Beijing, October 15 (Xinhua) — China and Russia are seeking to establish a new Eurasian logistics artery along a cross-border route connecting Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province, the Hunchun Port of Jilin Province, and the Russian capital. A cooperation agreement to this effect was recently signed by Jilin Province Logistics Group Co., Ltd. and the Russian company RZD Logistics.

According to the official website of the State Postal Administration of China, citing local media, the agreement includes a number of initiatives to accelerate efforts to build the highway, including streamlining customs clearance procedures, upgrading cargo handling technologies, and improving transport efficiency. These measures are aimed at reducing cross-border logistics costs for products in competitive industries in Jilin Province, such as automotive manufacturing and agricultural processing.

The agreement also outlined the goal of achieving the throughput capacity of the future Changchun-Hunchun-Moscow logistics route, comparable to that of the existing Manzhouli-Zabaikalsk border crossing. Manzhouli is considered the largest land border crossing for cargo turnover between China and Russia.

The Jilin Provincial Logistics Corporation promised that, to ensure the smooth operation of the aforementioned route, the corporation is committed to continuously improving the efficiency of rail service organization, updating the operating models of relevant checkpoints, and accelerating steps toward creating an integrated service system in the "logistics, production, and trade" format.

RZD Logistics acknowledged Jilin Province's status as a logistics hub in Northeast China, offering a natural geographic advantage for connecting China and Russia. In addition to building the aforementioned logistics artery, the company also expressed its intention to work with its Jilin partner to optimize the existing Hunchun-Kamyshovaya-Moscow transport line, leveraging the capacity of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Jilin Provincial Border Crossing.

Minsk, October 15 (Xinhua) — Belarus's exports of goods and services from January to August 2025 reached $32.8 billion, exceeding the same period last year by $300 million. The corresponding information was published by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Economy on Tuesday.

Services accounted for the bulk of the growth, growing by nearly $1 billion, primarily due to the transportation and construction sectors. Meanwhile, sales of Belarusian goods were 2.5% lower than last year. The decline was due to volume shipments amid rising average export prices.

The Belarusian Ministry of Economy's press service noted that the country continues to strengthen its position in distant foreign markets. Products under the "Made in Belarus" brand are increasingly gaining consumer trust in Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia. Exports to these regions are showing strong growth: exports to Latin America increased by 1.5 times, and to Asian countries by 1.3 times. Exports to Africa have maintained high growth rates for the second year in a row.

A gradual slowdown in imports has also been observed, contributing to an improvement in the foreign trade balance. In August, the negative balance narrowed by $200 million.

Minsk, October 15 (Xinhua) — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced on Tuesday that the country is ready to conclude a major deal with the United States, but with due consideration for Belarusian interests. The Belarusian leader's press service released the statement on the same day.

Speaking about Belarus-US relations, the Belarusian president noted that the trend of resuming bilateral dialogue has gained "some positive momentum." He recalled that several meetings with US presidential special envoys have recently taken place in Minsk.

"Experience has shown that the Americans are conducting all these contacts solely for pragmatic purposes. Of course, our policy of resuming relations with the US must also be built solely in Belarus's interests," the Belarusian head of state noted.

At the same time, according to A. Lukashenko, Belarus can make certain compromises and take the first steps toward meeting its objectives, expecting the Americans to fulfill their promises. This is what is happening, for example, with the lifting of sanctions against the Belarusian airline Belavia. The Belarusian leader noted that the US has announced the lifting of sanctions against the airline, but a number of questions remain.

"Lifting these sanctions doesn't completely free Belavia from a number of obligations. And we can't always fly, repair, or buy aircraft everywhere. The Americans acknowledge this. They say it will take some time to resolve this. Fine. We'll wait for their global proposals, a grand deal, as they say. We're ready for that. But our interests must also be taken into account. And everything must be fair, as we once agreed with the Americans," Lukashenko concluded.

China's Sustainable Development Examples Are a Source of Inspiration and Practical Cooperation, Says Kazakhstani Expert

Almaty, October 15 (Xinhua) — China has become a global leader in electric vehicle production, renewable energy, and high-speed rail construction. It's important for Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia to see their neighbor demonstrating tangible examples of sustainable development that can serve as a source of inspiration and practical cooperation, Serik Korzhumbayev, editor-in-chief of the DKnews.kz news agency, stated in a recent exclusive interview with Xinhua.

He shared that he had the opportunity to visit China several times and observe the results of modernization in various provinces. "I was particularly impressed by how China managed to create entire innovation clusters in a short time. In Lanzhou, I saw ion therapy centers in operation and clean energy projects being developed. In Yunnan, I was able to become familiar with green economy practices and modern agricultural technologies. In Shanghai and Tianjin, I saw the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in industry and urban infrastructure," he shared his impressions.

According to S. Korzhumbaev, China's successes during the 14th Five-Year Plan had a stabilizing effect on the global economy. China not only ensured high levels of domestic employment, creating approximately 60 million jobs, but also became a driver for many markets, including those in the Central Asian region.

According to the expert, China's experience is important for Kazakhstan, as well as other Central Asian countries, in two respects. First, it concerns resilience to global crises, where China has acted as a powerful balancing factor. Second, it concerns the development of a green economy, which sets a benchmark for Central Asian countries, where energy transition and economic diversification are also pressing issues.

He described China's five-year plans as a powerful strategic tool. He believes that, unlike many countries where long-term planning is often dependent on the political cycle, China demonstrates continuity and resilience.

"In Central Asia, we see the direct impact of this systemic approach. As part of the Belt and Road Initiative, Kazakhstan has become a key partner for China, and it is precisely thanks to the planned nature of the Chinese economy that infrastructure and logistics projects have a long-term perspective. During my trips to Xinjiang and Gansu, I saw how transport corridors are creating new growth points that are directly linked to Kazakhstan," he added.

According to S. Korzhumbaev, this confirms that the institutional advantage of the Chinese model lies in its ability to link domestic development with international cooperation.

Sharing his expectations for the 15-year plan, he expressed the view that China will focus on innovation and security. AI, the digital economy, and biotechnology will be developed, and there will be increased attention to energy and food independence.

He noted that this is important for Kazakhstan and Central Asia for two reasons. "First, China's technological development opens up new opportunities for regional cooperation, particularly in transport, logistics, and digital technologies. Second, China's resilience to global crises serves as a factor of stability for the entire region. Of course, challenges arise from global instability and changing supply chains, but China has already demonstrated its ability to turn challenges into opportunities," the expert explained.

He also added that China's experience in modernization is valuable for the countries of Central Asia. According to him, the main distinguishing feature of the Chinese model is that it takes into account national characteristics and combines innovation with tradition—this is especially relevant for countries in the region, where it is crucial to find a balance between modernization and the preservation of cultural identity.

"Other countries can benefit from China's experience in strategic planning, infrastructure development, education, and human capital. Chinese initiatives—whether the Belt and Road Initiative or the Global Development Initiative—are creating new platforms for cooperation. For Kazakhstan, this means expanded opportunities for integration into the global economy and access to modern technologies," the expert added.

“I am convinced that China will continue to play a positive role, and its management philosophy and sustainable approach to development will be in demand throughout the world,” concluded S. Korzhumbaev. –0–

BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) — The number of border crossings in both directions through Alashankou Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reached 156,000 in the first three quarters of 2025, up 0.41 percent year-on-year, according to a statement posted on the official website of Alashankou City Hall.

With the introduction of a visa-free regime between China and Kazakhstan and the continued strengthening of cross-border tourism cooperation, the Alashankou checkpoint is stepping up efforts to provide better services to facilitate exchanges between the people of China and Central Asian countries.

Alashankou Customs provides multilingual customs clearance guides to more accurately explain customs and passport control procedures to arriving and departing travelers. Using intelligent equipment such as millimeter-wave body monitoring systems, temperature screening barriers, and X-ray baggage inspection machines, Alashankou has created an integrated screening channel, significantly reducing the time required to complete this procedure.

At the same time, the city's customs officials are also strengthening exchanges and interactions with various joint inspection structures, improving the structure of the customs and passport control process, and taking comprehensive measures to simplify procedures in order to increase the efficiency of customs inspection at the border crossing. -0-

Nengkaman, 40, is from Qiaoqi Zang Township, Baoxing County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province.

In 2007, Nengkaman and her husband, Atai, opened a Tibetan-style guesthouse in their home, where they hosted children on educational excursions and took them to the pastures to introduce them to nature and local life.

In 2014, she began photographing the everyday life and culture of her native region. While photographing, she discovered that the skills of yak wool weaving and the weaving of colorful Qiaoqi belts, once mandatory for local women, were gradually becoming endangered as fewer and fewer people took up the craft. She then decided to preserve these traditional arts and pass them on to future generations.

In 2016, she founded the textile workshop "Nengkaman," where she combines traditional techniques with contemporary design to create backpacks, scarves, belts, and other handcrafted items. As orders increased, she began to recruit rural women, who now have the opportunity to earn extra income in their free time.

Today, she is the city's inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage "Qiaoqi Colored Belt Weaving Technique", and her workshop has been recognized as an excellent workshop for intangible cultural heritage in Sichuan Province.
