The 13th Moscow Motorcycle Festival will be held on September 27 at Vorobyovy Gory. Thousands of motorcyclists will gather there to finish the season. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.

"We invite Muscovites to one of the main events of this year. The capital's motorcycle festivals are an opportunity to remind all participants of the importance of following traffic rules and responsible behavior on the roads. The Active Citizen project has begun vote for the best photographs of the capital's flora and fauna. Participants will determine the winners of the "Wildlife of Moscow" contest. Photos taken in the city depicting wild animals, plants or mushrooms were accepted.

Both professional photographers and amateurs aged six and over could participate. This year, 1,108 works were submitted to the photo contest, of which the jury selected 35 best. The Moskvich labor project, which united student brigades, has ended in the capital. More than 500 participants of the Moscow branch of the Russian Student Brigades worked in the city this summer: they erected construction sites, took care of passenger comfort on trains, served clients at airports and restaurants, created IT products for companies, and worked as junior and mid-level medical personnel.

"Moscow student teams are a real help to the city and an invaluable experience for the guys themselves. The students not only showed themselves professionally at a variety of sites – from the metro and airports to modern construction sites and clinics, but also demonstrated their creative and athletic talents," said Margarita Savinkina, head of the "Youth of Moscow" project.

Students and schoolchildren combined work with creativity and sports. For example, the children took part in the art object competition "Victory was forged by labor", the Spartakiad "Festival of yard games", the creative festival "Capital of creativity – we work and create" and media competitions.

From conductors to doctors

Schoolchildren aged 14 to 17 worked at stations of the Moscow Central Circle, Moscow Central Diameters, the capital's railway stations and at the A4 children's centre. Members of the service teams admitted students to universities, checked in passengers for flights at Vnukovo International Airport, were waiters on high-speed trains Moscow-St. Petersburg and in business lounges at railway stations. The 16th century Church of the Ascension of the Lord has been restored in the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. Sergei Sobyanin spoke about this in his blog.

"Last year, we began implementing a comprehensive project to improve the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. We are tidying up and creating new play and sports areas, planting trees. This year, we opened a new embankment. At the same time, we carried out the restoration of a unique monument of Russian architecture – the tent-roofed Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Kolomenskoye," the Moscow Mayor wrote.

In 1994, the church was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the Kremlin, Red Square and the Novodevichy Convent. Careful and thorough restoration lasted two and a half years. Particular attention was paid to the tent: the brickwork was cleaned of dirt and old plaster, treated with a biocidal composition, primed, and a new coating and paint were applied. Modern materials ensured good vapor permeability, the masonry will "breathe".

The cross and the apple (a decorative element in the form of a ball located under the cross) were cleaned and covered with gilding. The craftsmen cleaned the white-stone kokoshniks, architraves, carved capitals and lancet windows, and also restored the lost parts.

The royal seat is a canopy on the eastern facade of the temple, crowned with a keel-shaped zakomara with an image of a double-headed eagle. It was once painted with ochre, terracotta and green paint. During the restoration, specialists did not paint over or make up for the loss of white stone, deciding to turn this place into a museum.

The historic staircase with stirrups was cleared, coated with red lead and painted. The base of the building was preserved in its historic form. Small losses and unevenness were intentionally left and preserved to emphasize the age of the church, which will soon be 500 years old. Inside, the brickwork was cleared of plaster, lost fragments were replaced, and the white stone capitals with carvings were restored.

The church is scheduled to open on the feast day of the Ascension of the Lord in May 2026. By that time, the tyablov iconostasis will be returned to the upper aisle, and a new exhibition about the history of the building will be prepared in the basement. Andrey Batalov, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, became the scientific consultant for its creation.

The exhibition will be open all year round, and the church itself will be open only during warm weather. Services will be held on the main church holidays, and the rest of the time the church will function as a museum.

Specialists from the municipal services complex have begun upgrading the large gas control station "Akademichesky" in the southwest of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

"The city is conducting systematic work to update gas pressure control points, which are responsible for reducing gas pressure to certain values and maintaining them within specified limits. We have begun repairing the Akademichesky gas pressure control point, which supplies gas to public utilities and residential areas in the Akademichesky and Gagarinsky districts," said Pyotr Biryukov.

The decision to modernize was made due to the long-term operation of the gas equipment. The work will be carried out in a short time without disconnecting consumers from the gas supply. As part of the project, the outdated equipment will be replaced with a modern cabinet-type gas control unit with a capacity of more than 1.6 thousand cubic meters per hour, manufactured from Russian components at the in-house production of Mosgaz JSC. It has a high degree of reliability and reduced noise characteristics, which meets all safety requirements. Additionally, the supply gas pipelines will be updated.
