The event was held with the support of the Guizhou branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Georgian Business House “Belt and Road”.

The event aims to promote the comprehensive development of practical cooperation between Guizhou and Georgia within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as deepen interaction between sister cities, including joint projects in the fields of economics, trade, culture, and tourism.

Welcoming speeches were delivered to the participants by Cheng Mei, Deputy Director of the Department of External Relations of the Guizhou Branch of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Magda Bolotashvili, Director General of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Zurab Agladze, Vice President of the Georgian Employers' Association.

BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — Southwest China's trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) grew 11.8 percent year-on-year to 264.08 billion yuan (about 37.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of 2025, the news portal chinanews.com.cn reported on Friday.

According to Chongqing Customs data, Chongqing's foreign trade turnover from January to September was 581.98 billion yuan, up 12.3 percent year-on-year.

During this period, ASEAN was Chongqing's largest trading partner, with trade turnover between the two reaching 99.76 billion yuan, an increase of 24.2 percent. Furthermore, the city's trade volumes with Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia increased by 17.5 percent, 38 percent, and 76 percent, respectively.

In the first three quarters, Chongqing exported electromechanical products worth 360.82 billion yuan, up 9.8 percent year-on-year and accounting for 90 percent of Chongqing's total exports. Laptop exports reached 113.28 billion yuan, maintaining Chongqing's leading position in this category in China.

From January to September, Chongqing's automobile exports totaled 33.73 billion yuan, up 6.4 percent year-on-year. In particular, electric vehicle exports reached 9.79 billion yuan, up 69.1 percent. BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — East China's Shandong Province's trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative grew 9.2 percent year-on-year to 1.68 trillion yuan (about 236.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of 2025, accounting for 64.2 percent of the province's total foreign trade during the same period, local media reported, citing a source at a press conference held Thursday by the Shandong Provincial People's Government Information Office.

In particular, exports amounted to 917.35 billion yuan, an increase of 10.1 percent year-on-year, and imports amounted to 762.33 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2 percent.

During the reporting period, Shandong Province recorded an increase in trade turnover with 128 Belt and Road countries, 34 more than in the same period last year, with 109 of these countries experiencing double-digit growth. In particular, the province's trade turnover with Central Asian countries grew by 53.5 percent.

It is reported that from January to September of this year, Shandong Province imported 16 categories of consumer goods from Belt and Road countries worth a total of 544.19 billion yuan, an 8.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. These goods accounted for 71.4 percent of the province's total imports from these countries. Furthermore, Shandong Province's exports of electromechanical products to these countries increased by 15.1 percent during the same period, while high-tech exports also increased by 15.1 percent.

Beijing, October 17 (Xinhua) — From September 15 to October 14, the month following the introduction of a visa-free regime for Russian citizens, the number of Russian citizens arriving in Heilongjiang Province (northeast China) totaled 46,000, a 28.4 percent increase year-on-year. Specifically, the number of visa-free entries by Russian citizens exceeded 43,000, the Heilongjiang Daily reported on Friday.

As a reminder, China introduced a trial visa-free regime for Russian citizens holding regular passports from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2026. Russian citizens holding valid passports can visit China under the visa-free regime for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchanging visits, and transit purposes. Maxim Reshetnikov indicated that the work is focused on three areas. The first is ensuring macroeconomic stability, which involves interaction with the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance on monetary and fiscal policy. The second is supporting industries, primarily mechanical engineering and industrial production. And the third is developing the institutional environment, including property rights and regulation of new economic sectors. All these areas are currently consolidated into two key documents: the National Business Model and the Productivity Improvement Project. Their implementation should be a significant step toward improving the country's economic efficiency, the minister stated.

TOKYO, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) — Former Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama died on Friday at the age of 101, the Kyodo News Agency reported.

T. Murayama, born on March 3, 1924, in Oita Prefecture, became chairman of the Japan Socialist Party in 1993 and served as prime minister from June 1994 to January 1996.

On August 15, 1995, he issued a cabinet-approved statement in his own name to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, stating that "Japan, following a mistaken national policy, has advanced along the road to war… and has inflicted great harm and suffering on the people of many countries, especially in Asia, through its colonial rule and aggression."

T. Murayama also expressed “deep remorse” and offered a “sincere apology,” using unprecedented language to apologize for Japan’s wartime actions, which was widely noted by the international community.

T. Murayama retired from politics in 2000 and continued to promote the cause of peace.

On August 15, 2020, on the 25th anniversary of his statement, he emphasized the importance of acknowledging historical facts, apologized, and expressed his determination to refrain from aggression and colonial rule. Murayama expressed hope that his statement would continue to promote reconciliation, peace, and development in Japan, Asia, and the world.
