Moscow is a city of good deeds. All caring people, including entrepreneurs and manufacturing companies, join charity events and programs. They support those who need it, implement sports, scientific and social projects.

On International Charity Day, which is celebrated on September 5, a mos.ru correspondent learned what good initiatives Moscow entrepreneurs are implementing, who they are helping, and what social responsibility of business is.

Smart Medallion for Guide Dogs

The leading Russian developer and manufacturer of smart cards and RFID identifiers for various sectors of the economy, Smart Systems, decided several years ago to abandon part of its internal corporate costs and direct the funds to charity. Today, the company is implementing several good projects on an ongoing basis.

"It is important for businesses to participate in all areas of city life, including charitable, social, educational, and research projects. Successful companies are usually the first to test, implement, and use cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements. They have resources and unique products that can change someone's life for the better and bring specific, tangible benefits. We are implementing several good initiatives – from funding scientific projects to direct deliveries of goods free of charge," said Nikita Kozhemyakin, CEO of the company.

Thus, the enterprise supports the training and canine center "Assistant Dogs" and the school for training guide dogs of the All-Russian Society of the Blind. The organizations are supplied with syringes for chipping animals and smart medallions of their own design free of charge.

"The medallion has an NFC tag built into it. If you touch it with a smartphone or scan the QR code, the website of the canine organization will open. It says that this is a service dog and needs to be returned to its owner as soon as possible, and you can also find contact information, learn the animal's name, and ways to help it not get nervous when separated from its owner. In 2025, the medallion joined the collection of the Technical Museum in Brno (Czech Republic), where it became an exhibit of the "Culture of the Blind" exhibition and took pride of place next to the silver commemorative coin of Louis Braille," added Nikita Kozhemyakin.

In addition, the company is donating paper to the All-Russian Society of the Blind for the production of certificates for visually impaired people with an NFC tag. It leads to a page containing important legal information. This makes it easier for a person to confirm that they need to go to a café or clinic accompanied by a service dog.

Grants for good deeds and digital desks

Participation in good initiatives has become a tradition for companies – residents of the special economic zone (SEZ) "Technopolis Moscow".

For example, the pharmaceutical company Binnopharm Group holds a grant competition called “Give Good.” The company’s employees can receive funds to implement their ideas — from landscaping and repairing social institutions to creating creative spaces for children.

Other initiatives also receive support: collecting humanitarian aid, the New Year's campaign "Yolka Dobra", visits to animal shelters. The company's employees organized an inclusive picnic, purchased special desks for home schooling for children with musculoskeletal disorders and mental disabilities, paid for the work of nannies in families where they were needed.

Another company, a resident of the SEZ, NexTouch, implements many good projects to support education, inclusive education, youth initiatives, scientific research, and also helps those who find themselves in a difficult life situation. The company equips children's hospices, schools, libraries, medical institutions and veterans' organizations throughout Russia with interactive panels, digital desks, projection systems and other modern equipment free of charge. The devices can be used by people with hearing, vision and motor impairments.

"Charity has become one of the company's missions. Modern technological devices should be accessible to everyone without exception and improve the quality of life. For example, the induction system we developed, which allows people with hearing impairments to receive information, we install free of charge in all manufactured devices by default. Charitable support is also provided both within the framework of the company's systemic, regular projects, and through targeted charity events," said Vladimir Krikushenko, the company's general director.

The company's employees are happy to participate in good campaigns. For example, they deliver humanitarian aid to residents of new regions of Russia and medical care products to hospice patients, and become blood donors. The company's employees also actively helped organize a large tournament for blind football players.

Customization of clothes and children's drawings

Good initiatives are also implemented by the project participants "Made in Moscow"They support people with cancer, orphans and animals in shelters.

"The project companies receive support from the city, feel their responsibility and strive to help those who are in particular need. Many charity events are related to helping participants in a special military operation and inclusion. In addition, we provide a site on Bolotnaya Square for charity meetings. There is a stage, screens, a tribune, trade equipment and other necessary infrastructure," said Alexander Belyaev, head of the Made in Moscow project.

Clothing manufacturer WKS offers customers to buy a stylish tortuga (waterproof jacket) and immediately order a unique decoration for it – embroidery with an image of a dog. The funds received from customization are sent to the rehabilitation center for temporarily homeless animals "Yuna". Another Moscow brand, TintBerry, created a limited series of nail polish and began to transfer part of the proceeds from its sale to a center for rescuing orphaned bears in the Tver region.

Cosmetics maker Eat My teams up with foundation "Butterfly Children", which helps children with epidermolysis bullosa. The summer series of lip balms came out with labels created by the foundation's wards, and the proceeds from sales go to the treatment and rehabilitation of children. Another brand, La Fabrique, collaborated with the Konstantin Khabensky Foundation and donated part of the proceeds for three months to help children and young people with brain tumors.

The United Europe Holding Group of Companies has launched a charity project called "Give Joy". Buyers are offered body care products and household chemicals with unusual labels, the layouts for which were drawn by children from the organizations under their care. The project supports the Bolohovskaya School for students with disabilities in the Tula Region, as well as the Pokrov and Kovcheg children's centers. Almost 200 children live in them.

If part of the proceeds from the sale are directed to good deeds, then each buyer becomes a benefactor. To help, it is enough to buy a useful product.

Everyone can contribute and support those in need with the help of charity service on the mos.ru portal. To do this, you can select one or more NPOs and make a transfer. For those who find it difficult to make a choice, there is the “Help everyone” option. Then the payment will be divided equally between all the charitable programs in the category. You can also help the selected organizations regularly: to do this, you need to log in to the mos.ru portal and after the first transfer, click on the “Connect auto payment” button. This form of support allows non-profit organizations to plan their activities, increase the number of wards and launch long-term assistance programs.

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — Correctly understanding the history of World War II, resolutely safeguarding the post-war world order, firmly upholding international impartiality and justice, preventing the resurgence of fascism and preventing the repetition of historical tragedies are the best way to honor the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and a common responsibility that all countries should shoulder, a think tank said in a report released Friday.

The report, titled “Historical Retrospect, Upholding Justice – The Great Contribution of the Main Theater of War in the East to the World Anti-Fascist War,” was published by the Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with the news agency of the same name.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

According to the report, revealing the historical truth is a prerequisite for better creation of the future. Currently, there are still misconceptions in the approach to the history of World War II. Only by respecting history and advocating an objective and fair position can we deeply understand and learn from historical experience and open the way to the future.

The report stresses the need to resolutely oppose erroneous views and actions aimed at justifying aggression and distorting history, objectively present a complete picture of the World Anti-Fascist War, and correctly recognize the historical contributions of the peoples of the world and the Chinese people.

The Second World War profoundly changed the world order and the course of human history. Faced with the catastrophic consequences of military action, various countries made every effort to avoid new wars and maintain peace. Thanks to these efforts, international organizations and mechanisms, with the UN at their core, were gradually created and fundamental norms governing international relations were established. This played an important role in maintaining global peace over the next 8 decades, the report notes.

The document also calls for strong support for a UN-centric international system, the continued promotion of an equitable and orderly multipolar world, and the continued promotion of equitable and inclusive economic globalization.

It also stresses the need to vigilantly confront the resurgence of fascism, implement genuine multilateralism and promote the formation of a fairer and more reasonable system of global governance in order to firmly uphold international justice. -0-

GUANGZHOU, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — A train carrying electronic products made in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area departed from the West Zengcheng Railway Station in Guangzhou City, south China's Guangdong Province, on Thursday. The arrival of the freight train, which runs weekly on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transportation route, in Uzbekistan marks the improvement of the efficiency and smoothness of the new international logistics channel linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Li Siqiang, a representative of Guangzhou Jiaotou International Train Operation and Management Co., Ltd., said that about 30 standard containers depart from Zengcheng Station every week and are transported along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal freight route, a combination of rail and road transportation. Compared with the traditional route, where containers leave China via Horgos, the transportation time via the multimodal route can be shortened by more than 2 days, and the transportation cost of each container can be reduced by at least 500 yuan (about 70 US dollars).

On May 12, the first container train to operate on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transportation route departed from Zengcheng West Railway Station. The goods were delivered by rail to Kashgar North Railway Station /Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Northwest China/, and then transferred to road transport and, leaving the country through the Irkeshtam checkpoint, arrived in Uzbekistan.

As of August this year, more than 470 standard containers of cargo, with a total value of over 60 million yuan, have been shipped from Zengcheng West Railway Station along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route.

Currently, there are daily trains departing from Guangzhou on China-Europe routes, which cover many SCO member states such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. These routes have become an important trade and economic corridor connecting the Greater Bay Area with Eurasia.

According to Huangpu Customs, the value of goods shipped from Zengcheng West Railway Station to other SCO member countries reached nearly 4 billion yuan from January to August 2025. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — At China's steel mills, noisy factory floors are giving way to intelligent systems where control centers analyze production data streams in real time, artificial intelligence (AI) adjusts furnace temperatures based on the situation, and robots spot defects with pinpoint accuracy.

For industry veterans, the transformation is astounding, and experts say it shows how cutting-edge technology is breathing new life into traditional sectors.

“As a cutting-edge technology in the digital era, AI offers new hope for breaking through long-standing bottlenecks in the steel industry,” said Zhang Longqiang, head of the China Institute of Metallurgical Information and Standardization. He added that intelligent algorithms are already driving progress in process optimization, quality control and supply chain management.

Data from the China Iron and Steel Association shows that 95.1 percent of Chinese steel enterprises have incorporated digital transformation strategies into their overall development plans, 82.9 percent have established centralized intelligent control centers, and 63.4 percent have adopted 3D visualization and simulation systems to build digital factories.

Steel companies are also using AI to advance their green transition. The group’s upgraded carbon-neutral digital platform, HBIS, designed as a multi-functional and multi-scenario intelligent system, provides accurate energy consumption forecasting and can double the efficiency of carbon demand analysis.

Looking ahead, Wang Guodong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stressed that the steel industry should accelerate the integration of industrial internet, big data and AI technologies; move from end processing to source control and whole-process control with elements of human-machine interaction and autonomous unmanned operations; and make coordinated progress in reducing carbon emissions, reducing pollution, expanding green development and achieving sustainable growth.

From factory floors to farmland to service centers, AI initiatives are spreading across China’s economy. Drones are streamlining logistics in Shenzhen, southern China’s Guangdong Province, AI-powered robots are helping manage greenhouses in eastern China’s Shandong, and intelligent voice systems in Hefei, the capital of eastern China’s Anhui Province, are serving users around the world. These elements of China’s AI development highlight the country’s advantages in rich data resources, a mature industrial system, and wide application scenarios.

China's State Council recently released a set of guidelines for promoting the AI initiative, providing a systematic action plan for the application of AI in various sectors and supporting high-quality socio-economic development.

Experts say the AI initiative marks a new stage in the digital revolution. Zhong Xinlong, a researcher at the China Information Industry Development Center, made a powerful analogy: If the last decade was about building a vast information superhighway, the next decade will be about deploying countless groups of intelligent agents with decision-making and collaboration capabilities on that highway.

The guidelines propose supporting the creation of open AI communities and the pooling and opening of models, tools and datasets to advance them, which will address key needs of technological innovation and reduce barriers to R&D.

Vice President of AI unicorn MiniMax Yan Yijun said that this will provide a solid foundation for technology-oriented enterprises to conduct R&D, provide development guidance and market space to expand industry solutions and participate in the intelligent transformation of traditional industries, and create more business opportunities and accelerate global cooperation.

According to a statement from China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the implementation of the AI initiative will include introducing supportive policies and accelerating the development of standards for various sectors and industries. It will facilitate major projects such as the development of AI vouchers and encourage demonstration cases by guiding AI model developers, research institutes and leading enterprises to form interdisciplinary teams, while encouraging local governments and companies to explore new development models.

The launch of the initiative is not only a key step in stimulating the creation of productive forces of new quality, but also an inevitable requirement for advancing the digital economy towards an intelligent economy and an intelligent society, said Ho Fupeng, director of the innovation-oriented development center of the State Research and Development Corporation.

As industry experts have noted, what is truly transforming society is not the technology itself, but the depth and breadth of its integration into production and everyday life. As AI permeates a wide range of industries in China and innovation flourishes with institutional support, the systemic restructuring of the country's socio-economic development is gaining momentum. -0-

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Students and graduates from 33 leading technical universities presented their ideas for Russia's digital economy at IT CAMP 2025, an educational program that annually helps young people find employment in the country's largest companies. Ksenia Eremina, a student at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, took first place as part of the IT_fountain team following the public defense of her projects.

The summer youth program IT CAMP is held with the support of the Scientific and Technological University "Sirius" for the fifth year in a row. Together with Gazprom Neft, its partners are 28 Russian technology companies, including: "Astra Group", P7, YADRO, Orion soft, "Trukonf", "Rostelecom", "Uralchem", SberTech and others.

"We created IT CAMP as a platform where talents and technologies intersect," said Leonid Potapov, head of the IT CAMP program. "Every year, out of several thousand students who pass the selection, a hundred future leaders of the digital industry meet here with those who determine its development today. Two weeks of complete immersion is an ideal environment for the birth of new ideas and the beginning of a brilliant career. We give young specialists the opportunity not just to find a job, but to find their place at the forefront of the Russian IT industry."

Participants of IT CAMP 2025 united into project teams and worked together to solve business cases related to the development of Russian IT products in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and industrial automation.

For two weeks, young specialists studied technology trends together with experts from IT companies. Based on the new knowledge, the teams developed their own digital ideas for business. Following the defense of their projects before the jury, the best graduates joined the talent pool of IT CAMP partner companies, and 35 of them received offers from Gazprom Neft.

"Gazprom Neft already has more than ten thousand specialists with IT competencies, and the demand for IT personnel continues to grow," said Anton Dumin, IT Director of Gazprom Neft. "Over the years of IT CAMP, several hundred of its graduates have gone from beginners to middle developers, analysts and architects. Most of them are now working in our IT cluster. We expect that the share of young people in our team will grow by another 5-6 percent in the next two years."

"University education lays a fundamental foundation, forms a broad outlook and teaches systemic thinking," says Ilya Dementyev, Rector of Gazprom Neft Corporate University. "This is a necessary, but not always sufficient stage for starting a career in a high-tech company. Projects such as IT CAMP allow you to supplement the knowledge you received at the university. Here, in conditions close to real ones, students not only gain applied skills, but can also synchronize their level of training with our current needs. We see this as an effective tool that helps young specialists make a smooth transition from theory to practice."

The only representative of the Polytechnic University at IT CAMP, Ksenia Eremina, graduated from the PhysMech Institute with a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. According to the girl, she decided to do something related to IT in her master's degree program and chose the Gazprom Neft and Polytechnic Institute's corporate master's program "Enterprise IT Infrastructure" at IKNK.

"Thanks to the corporate Master's program, I got to IT CAMP," Ksenia shared. "Our project was called "Model for assessing IT solutions in the oil industry." The goal was to optimize the process of selecting fields and generating project documentation. We developed a product based on LLM agents to automate one of the business processes related to document flow. Our team was made up of managers and specialists involved in analytics in IT products, so each participant was full of ideas. As a result of the discussions, we were able to come to a common vision of the solution and implement it. I am grateful to the guys for being able to unite, everyone gave 100 percent, thanks to which our team achieved such high results. I would like to especially thank our team mentor Daniil Rochev, who supported and inspired us. I would also like to thank Oleg Felixovich Mikhailov, former head of the development department at the CompMechLab laboratory at SPbPU, for the opportunities he provided and for believing in me as a specialist. I would also like to especially mention Igor Valerievich Nikiforov, a teacher at the Higher School of Software Engineering, and thank him for supporting students in all their endeavors."

IT CAMP is an all-Russian educational program that is included in the events of the Decade of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation. IT CAMP is held every summer at the Sirius University of Science and Technology. Over the past five years, more than 10,000 students have taken part in the selection, and more than 440 young IT specialists have graduated from the program.

In 2025, the program for the first time combined two educational tracks – for university students and young IT specialists from large industry companies. SPbGASU has developed a new method for restoring objects after explosions

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Alexander Rudenko

Some buildings and structures in our country are in a limited-operability and even emergency condition after an explosive impact, as well as due to their high physical wear. Professor of the Department of Construction Organization of SPbGASU Alexander Rudenko proposed a new comprehensive approach to their restoration, ensuring high efficiency, safety, information content, remote assessment of the results of work at all stages of production. We talk to him about the essence and novelty of the approach.

– What exactly do you research in your scientific work?

– The topic of my research is “Organization of repair and restoration works of buildings after explosive impact based on an integrated approach using laser scanning, neural network and 4D modeling”. It is carried out within the framework of the grant of SPbGASU 20-NPR-25. The work contains an analytical review of the fundamental theoretical provisions of the physical processes of explosive impact on barriers. The existing approaches to predicting the degree of damage to buildings with the clarification of the mathematical calculation model are studied. The factors influencing the duration and quality of work on the restoration and repair of construction projects, as well as the possible nature of damage and categories of the technical condition of buildings after explosive impact are studied. An organizational and technological mechanism for the restoration and repair of construction projects is proposed.

The relevance and scientific and practical significance of the study are determined by the fact that a significant number of buildings in the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov, Volgograd, Saratov regions and in new regions of Russia have been damaged by external explosive impact. In addition, capital construction projects on the balance sheet have a high degree of physical depreciation. Thus, according to Rosstat data for 2023, the depreciation of at least 257.4 million square meters of administrative, industrial and residential buildings exceeded 66 percent.

The organization of restoration and repair of buildings in these conditions requires a different – comprehensive approach that ensures high efficiency, information content, safety, remote access to the assessment of results at all stages of work and multi-channel access to results. This can be implemented on the basis of the stages of both the "planning-control" complex and a set of tools – laser scanning, neural network and 3D modeling, which to date has not been sufficiently studied and developed.

The research work identifies, groups and ranks the most significant factors affecting the duration and quality of restoration and repair. A regression analysis was performed and a mathematical model of the impact of factors on the efficiency of construction and installation works (C&I) was developed. Using neural network modeling tools, an algorithm for planning the production of C&I using the methods of critical works (CW), continuous use of resources (CURS) and continuous development of work fronts (CDW). Based on the above, proposals were developed for planning and monitoring the implementation of C&I using a set of laser scanning tools, neural network and 4D modeling.

– Is this precisely what makes your research novel?

– Based on the results of the research work, provisions of scientific and practical significance have been developed: firstly, the design and mathematical model for predictive assessment of the degree of damage and technical condition of a building has been adjusted taking into account the parameters of explosive impact; secondly, a regression and analytical model has been developed for taking into account the impact of significant factors on the duration and quality of restoration and repair; thirdly, an organizational and technological model for restoration and repair of construction projects has been developed based on the following tools: laser scanning, 4D and neural network modeling; fourthly, an aggregated "object-node" method for restoration and repair of construction projects has been developed based on optimal design and organizational and technological solutions with the calculation for each proposed solution of such basic spatial-technological and resource parameters as the number of work fronts and sections, flow capacity, production rate, labor intensity, labor costs, consumption of building materials, estimated cost of work; fifthly, a software and information complex for calendar planning and dynamic adjustment of repairs to construction projects has been developed in the integrated PyCharm environment of the Python programming language, which makes it possible to determine the duration of work using the methods of R&D, MKR, NOFR, as well as their organizational and technological reliability.

Thus, a comprehensive approach is proposed that allows interactive implementation of planning and control processes as a single system with the ability to dynamically adjust construction and monitoring work during their implementation. All of the above is the essence of the novelty of the study.

– In what main directions can the expected results of your research be used?

– In science, the obtained dependencies allow predicting the consequences of explosive impact and possible categories of technical condition of buildings depending on the expected power and type of shock-explosive impact on the building. The proposed aggregated approach, information and organizational-technological models of restoration and repair will allow modeling all production parameters and the nature of their dependencies. In real construction, the application of the research results will significantly increase the efficiency of planning and monitoring of construction and installation works using the methods of R&D, MKR, NOFR taking into account the risks during their implementation. In the educational process, the obtained results are appropriate to use in the study of disciplines considering the technical inspection of capital construction projects, technical operation of buildings and structures, organization, planning and management in the process of repair and restoration works.
