With the support of the RN-Nyaganneftegaz Company (part of Rosneft), work has begun on the construction of a modern water treatment complex in the city of Nyagan. The project is being implemented within the framework of a cooperation agreement between Rosneft and the government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.

The construction of the water treatment complex will increase the capacity of Nyagan's water treatment facilities threefold, to 30 thousand m³ of water per day. In Yugra, the main sources of urban water supply are underground waters. At the same time, due to the peculiarities of geology, marshy and peaty soils, there is an increased concentration of manganese and iron in underground waters. Therefore, the project provides for equipping the new complex with a system that allows removing manganese ions from natural water. This will provide more than 60 thousand residents of Nyagan with high-quality drinking water that meets modern sanitary standards.

During the construction, a filtration shop, a pumping station and clean water reservoirs will be built. In addition, an intermediate pumping station will be built on the site of the city's only Hugotsky water intake.

Rosneft adheres to the principles of high social responsibility and pays special attention to creating a favorable environment in the regions of its presence by actively participating in the socio-economic development of the territories.

Rosneft and the Government of the Orenburg Region presented a new tourist route

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft and the Ministry of Economic Development, Investment, Tourism and Foreign Relations of the Orenburg Region presented a new route, Steppe Stories. The presentation of the tourist auto route took place in the city of Buzuluk at the Bashneft gas station (part of Rosneft). The guests of the event also took part in an educational quiz with a drawing of useful travel prizes.

The tourism project is the result of joint work of the Company and regional authorities aimed at developing domestic tourism and infrastructure. Rosneft creates comfortable conditions for car travelers, improving the quality of services at its petrol stations and actively developing roadside services.

The new route has already been presented on Rosneft’s special information and service platform – “Horizons of Russia: Come with us!" Thanks to the unique navigation functionality, all interesting locations become stops on the route, which the car tourist can independently collect and change at any time during the trip, based on personal interests and taking into account the location of the services necessary for car tourists.

The 250 km route runs from the city of Buzuluk to Aksakovo through the picturesque steppe landscapes of Western Orenburg. Travelers following from Buzuluk to the north of the region will be able to visit the Buzuluksky Bor National Park, the largest relict forest in the steppe Eurasia, about 10 thousand years old. Here you can find giant pines with a circumference of more than 4 meters. One of the oldest trees in Russia, the Queen Pine, also grows in the park; its age exceeds 300 years.

The next attraction on the way is the cave hermitage of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in Buzuluk. The great Russian writer Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy visited the elder who lived in these caves. The monastery had an important spiritual significance for the residents of the Orenburg and Samara provinces. Today, tourists and pilgrims can visit the holy spring, chapel and cells, which are connected by vaulted galleries.

A poetic and musical point on the route is the village of Vorontsovka, founded by Count Vorontsov in the 18th century. Here, the future bard Vladimir Vysotsky first picked up a guitar. The village club named after him keeps rare photographs, a guitar, letters and memories of the legendary guest.

Further along the route, travelers will be able to visit the village of Derzhavino, the estate of the Derzhavin family, founded in 1750 by the father of the famous Russian poet and statesman of the Enlightenment era. The village has preserved an 18th-century church built with funds from Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin.

The village of Preobrazhenka in the Buzuluk district is the Orenburg estate of the Karamzin family. It was here that the "Count of Russian History" Nikolai Karamzin was born almost 300 years ago.

The route ends in the Buguruslan district, where in July 2025, after a large-scale restoration, the museum-reserve of the writer Sergei Aksakov was opened. On an area of more than 500 hectares, not only the buildings, but also the entire historical landscape have been restored.

There are Bashneft gas stations located at an optimal distance along the route, where tourists can fill up their car with guaranteed high-quality fuel, have a comfortable rest and buy necessary goods on the road, including locally produced goods.

Reference:

The Orenburg Region is one of the key regions of Rosneft's operations. "Steppe Stories" became the third tourist route developed by Rosneft and the Ministry of Economic Development, Investment, Tourism and Foreign Relations of the Orenburg Region. In 2024, as part of the "Horizons of Russia" project, the interregional route "Power of Nature" was opened from Orenburg to the capital of Bashkortostan, Ufa, and "Relict Pearl" – from the capital of the region to the Buzuluk Forest.

The Bashneft network of petrol stations in the region includes 89 petrol stations. The retail network of NK Rosneft is the largest in the Russian Federation in terms of geographical coverage and number of stations, and the Rosneft petrol station brand is one of the leaders in Russia in terms of recognition and fuel quality. In total, the Company operates about 3,000 petrol stations.

Rosneft actively supports initiatives to develop domestic tourism – together with partners, over 40 routes for car travel across regions of the Russian Federation have already been developed. Some of them are already presented on the Horizons of Russia platform. With its help, you can plan a trip to interesting places through the infrastructure of roadside services and Rosneft gas stations in the constructor mode.

Samotlorneftegaz increases the reliability of oil production equipment

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Specialists at Samotlorneftegaz, one of Rosneft's key production assets, have developed a system to protect electric centrifugal pumps from mechanical impurities. The new technology can significantly increase the reliability and efficiency of the equipment. As a result of installing innovative filters in the design, the equipment's failure rate has increased by 2.3 times to 206 days. The economic effect of the innovation in the next five years may amount to about 850 million rubles.

Mechanical impurities contained in formation fluid are one of the main reasons for the failure of electric centrifugal pumps. Small-sized pumps, due to the specific design, especially need protection from sand and proppant. After successful pilot tests at the Samotlor field, two of the most effective Russian-made filters were identified. The gravity-slot filter combines two cleaning methods at once – mechanical filtration and separation of impurities using centrifugal forces. The efficiency of the volume-wire filter is ensured by the unique properties of the filter material. The equipment allows for the screening of mechanical impurities up to 100 micrometers in size and has a throughput capacity of up to 200 cubic meters of liquid per day.

The use of filters to improve the reliability of small-sized pumps has great potential. The production fund of Samotlorneftegaz includes more than 300 non-standard diameter wells with significant removal of mechanical impurities.

Development of technological potential is one of the key elements of Rosneft's strategy. The company prioritizes innovation activities, defining technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.

Rosneft Publishes Sustainability Report for 2024

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The Board of Directors of PJSC NK Rosneft approved Sustainability Report 2024.

The document presents the Company's achievements in the field of sustainable development, reflects its contribution to the development of national projects of the Russian Federation, discloses the main economic and environmental indicators, information on scientific and social projects, cultural and sporting events.

In 2024, Rosneft continued to implement the main goals of its strategy aimed at increasing operational efficiency, caring for people and respecting the environment.

The company is the largest taxpayer in the country and for many years has made a significant contribution to ensuring the stability of the budget system, promoting the socio-economic development of Russia. In the regions of its presence, Rosneft takes an active part in the development of infrastructure and the implementation of social projects, including in the field of medicine, education, culture and environmental protection.

One of the key priorities in Rosneft's activities is environmental responsibility. The company consistently increases the volume of "green" investments: by the end of the year, it reached 74 billion rubles, and over the past three years – almost 200 billion rubles. The funds are directed to programs to improve the reliability of pipelines, the construction of infrastructure for the utilization of associated petroleum gas, the reduction of emissions and other projects.

Rosneft's efforts to plant trees make a key contribution to preserving the ecological balance of our country – in 2024, over 11 million trees of various species were planted throughout the country. At the same time, over the past three years, Rosneft has planted about 37 million seedlings – the total area of plantings for them is comparable to the area of Paris.

Rosneft applies the principles of a closed-loop economy in its handling of water resources. In 2024, the share of recycled and reused water exceeded 93.7% of the total volume of water used for production needs. This made it possible to reduce the volume of "fresh" water taken from the external environment. The Company's total costs for wastewater management activities in 2024 amounted to 12 billion rubles.

In 2024, Rosneft continued land reclamation work, including "historical heritage" lands. Since 2022, over 280 hectares have been restored, including 45 hectares last year. A number of large enterprises of the Company have completely completed the liquidation of "historical heritage" lands.

The company continues its project to study and protect biodiversity – in 2024, a unique program "Tamura" was launched, the purpose of which is to obtain information on the state of key animal species in the Arctic region. Rosneft's scientific center organized five expeditions, during which scientists studied the Kara subpopulation of the polar bear, wild reindeer and rare bird species. The total length of air and water routes was almost 20 thousand km.

One of the drivers of Rosneft's development is the continuous implementation of modern technologies. In 2024, the total portfolio of registered patents exceeded 1,100 innovative developments.

Rosneft is the first oil company in Russia that has successfully created and is developing a line of its own software for solving production problems in the field of geology, design, development and operation of fields. Today, the Company's line of science-intensive software includes 24 software products, 17 of which have already been implemented in production activities.

In 2024, Rosneft continued its systematic work to create comfortable and safe conditions for employees, including those working in remote areas and in harsh climates. One of the key areas of work was the development of the "smart village" concept – a modern format of shift infrastructure with digital services, mobile applications and automated household systems.

Rosneft supports initiatives in the field of education and upbringing of the younger generation, carries out construction and repair of educational institutions in the regions of its presence. For example, in Nizhnevartovsk a new kindergarten for 320 children was built, in the village of Elan-Chishma (Republic of Bashkortostan) – a new multifunctional educational center with an area of over 2 thousand square meters, two schools in Syzran were reconstructed. Also, thanks to the assistance of the Company, a new clinic was opened in Ufa, medical equipment was supplied to three hospitals in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Tyumen and Samara regions.

The Company is actively developing the volunteer movement "Good Deeds Platform". In 2024, Rosneft enterprises held almost 2 thousand volunteer events and projects, in which 106 thousand employees took part. Corporate volunteering is important in solving urgent social and environmental problems in the regions where Rosneft operates.

An important part of the Company's social activities is the corporate sports and health movement "Energy of Life", within the framework of which employees regularly play sports and compete in various sports disciplines. The movement is growing annually, and by the end of 2024 it had already united almost 128 thousand employees, that is, almost 40% of the total number of Rosneft employees.

Bashneft allocated over 4 billion rubles for environmental protection activities in the first half of the year

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In the first half of 2025, Bashneft (part of Rosneft) allocated almost 4.1 billion rubles to implement environmental projects.

Preserving the environment for future generations is one of the key principles of Rosneft's activities. The company and its subsidiaries aim to achieve leadership positions in minimizing environmental impact, increasing the environmental efficiency of production and preserving ecosystems.

One of the significant areas of Bashneft's environmental protection activities is forest restoration. During the first half of the year, the company's employees planted 240 thousand trees on the territory of Bashkortostan on a total area of 69 hectares, of which 24 thousand seedlings were planted on the shore of Aslikul, the largest lake in the region. In the second half of the year, forest restoration work will continue in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

Biological treatment facilities (BTF) of the Ufa group of oil refineries play an important role in the Company's work to optimize the use of water resources. During January-June, the treatment facilities processed 11.7 million m3 of wastewater. In total, over 169 million m3 of wastewater have already been purified in 7 years of operation. The facilities not only service the Bashneft oil refinery, but also purify wastewater from 66 enterprises in the northern industrial zone of Ufa and storm water. The high level of purification of industrial, storm water and domestic wastewater has made it possible to increase the volume of reused water in technological processes by 2.5 times. The quality of the resulting water meets the standards for water bodies used for fisheries.

Based on the results of the first half of the year, Bashneft also ensured the beneficial use of associated petroleum gas at its assets in Bashkiria at the level of 95.7%. The company completed the modernization of furnaces at the units of two of its plants. The implemented measures will lead to a reduction in the volume of emissions into the atmosphere by 1% per year.

Bashneft continued active work to reduce the volume of accumulated oil-containing waste using modern technologies that have passed the state environmental assessment. During the reporting period, about 50 thousand tons of oil waste were processed.

Rosneft to help restore Russia's only population of Przewalski's horses

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The Orenburgneft company (Rosneft's key asset in the Volga region), as part of its cooperation with the Orenburgsky State Nature Reserve, has become the official guardian of a Przewalski's horse foal.

The Przewalski's horse is listed in the Red Book of Russia and has the highest, zero rarity status. With the support of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the only program in Russia to create a semi-free population of the Przewalski's horse has been implemented on the territory of the Orenburgsky Reserve since 2015. The project is supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and the Government of the Orenburg Region.

The foal taken under guardianship was born on June 12, 2025, on Russia Day. Following a competitive selection among Orenburgneft employees, the animal received the symbolic name Buravka. Due to its consonance with the word "bur", it is associated with the oil industry, and also contains a reference to the character of Russian folk tales Sivka-Burka – a magical horse personifying wisdom and strength.

As part of the ceremonial event, representatives of Orenburgneft were presented with a certificate of trustees and a passport for the Przewalski horse.

The Orenburg Reserve is a specially protected natural area, including natural complexes and objects of special ecological value. Among the representatives of the flora and fauna of the reserve, there are many species that are rare and endangered. Of the total number of animals living in the reserve, 75 species are listed in the Red Books of Russia and the Orenburg Region.

Visitors to the reserve can take a walk along the equipped ecological trail "Breath of the Steppe", observe beautiful steppe animals from a close distance, and also learn about the program for the conservation of biological diversity and the work of the Reintroduction Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) to create a semi-free population of the wild Przewalski's horse in Russia during excursions. Information stands have also appeared on the territory of the reserve, which tell about the joint work with Orenburgneft.

The cooperation between the Company and the Center will contribute to the improvement of conditions of keeping, feeding and veterinary care of animals, further study of endangered species, as well as the development of ecotourism in the region.

Environmental protection is an integral part of the corporate culture and social responsibility of PJSC NK Rosneft. In the regions where it operates, the Company carries out large-scale activities to restore natural resources, study rare animals and preserve biological diversity. As part of its scientific activities, Rosneft studies animals that are bioindicators of local ecosystems – polar bears, Atlantic walruses, ivory gulls and wild reindeer. The Company also supports programs to preserve the Amur tiger population.

Reference:

The Przewalski's horse owes its name to the Russian scientist Nikolai Mikhailovich Przewalski, who in 1879 conducted an expedition to Central Asia and discovered a species unknown to science. In the late 1970s, this rare species was on the verge of complete extinction; the Red Book assigned it the status of "extinct in the wild."

The animal was saved by 12 wild individuals from various zoos around the world – the founders of several restored populations. In total, there are no more than three thousand horses on the planet today.
