With Rosneft's support, events marking the start of Maslenitsa (Maslenitsa) began in the Company's regions of operation. The celebration brought together tens of thousands of people across the country and became a highlight of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
Pancakes—a symbol of the sun and the main attribute of Maslenitsa festivities—were baked according to the culinary traditions of various peoples of the country in factories and offices, on city squares and in social institutions.
RN-Yuganskneftegaz, RN-Vankor, Kondaneft, and Tyumenneftegaz created a special atmosphere at their remote production facilities. For employees working in the harsh northern conditions, they organized a Maslenitsa feast—thousands of fragrant pancakes with various fillings—so that even far from home, the oil workers could experience the warmth and grandeur of the folk holiday.
In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, RN-Northwest hosted folk festivals at the Vladimirovsky Country Resort. Heroic games, round dances, and an introduction to the culinary traditions of the Ladoga region immersed hotel guests in the distinctive culture of the region's indigenous peoples. Rosneft gas station customers and their families enjoyed signature pancakes from the Lakhtinsky gas station chef at the Zerno café.
On the first day of Maslenitsa week in Yamal, ROSPAN INTERNATIONAL volunteers baked a record-breaking 2,500 pancakes—a stack of them exceeding five meters. SevKomNeftegaz held a culinary festival for oil workers, where they baked pancakes using recipes from across Russia. KharampurNeftegaz organized a culinary masterclass for children from the Northern Lights orphanage, where the children learned to prepare national dishes.
In the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Samotlorneftegaz organized a farewell to winter for Nizhnevartovsk residents with a rich cultural and entertainment program, including songs, games, and, of course, hot pancakes. Everyone was able to take a commemorative photo with a life-size polar bear, the recognizable symbol of Rosneft.
Orenburgneft organized a festival of national traditions for schoolchildren in the Orenburg region to bid farewell to winter. Students presented traditional costumes and held a tasting of pancakes prepared according to Tatar, Bashkir, Chuvash, and Mordvin recipes. On Sakhalin, oil workers from Sakhalinmorneftegaz-Shelf visited disabled people and senior citizens from a sponsored nursing home, presenting them with Maslenitsa treats and essential medical equipment.
Volunteers from Rosneft's Samara group of companies dedicated the holiday to the Day of National Cuisine of the Peoples of the Volga Region – they sampled Chuvash, Mordvin, and Tatar pancakes while listening to folklore performances.
The Saratov Oil Refinery hosted Maslenitsa festivities for its employees, their families, and veteran oil workers. Guests competed in a national costume contest, composed lively ditties, and danced a grand "Round Dance of the Peoples of Russia" to a medley of folk melodies.
Thanks to the Angarsk Petrochemical Company, residents of the Angara region participated in a folk farewell to winter, complete with songs, dances, contests, master classes, and traditional treats. In Khabarovsk Krai, volunteers from the Komsomolsk Oil Refinery revealed the secrets of making traditional Russian pancakes to children from a sponsored orphanage.
In the Republic of Bashkortostan, home to representatives of over 110 nationalities, Bashneft Group companies combined Maslenitsa with winter activities: cross-country skiing, felt boot hockey, snow volleyball, and family races. The festivities concluded with the "Russia – Our Common Home" festival, which blended the culinary traditions of various nations: alongside Russian blini, guests enjoyed Bashkir chak-chak, Tatar echpochmak, and Chuvash khuplu.
Rosneft's workforce includes representatives of many nationalities, and the Company operates in most regions of the country. The large-scale Maslenitsa celebration is the first of Rosneft's mass events in support of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
