Closing ceremony of the fourth Open World Astronomy Olympiad (2025).

The closing ceremony of the fourth Open World Astronomy Olympiad (Open World Astronomy Olympiad 2025) took place at the Sirius Federal University. The intellectual competition, held from September 20 to 27, brought together teams of high school students from more than 15 countries. All six members of the Russian team won gold medals, repeating their success from all three years of participation. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov congratulated the winners.

"President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin recently called for every effort to ensure Russia remains a leader in space exploration and research. Our schoolchildren's remarkable victory at the International Astronomy Olympiad demonstrates that we have the key to maintaining this leadership: talented and passionate students. We are proud that all six team members once again won gold. I thank their parents, teachers, and mentors for their support and contribution to their preparation. I wish our winners continued interest in astronomy and a worthy application of their talents for the benefit of our entire country," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

Ekaterina Churkina, Vladimir Zinin, Nikolai Gamynin, Olga Karaseva, Ivan Pruglo, and Margarita Tsvetkova won gold medals. Ekaterina Churkina became the overall winner of the Olympiad.

"I congratulate all the participants and winners of the Open International Astronomy Olympiad! Hosting such a high-level competition in Russia is a landmark event, underscoring our commitment to developing scientific cooperation. The most talented schoolchildren from around the world have gathered at the Sirius Federal Campus. In 2025, 18 participants from Russia, Belarus, Mongolia, Armenia, Peru, Egypt, Bangladesh, and Venezuela won gold medals. Sixteen schoolchildren each won silver and bronze medals.

Teams of six were formed from schoolchildren under 18. Students from 10 countries participated in the Olympiad in person, and high school students from Venezuela, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and other countries joined them online. The competition consisted of four rounds: observation, practical, theoretical, and testing. All assignments were completed in English.

The Open World Astronomy Olympiad is an international competition for high school students, targeting students from the CIS, SCO, BRICS, and other friendly countries. The event aims to promote astronomy education, identify talented students, and strengthen international academic ties.

As a reminder, in 2024, 22 participants won gold medals: representatives from Russia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Armenia, and Peru. Russian schoolchildren were awarded six gold medals. Ekaterina Churkina of Russia was the overall winner.

Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Government Staff Dmitry Grigorenko held a working meeting with representatives of digital platforms from Russia and China at the World Expo for Digital Commerce in Hangzhou. The key topic of the dialogue was a discussion of current trends in digital economy regulation and the exchange of experience between the two countries.

The meeting focused on a new federal law adopted in Russia in July of this year, which establishes basic rules for regulating digital intermediary platforms. The law aims to increase the transparency of online platforms and protect consumer rights. Key innovations include mandatory identification of sellers through state information systems, as well as a ban on the distribution of certain categories of goods, such as dietary supplements and medications, without a state registration certificate.

According to the law, foreign platforms must also comply with the new rules. To this end, foreign partners are required to establish branches or representative offices in Russia.

"Next year, a law regulating the platform economy will come into force, including new rules for foreign platforms. It's important for us to coordinate our efforts with our Chinese partners to ensure the practical implementation of these regulations and the protection of citizens' interests on digital platforms," noted Dmitry Grigorenko.

Russia was one of the first countries to adopt a law regulating the platform economy. This July, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law. The new measures will come into effect on October 1, 2026.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev, as well as representatives of the largest e-commerce platforms from Russia and China.

On World Tourism Day, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov congratulated industry workers and travelers and presented tourist data for the first eight months of this year.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the significance of the achieved indicators.

"According to Rosstat, the number of tourist trips within Russia increased by 5% over the first eight months compared to the same period last year, exceeding 61 million. In our country, measures under the national project 'Tourism and Hospitality' are helping to develop domestic tourism. Thanks to them, regions are improving infrastructure and creating new tourism products. This contributes to the goal set by President Vladimir Putin of ensuring that tourism accounts for 5% of the country's GDP and 140 million tourist trips by 2030," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

He wished Russians to travel more, discovering the beauty and sights of the country.

Dmitry Chernyshenko added that, thanks to support measures from the federal government, positive trends have been maintained for the fifth year. Following a decline caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the number of tourist trips is steadily growing: 66.5 million in 2021 (40% more than in 2020), 73.1 million in 2022 (almost 10% more than in 2021), 83.6 million in 2023 (14% more than in 2022), and 90 million in 2024 (almost 8% more than in 2023).

Last year, 2024, was a record year for tourist trips across Russia, with the number increasing by 37% compared to 2021.

Based on the results of the first eight months of 2025, Moscow (8.2 million trips), Krasnodar Krai (6.5 million), and St. Petersburg (4.8 million) traditionally received the largest number of tourists. The top six also included the Moscow Region (3.8 million), the Republic of Tatarstan (2 million), and the Republic of Crimea (1.8 million). Particularly impressive growth rates were demonstrated by regions actively developing tourism infrastructure: the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Republic of Adygea, the Republic of Kalmykia, Tver Oblast, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast.

"It's encouraging to see domestic tourism growing in popularity. This shows that our efforts to diversify the tourism market are paying off," commented Maxim Reshetnikov.

On World Tourism Day, celebrated on September 27, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Maxim Reshetnikov also congratulated industry workers and travelers.

"I congratulate all industry representatives on this holiday. I wish you creative and professional growth, new ideas, health, and inspiration. I am confident that through our joint efforts, we will make our regions even more attractive for travel," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
