space between our countries, and to create a favorable investment climate," commented Sergey Nazarov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia. "As well as eliminating infrastructure restrictions for economic development, attracting investment and tourists to the republic, expanding social protection measures for the population, improving the quality and accessibility of services provided to citizens of the republic in the social sphere, and the standard of living of the population of the republic as a whole."

The delegation also visited the site of the future Children's Republican Hospital, the Sukhum International Airport named after V.G. Ardzinba, to assess the progress of joint projects. The extension of the agreement until 2030 cements the long-term partnership between the two countries.

State-owned companies' purchases from SMEs exceeded 3.8 trillion rubles in the first half of 2025

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Ministry of Economic Development (Russia) – Ministry of Economic Development (Russia) –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

According to the results of the first half of 2025, the volume of purchases by government customers from small and medium-sized businesses under Federal Law 223 amounted to more than 3.8 trillion rubles, and the number of contracts exceeded 428 thousand. Almost 150 thousand SMEs became suppliers, which is 4.4% more than a year earlier.

"The participation of small and medium-sized businesses in state-owned company purchases gives them access to a stable sales market. We see how the number of SME suppliers increases year after year and the range of purchased products expands. If earlier small businesses mainly purchased office supplies, furniture or paper, now it is increasingly industrial products. This indicates that small businesses are able to meet the demand of large companies in terms of quality and volume. Compared to the same period last year, the number of SME suppliers who concluded contracts as a result of state purchases increased by more than 6.3 thousand and reached almost 150 thousand from all regions of Russia. By the end of 2025, the total volume of purchases from SMEs may exceed 9 trillion rubles," said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.

Alexander Novak emphasized the need to meet the payment deadlines for contracts with small and medium businesses. According to him, this is of strategic importance, since timely payments ensure the stability of SMEs, preventing cash flow gaps and creating conditions for the development of enterprises.

The leading regions in terms of the amount of purchases from small and medium businesses were Moscow (more than 1.2 trillion rubles), St. Petersburg (345 billion rubles), the Republic of Tatarstan (almost 250 billion rubles), Moscow Region (more than 200 billion rubles) and Sverdlovsk Region (almost 130 billion rubles).

"We are noting the positive dynamics of growth in the volume of purchases from small and medium-sized businesses in a number of regions. The Republic of Tatarstan showed significant growth – almost 25 billion rubles, Samara and Rostov regions – more than 24 and 23 billion, respectively, the Donetsk People's Republic – over 12 billion rubles, as well as the Yaroslavl region – more than 11.5 billion. The top ten leaders in terms of the rate of increase in purchases also included Primorsky Krai, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – with volumes of over 11.3 billion rubles, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – 11.3 billion, as well as the Irkutsk Region and the Udmurt Republic, where volumes exceeded 9 billion rubles. These results are an indicator of the active involvement of SMEs in the public procurement system and a reflection of targeted work to develop entrepreneurship in the regions," commented Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Tatyana Ilyushnikova.

For companies with state participation, there is a mandatory 25% quota for purchases from small and medium-sized businesses. It was established by the Government of the Russian Federation, and compliance is monitored by the SME Corporation and regional government agencies. Expanding the participation of small and medium-sized businesses in purchases under Federal Law No. 223 is one of the objectives of the federal project "Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy".

"Based on the results of the first half of 2025, manufacturing products came out on top in terms of purchase volumes from SME suppliers. Over the course of six months, the largest customers purchased over 1.3 trillion rubles worth of them. This is an important trend both for assessing the state of the SME sector in terms of competencies in supplying industrial products, including high-tech ones, and for continuing the qualitative growth of the segment. The leading industries also included services for scientific, engineering, technical and professional activities (209.1 billion rubles), as well as IT, where the purchase volume amounted to 170 billion rubles," said Alexander Isaevich, CEO of the SME Corporation.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development inspected the infrastructure of the Mamison resort

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On July 17, 2025, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Sergey Nazarov visited North Ossetia on a working visit. The main point of the trip was the all-season tourist and recreational complex "Mamison", where an off-site meeting was held with the participation of the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of North Ossetia Alania Marat Sokayev and representatives of "Kavkaz.RF".

During the meeting, key areas of further development of the resort were discussed, including the pace of construction of facilities and connection to utility networks. Sergey Nazarov inspected the transport, utilities and tourism infrastructure, including ski slopes, hotels, glampings and tent camps. In addition, the meeting participants tested the new Mamihdon trail from the upper cable car station to the tent camp (length over 4 km).

Today, the resort has two cable cars, 14 km of ski slopes, hotels, cafes and year-round recreation facilities. Due to the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry", 590 million rubles were allocated for infrastructure development in 2023-2024. In 2025-2027, financing in the amount of 150 million rubles is planned.

Construction and installation works at the 110/10 kV Mamison substation have been fully completed. In December 2024, an agreement was concluded between JSC Kavkaz.RF and PJSC Rosseti North Caucasus, ensuring the technological connection of the resort facilities. The redistribution of capacity in the amount of 4480 kW allows for the launch of the infrastructure in normal mode.

The main gas pipeline, 14.5 km long, is 90% complete, and 100% within the resort. Gas supply via this route is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The water intake unit with a capacity of 4,500 m³/day has been operating since 2014 and was transferred to the balance of the republican water utility in 2024. The resort is connected to the centralized water supply according to a temporary scheme: water comes directly from wells, bypassing reservoirs. This ensures the functioning of the facilities, but requires additional measures to modernize the system.

"The creation of the Mamison resort is not only a contribution to the tourist attractiveness of North Ossetia, but also to the development of the entire economy of the region. Over the past two years, we have managed to overcome infrastructure barriers and move to the stage of stable operation. Today, the task is to ensure the stable operation of all engineering systems, involve investors and continue the comprehensive development of the resort," emphasized Sergey Nazarov.

The second meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese working group on tourism was held via videoconference on July 10. The Russian side was headed by Deputy Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia Igor Maksimov, the Vietnamese side was headed by Deputy Chairman of the National Administration of Tourism of Vietnam Ha Van Sieu. The event was also attended by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russian and Vietnamese tourism industries and airlines.

The chairmen noted the growth of mutual tourist flows between the countries. According to the results of 2024, the tourist exchange exceeded 250 thousand people – this is 74% more than in 2023.

"The positive dynamics of growth in tourist flows is primarily due to the resumption of direct flights and the gradual easing of the visa regime. A visa-free entry regime for up to 45 days has been introduced for Russian tourists. Citizens of Vietnam, in turn, can apply for an electronic visa to Russia," said Igor Maksimov.

The Russian side separately thanked the Vietnamese partners for the initiative to sign an interdepartmental memorandum on cooperation in the field of tourism in May this year. The document is aimed at exchanging best practices in the field of tourism and hospitality, mutual promotion and further strengthening of business cooperation.

Business cooperation between the two countries is developing: Russian and Vietnamese partners hold joint events, participate in international exhibitions and forums. The interaction of tourist aggregators is strengthening – the Ostrovok website offers about 26 thousand accommodation options available for booking in Vietnam.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working together to create comfortable and safe conditions for tourists to stay in both countries.

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Avito Travel: Glamping popularity has doubled in a year

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Ministry of Economic Development (Russia) – Ministry of Economic Development (Russia) –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In the summer of 2025, travelers are most actively booking daily glampings in the Moscow region, Tatarstan, Karelia and Krasnodar Krai.

According to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Avito Travel, the number of bookings in glamping sites has doubled year-on-year. Most often, such sites are rented this summer in the Moscow Region (14% of all bookings), Tatarstan (10%), Karelia (6%), Krasnodar Region (5%) and Nizhny Novgorod Region (4%).

Among the most popular regions, the demand for glamping sites has grown the most in Samara (6.4 times), Voronezh (3.6 times) and Leningrad regions (2.7 times), Tatarstan (2.6 times), Bashkortostan, Tyumen and Nizhny Novgorod regions (2.4 times in each region). In Moscow region, 80% more such sites were booked than in the summer of last year.

The largest selection of glamping sites in the summer of 2025 is presented in the Moscow Region: every fourth such facility is located here. The share of the Sverdlovsk Region is 7%, Tatarstan – 6%, Krasnodar Krai, Bashkortostan and Leningrad Region – 4% each. The most noticeable increase in the supply of glamping sites year-on-year was noted in the Saratov (2.7 times) and Samara Regions (2.4 times), Adygea, Voronezh and Chelyabinsk Regions (2.3 times), as well as Bashkortostan and Ryazan Region (2.2 times).

"Interest in modular hotels in Russia continues to grow, and the state actively supports their creation. Such hotels can be located in popular tourist locations – nature reserves, national parks, near national tourist routes, as well as in special economic zones, which helps to attract investment. The popularity of the program among businesses and regions is due to the growing demand of tourists for outdoor recreation, where the bulk of modular hotels are concentrated. Over the past three years, about 60 regions have reported the implementation of more than 800 projects, putting into operation more than 13 thousand rooms. This confirms the demand for the program and its contribution to the development of the country's tourism infrastructure," said Alimbek Khidzev, Director of the Tourism Development Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.

On average, Russians rent glampings for two days — this figure has not changed over the year. For longer periods, travelers stay in such facilities in Krasnodar Krai (three days), Karelia, Adygea, Tver, Saratov and Yaroslavl regions (three days each).

"Glamping in Russia has ceased to be a niche format, which we can see from the multiple growth of bookings this summer. And the average number of guests, which is four people, allows us to say that this format is not only for couples and solo travelers who are looking for an option to get closer to nature and live in a photogenic interior with comfort, but also for a family audience. For entrepreneurs, the glamping format is good because such objects can be located in unique natural locations – on the coast, in a mountain valley or near a beautiful reservoir. So not only the object itself, but also the natural environment begins to work on the impressions of travelers. As a result, glamping is turning into a full-fledged alternative to hotels – but with an atmosphere of privacy and closeness to nature," commented Artem Kromochkin, Director of Avito Travel.

Financial news: Mortgages continued to grow steadily in June.

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Central Bank of Russia –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

According to preliminary data, the population's mortgage debt increased by 0.6% over the month after 0.5% in May. The bulk of loans issued are still accounted for by state programs.

The consumer loan portfolio decreased by 0.4% after near-zero dynamics in May, including due to a halt in the growth of debt on credit cards.

Taking into account investments in bonds, banks' claims on companies grew by 0.9% in June (0.4% a month earlier). Ruble loans increased mainly (0.7%), with a significant portion of the increase coming from housing developers.

Household funds in banks increased by a noticeable 1.5% after the seasonally weak dynamics of May (0.2%). Corporate funds, on the contrary, decreased slightly (-0.2% after 0.4% in May).

The sector's profit (excluding dividends from Russian subsidiary banks) for the month amounted to 392 billion rubles, which is one third higher than the May result. However, the growth is mainly due to a one-time release of reserves and is not indicative. Since the beginning of the year, banks have earned 1.7 trillion rubles, as in the same period last year.
