NSU students to undergo training at T1 holding IT camp

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The first stage of training in the T1 IT camp started on July 8. As it was found out by the T1 IT holding, 25% of students of Novosibirsk technical universities associate their career future with system analytics. Statistics based on the assessment of the popularity of the IT holding's educational programs, the professional priorities of future IT specialists in Novosibirsk reflect the general trend in the country – system analytics is the leader in many regions, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Izhevsk. The second and third places in popularity were taken by backend and frontend development – these tracks were chosen by 23% and 17% of future IT specialists, respectively. Also in demand among young people are the specialties of tester and application administrator.

The bootcamp participants included 144 students from Novosibirsk. The largest number of students came from Novosibirsk State University — 42 students were enrolled in the IT camp. This is due to the fact that NSU is focused on practice-oriented learning. For several years now, IT holding T1 has been a strategic partner of the university — the company's employees participate in the development of training courses and give lectures, conduct career guidance events and train teachers to work with new digital tools. Over the past six months, more than 3,000 NSU students have attended events organized in partnership with T1.

Future IT specialists in the IT camp will be able to gain "combat experience" by solving real business problems. Experience is one of the most important criteria for employers when hiring. In 2025, the holding's initiative collected a record number of applications – more than 7,000, which is 2.5 times more than last year. Almost 3,000 candidates passed the entrance test, and 1,535 people were accepted to the educational intensive.

The IT camp is taught in a hybrid format. At the first stage, participants undergo online training, including lectures from T1 experts, master classes on developing technical and soft skills, and analysis of practical tasks. The second stage is project work: participants will unite in teams to develop real solutions under the guidance of experienced mentors. The IT camp will end with an in-person final. It will take place on August 28 in three cities – Novosibirsk, Moscow, and Yekaterinburg. All students will receive certificates of participation, and the most successful will be invited to an internship at the company. Last year, 80% of the camp participants became T1 interns.

— To quickly start a career, graduates of even top IT universities often lack practical skills and a general understanding of the trajectory of professional movement. To help young specialists overcome this barrier, we create an environment that brings together young people and expert practitioners who are implementing ambitious digital transformation projects today. This transfer of living knowledge is the basis of the T1 IT camp and our other educational projects, — commented Dmitry Kharitonov, First Deputy General Director of T1 IT holding.

Novosibirsk State University (NSU) together with IT holding T1 is implementing Bachelor's degree program "Applied Artificial Intelligence". This year, 150 students will be accepted. Graduates of the program will master one of the most popular areas in the modern labor market. According to experts, 70% of Russian companies are already using AI in their work, and the demand for professionals with skills in working with AI and machine learning technologies has tripled in recent years. Submission of documents for the new bachelor's program at NSU ends on August 25.

BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — The 15th China-Russia Culture and Art Fair, which kicked off on July 26 in Heihe City, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, will end on August 20 in the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk.

The event, first held in 2010, has become an important link between Chinese and Russian culture and art, as well as an important brand promoting cultural cooperation and exchanges between China and Russia, the Chinese newspaper Zhongguo Wenhuabao /Chinese Culture/ emphasizes.

On Wednesday, the newspaper published an article titled “Let the citizens of China and Russia sing, dance and have fun,” which described the events that have already taken place within the framework of the 15th China-Russia Culture and Art Fair, as well as the significance of its holding.

The article says that the current fair is being organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the government of the Amur Region. Its program includes 47 events in four areas, including high-level mutual visits, cultural exchanges, presentation events, and the construction of a border cultural and tourism corridor, designed to intensify cultural and tourism ties between border cities in the two countries.

He Jing, Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said that through vibrant and diverse exchange activities, the organizers of the fair intend to promote Chinese-Russian cultural exchanges and innovative development of the cultures of the two countries, strengthen spiritual communication and friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields to a higher level.

The above-mentioned newspaper drew attention to one of the main events of the fair – the cultural and tourist show “Evening Banquet on the Banks of the Heilongjiang River”, which takes place on weekends in the “Shanghui” Square in the city of Heihe. At it, citizens of China and Russia sing in chorus, dance, play solo saxophone and perform other numbers, thus providing cultural and audiovisual pleasure to city residents and visiting tourists.

On August 1, the Heihe city opened an exhibition of calligraphy and painting works as part of the fair, which featured 200 works by calligraphers and artists from all over China. The fair program also included a Chinese-Russian exhibition of paintings on the theme of winter and a thematic photo exhibition on the theme of ice patterns on the glass of frozen windows.

The above-mentioned newspaper article said that the fair in Heihe City included an intangible cultural heritage display, a China-Russia food festival, a China-Russia fishing competition, a China-Russia chess competition, a Heihe Fitness Day and a mass aerobics competition.

Heihe Mayor Qin Bo said that the aforementioned fair has built a bridge for deepening mutual understanding and strengthening friendship through cultural and artistic activities, people-to-people interaction and tourism programs, brought out the cultural vitality and tourism potential, and injected new impetus into the prosperity and development of the border areas of the two countries.

AMMAN, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — China signed a contribution agreement on Wednesday for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and called for further international support for the organization, which says it faces an "existential crisis" due to the war in Gaza and a severe funding shortage.

The agreement, part of Beijing's annual donation, was signed in the Jordanian capital by China's head of mission to Palestine Zeng Jixin and UNRWA's director of partnerships Karim Amer.

Zeng Jixin praised UNRWA's "indispensable" role in providing humanitarian aid to millions of Palestinian refugees. China has increased its annual donations and provided medicine and other aid since the conflict in Gaza began, the diplomat added.

"China calls on the international community to continue to support UNRWA," Zeng Jixin said, adding that Beijing is willing to work to end the fighting and achieve a just and lasting solution based on the principle of "two states for two peoples."

UNRWA faced a major financial crisis when several key donor countries suspended contributions following Israeli allegations that several agency staff members were involved in Hamas-led attacks on 7 October 2023. Although many donors have since resumed giving, the organisation says it still faces “very significant” financial challenges.

UNRWA communications director Juliette Touma said the agency was also facing an "existential crisis" amid the devastating conflict in Gaza, where at least 340 of its staff have been killed since the war began.

"China has been a close friend of the Palestinian refugees, a close friend of UNRWA. We always welcome their contribution," said J. Tuma, expressing gratitude to Beijing for its support.

Rosneft and the Government of the Orenburg Region presented a new tourist route

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Rosneft and the Ministry of Economic Development, Investment, Tourism and Foreign Relations of the Orenburg Region presented a new route, Steppe Stories. The presentation of the tourist auto route took place in the city of Buzuluk at the Bashneft gas station (part of Rosneft). The guests of the event also took part in an educational quiz with a drawing of useful travel prizes.

The tourism project is the result of joint work of the Company and regional authorities aimed at developing domestic tourism and infrastructure. Rosneft creates comfortable conditions for car travelers, improving the quality of services at its petrol stations and actively developing roadside services.

The new route has already been presented on Rosneft’s special information and service platform – “Horizons of Russia: Come with us!" Thanks to the unique navigation functionality, all interesting locations become stops on the route, which the car tourist can independently collect and change at any time during the trip, based on personal interests and taking into account the location of the services necessary for car tourists.

The 250 km route runs from the city of Buzuluk to Aksakovo through the picturesque steppe landscapes of Western Orenburg. Travelers following from Buzuluk to the north of the region will be able to visit the Buzuluksky Bor National Park, the largest relict forest in the steppe Eurasia, about 10 thousand years old. Here you can find giant pines with a circumference of more than 4 meters. One of the oldest trees in Russia, the Queen Pine, also grows in the park; its age exceeds 300 years.

The next attraction on the way is the cave hermitage of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in Buzuluk. The great Russian writer Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy visited the elder who lived in these caves. The monastery had an important spiritual significance for the residents of the Orenburg and Samara provinces. Today, tourists and pilgrims can visit the holy spring, chapel and cells, which are connected by vaulted galleries.

A poetic and musical point on the route is the village of Vorontsovka, founded by Count Vorontsov in the 18th century. Here, the future bard Vladimir Vysotsky first picked up a guitar. The village club named after him keeps rare photographs, a guitar, letters and memories of the legendary guest.

Further along the route, travelers will be able to visit the village of Derzhavino, the estate of the Derzhavin family, founded in 1750 by the father of the famous Russian poet and statesman of the Enlightenment era. The village has preserved an 18th-century church built with funds from Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin.

The village of Preobrazhenka in the Buzuluk district is the Orenburg estate of the Karamzin family. It was here that the "Count of Russian History" Nikolai Karamzin was born almost 300 years ago.

The route ends in the Buguruslan district, where in July 2025, after a large-scale restoration, the museum-reserve of the writer Sergei Aksakov was opened. On an area of more than 500 hectares, not only the buildings, but also the entire historical landscape have been restored.

There are Bashneft gas stations located at an optimal distance along the route, where tourists can fill up their car with guaranteed high-quality fuel, have a comfortable rest and buy necessary goods on the road, including locally produced goods.

The Orenburg Region is one of the key regions of Rosneft's operations. "Steppe Stories" became the third tourist route developed by Rosneft and the Ministry of Economic Development, Investment, Tourism and Foreign Relations of the Orenburg Region. In 2024, as part of the "Horizons of Russia" project, the interregional route "Power of Nature" was opened from Orenburg to the capital of Bashkortostan, Ufa, and "Relict Pearl" – from the capital of the region to the Buzuluk Forest.

The Bashneft network of petrol stations in the region includes 89 petrol stations. The retail network of NK Rosneft is the largest in the Russian Federation in terms of geographical coverage and number of stations, and the Rosneft petrol station brand is one of the leaders in Russia in terms of recognition and fuel quality. In total, the Company operates about 3,000 petrol stations.

Rosneft actively supports initiatives to develop domestic tourism – together with partners, over 40 routes for car travel across regions of the Russian Federation have already been developed. Some of them are already presented on the Horizons of Russia platform. With its help, you can plan a trip to interesting places through the infrastructure of roadside services and Rosneft gas stations in the constructor mode.

Thailand's central bank cuts interest rate to 1.5 percent

BANGKOK, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Thailand's central bank on Wednesday cut its key interest rate by 25 basis points, the fourth cut in 10 months, to support a sluggish economy amid weak private consumption and global trade tensions.

The Bank of Thailand's Monetary Policy Committee voted unanimously to cut the overnight repurchase rate to 1.5 percent from 1.75 percent, taking borrowing costs to their lowest since February 2023.

The central bank said in a statement that Thailand's economy is projected to grow this year and next in line with its previous estimate, but that U.S. trade policies will exacerbate structural problems and weaken competitiveness, especially for vulnerable small businesses.

Looking ahead, economic growth is expected to slow in the second half of the year due to the imposition of U.S. tariffs and a decline in short-term tourist arrivals due to increased regional competition, the statement said.

The central bank's monetary policy committee secretary, Sakkapop Panyanukul, said the monetary policy framework aims to maintain price stability, promote sustainable growth and preserve financial stability.

“The committee believes that monetary policy needs to be somewhat more accommodative to provide a favourable financial environment for business adjustment and help ease the burden on vulnerable groups,” S. Panyanukul said at a news conference.

The central bank also noted the importance of ensuring macro-financial stability given the limited room for policy maneuver. –0–
