BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) — The Chinese-Russian music program "Melody Through Time and Space" premiered on Jiangxi TV on Sept. 12.

The famous Chinese opera singer Wu Bixi, singers Zhang Bichen, Wan Nida, Huang Yubo, as well as famous Russian singers Nikolai Baskov, Tatyana Kurtukova and Yulia Parshuta took part in the recording of the program.

The stage was set up in front of the famous ancient Chinese Tengwang Pavilion in Nanchang City, capital of Jiangxi Province, East China, where the thousand-year-old historical building and modern stage design complemented each other, giving the entire performance a unique cultural depth.

The concert opened with a joint performance by all the artists of the compositions “Kalinka” and the Chinese folk song “Jasmine”. N. Baskova presented the song “Katyusha” in its classical version, and Yu. Parshuta and Van Nida presented its joint rock version with elements of rap.

J. Parshuta noted that it was a great honor for her to represent Russia on such a large stage, especially in such an important year – the 80th anniversary of the Victory. She expressed the wish that there would be more such projects, and that China and Russia would always go hand in hand, supporting each other and strengthening their friendship.

It should be noted that the program was jointly produced by Jiangxi TV and Russia Today. The second episode of the program will be aired on September 19, and viewers will be treated to even more recognizable classical compositions and new impressive interpretations. -0-

International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Fascism

Since 1962, in accordance with a UN resolution, the world has celebrated International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Fascism.

It is amazing, but 80 years after the defeat of the coalition of countries that made this inhuman ideology the basis of state policy, neo-fascism continues to exist. Humanity knows very well what this can lead to, the atrocities of the Hitler regime are recorded in documents and photographs, eyewitnesses of that era are still alive. Even despite this and the unequivocal condemnation of the world community, there are still political forces and ruling regimes that consider fascist methods of regulating public life acceptable. But the Nazis of the Third Reich did not simply unleash a war against other states, they systematically and cold-bloodedly sought to destroy the "lower" races and nationalities, without a twinge of conscience "cleansed" their own people of people with psychological illnesses or the disabled, did not spare children. Concentration camps became a terrible ulcer on the face of civilization, where the Nazis mass-exterminated those they did not like: they gassed, burned alive, starved, and conducted medical experiments.

The Soviet Union alone lost 26.6 million of its citizens during the Great Patriotic War. About half of them – 13.7 million people – were civilians and died without weapons in their hands. Of these, 7.4 million were deliberately exterminated, 2.2 million died at work in Germany, and 4.1 million died of exhaustion during the occupation. The Nazi troops, their allies and accomplices destroyed 1,710 cities and more than 70 thousand villages in our country. Statistics, behind each unit of which there is real human grief, physical and mental trauma that remained with those who survived the Nazi invasion until the end of their days. There are fewer and fewer contemporaries of those years. Now we must bear the heavy burden of memory of the victims of fascism for future generations and do everything to prevent a repetition of the history of the last century.

The State University of Management calls on us not to forget about the 60-65 million people who died due to the fault of an aggressively minded minority with an unfounded sense of superiority, which does not even recognize the right to life of people who disagree with them or who are different in appearance. Respect those around you, study history, remember the innocent victims, try not to allow the spread of radical ideas. These simple actions knock the ground out from under the feet of fascism, which is trying to rise again. Remember! Remember.

BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) — China and Central Asian countries are actively deepening cooperation in tourism, trade, energy and culture, a correspondent learned at the ongoing China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS-2025) in Beijing. The interest of the region's countries in the Chinese market continues to grow amid the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the introduction of a visa-free regime.

Wang Guanlong, CEO of Qingdao Link Culture Media Co., a company specializing in developing cultural and tourism products, said this was the fourth time his company had participated in CIFTIS. They had developed the mascot for the Pearl of the SCO International Exhibition Center in Qingdao.

"In fact, the Belt and Road countries produce many high-quality products, but they remain little known. We also need to step up promotion and cooperation in this area. I am glad that countries continue to expand the 'circle of friends', and each of them internally seeks deeper and larger cooperation with China," he added.

Kairat Shaimurat, a representative of the Xinjiang branch of PetroChina, said that since 1997, the company began its operations in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, providing technical support services. Current activities are focused on the markets of many countries, offering a full range of services – from exploration and production to personnel training. "We hope to consolidate the technologies and products of enterprises in the city of Karamay for the joint development of the Central Asian markets," he emphasized.

According to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, trade turnover between the Central Asian countries and China in 2024 reached USD 94.8 billion, which is USD 5.4 billion more than the 2023 figure of USD 89.4 billion. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan accounted for 70 percent of China's total trade with the region, becoming the main drivers of growth.

The Georgian wine stand was of particular interest to visitors. The company's CEO, Satavado Tavadze Levan, has lived in China for thirty years and speaks fluent "Beijing dialect." He spoke about the unique centuries-old winemaking traditions of his country, which uses clay jugs instead of buckets. "It's not what you drink that's important, but who you drink with. We have very special, unique traditions and rituals associated with feasting. Therefore, you definitely need to find time and come to Georgia to see everything with your own eyes and experience it personally."

Both Georgia and China are countries with ancient histories. Georgia was a natural part of the ancient Silk Road and remains a key link in the modern Eurasian transport corridor. “We share the deepest respect for parents and genuine hospitality, which creates a natural sense of closeness between our cultures.” He also noted the growing flow of Chinese tourists to Georgia and the growing interest in learning Chinese among Georgian youth. “In ten years, there will be many Chinese-speaking specialists here,” he is confident.

Li Xinbi, a representative of the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), said the organization, which unites 86 countries and regions, actively promotes cooperation between countries in the tourism industry. “Convenient transportation links, friendly policies and a high level of security make Central Asia an increasingly attractive destination for Chinese tourists. I have been to Samarkand twice myself and really liked the city,” he said. According to him, the federation will continue to organize meetings between tour operators from both sides to optimize tourism products.

“The WTFG is an important platform for global tourism cooperation, which has not only built a bridge connecting Dushanbe to the world, but also provided member cities with invaluable opportunities to exchange experiences and knowledge,” said Rustam Kholmatiyon, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, at the 2025 World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development within the framework of CIFTIS.

“Going forward, we will further strengthen strategic cooperation, share resources, expand markets and explore new ways to develop the tourism industry,” he added. -0-

CIFTIS showcases new wave of cultural consumption

BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) — The Exhibition Hall of Cultural and Tourism Services has been one of the highlights of the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS 2025), attracting large crowds to view its colorful displays.

Visitors strolled through bustling aisles filled with a stunning array of cultural and creative products, from fridge magnets to postcards and more.

CIFTIS 2025 not only showcased China's rich cultural heritage, but also demonstrated the innovative vitality of its cultural industry. Chinese enterprises combined tradition with modernity, national characteristics with global influence, and redefined cultural consumption, raising it to a new level.

REVIVAL OF TRADITIONS

Creative products created in a museum style have become an integral part of cultural consumption. Recently, the Phoenix Crown refrigerator magnet based on historical artifacts from the National Museum of China has caused a stir among buyers. In the cultural and tourism service area of CIFTIS 2025, local companies presented their own creations inspired by cultural landmarks.

Ren Bin, product manager of Panjiayuan Creative and Cultural Company, said they develop products based on traditional cultural elements. “We aim to preserve the beauty of cultural relics and bring in modern aesthetics, hoping to help young people understand China’s traditional culture,” he added.

Along with traditional culture, traditional crafts have become a new consumer trend. At the Fangshan District booth, staff demonstrated the process of grinding ingredients such as agarwood, rose and jasmine into fine powder, which is then turned into delicate beads for bracelets and accessories.

“These products are popular for their exquisite fragrances and their role in traditional Chinese aromatherapy, making them highly sought-after wellness souvenirs,” said Jiang Li, an employee of the company.

NEW CROSS-BORDER TRENDS

Even the most modern toys are influenced by traditional elements. Chinese toymaker Pop Mart has introduced products that combine traditional elements, such as Dunhuang Grotto-themed clothing.

While many designer toy companies draw inspiration from local culture, they are expanding their horizons globally. Letsvan's general manager of public affairs Shen Hao said the company's products are currently sold in Southeast Asia, North America and the Middle East.

"We actively incorporate elements of foreign culture into our products," he said, showing off a doll dressed in traditional Thai clothing and adorned with an elephant-ear-shaped hat. "This helps us create cross-cultural connections with our customers."

The company has been developing cross-industry collaborations, including recent partnerships with the China Open tennis tournament and China Fashion Week. Shen Hao added that Letsvan will continue to innovate through cross-disciplinary integration.

Hu Qiang, General Manager of Public Relations at Letsvan, commented: “Every era has its own iconic toys. While Barbie represented idealized beauty in the past, today’s dolls celebrate uniqueness and individuality, which resonates with young people’s desire for self-expression. This requires us to explore more diverse and interdisciplinary themes.”

INTERACTIVE CONSUMPTION

Collecting seal impressions in the exhibition hall has become a popular activity that began as a simple interaction but has now evolved into a new form of cultural consumption.

The stamp stands act as a guidebook, encouraging visitors to explore each stand. Many come prepared, with brand new notebooks, making collecting stamped images an unforgettable ritual.

At the China National Film Museum booth, visitor Hu Huiyuan carefully stamps a page in her brand-new notebook. “I already have a few of these notebooks at home,” she explains. “Because this event is so big, I made a new one just for this occasion.” For her, these collections are more than just mementos; they are tangible testaments to her life’s journey.

The trend has also taken on an artistic and creative twist: impressions from multiple stamps can be superimposed to form a single image, with each stamp adding a new color or line to the image. This turns simple stamping into personalized visual creations, enhancing the sense of involvement and experience.

In fact, the desire for deeper interactions and immersive experiences is now fueling cultural consumption. Visitors to CIFTIS 2025 lined up across the hall to experience mixed reality (MR) through wearables, immerse themselves in interactive virtual worlds, or take virtual tours of global landmarks. -0-

NANJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) — A high-speed cargo route opened Friday from Zhangjiagang Port in Suzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province, to Changkai Port in Peru, marking the launch of China's first direct general cargo route to Changkai, according to the Suzhou Port Authority.

The new service will be offered once a month and will allow goods to be delivered to Chancai Port in just 32 days, five days less than the market average, according to data from the route operator, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd.

The company noted that the flexible configuration of multi-purpose vessels on the route can meet the export needs of goods such as grinding balls and engineering machinery, as well as meet the import needs of raw materials such as copper concentrate and iron ore.

According to Suzhou Port Group Co., Ltd, once this sea freight route is launched, about 500,000 tons of general cargo will be transported annually from Suzhou to the west coast of Central and South America. Moreover, this route will enable enterprises in Suzhou and the Yangtze River Delta region of China to expand their sales markets in South America and build a more complete transportation network to support the joint construction of the Belt and Road. -0-

China opposes US sanctions on Chinese entities – China's Ministry of Commerce

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — China firmly opposes the United States' recent addition of several Chinese entities to its export control list, a spokesman for China's Ministry of Commerce said Saturday.

The official made the statement while commenting on the fact that the US Department of Commerce added several Chinese entities to the list in sectors such as semiconductors, biotechnology, aerospace and commercial logistics.

The United States has overly broadly interpreted the concept of national security and abused export controls to impose sanctions on Chinese entities, the official said. “Under the pretext of protecting international order and national security, the United States is actually engaging in unilateral bullying, putting its own interests above other countries’ rights to development,” he said.

The spokesperson stressed that such practices put pressure on and constrain enterprises from China and other countries, disrupt normal business exchanges, seriously distort global markets, harm the legitimate rights and interests of companies, and undermine the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains.

The official also announced that China and the United States plan to hold trade and economic talks in Spain from September 14, adding that “the United States’ decision to impose sanctions on Chinese companies at this time raises questions about their true intentions.”

The Chinese side calls on the US to immediately correct its erroneous actions and stop unjustified pressure on Chinese companies, the official representative continued, stressing that China will take necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. –0–

CHENGDU, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) — The 2025 Golden Panda International Cultural Forum opened Saturday in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
