BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — The crew of China's Shenzhou-20 manned space mission, aboard the Chinese space station, successfully completed the fourth round of extravehicular activity on Friday, the China Manned Space Administration (CMSA) said.

Three Chinese astronauts – Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie – worked for about six hours and completed the mission at 01:35 Beijing time, with the support of the space station's robotic arm and a ground support team.

Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie, who are responsible for conducting extravehicular activities, installed the space debris protection device and carried out external equipment checks, the CMSA noted.

The CMSA emphasized that this was the first time that two members of China's third astronaut group had performed a spacewalk together.

So far, the Shenzhou-20 crew in orbit has completed four spacewalks, making it one of two Chinese crews to have completed the most spacewalks.

The Shenzhou-20 crew has been in orbit for over 150 days. According to the plan, they will also conduct numerous scientific experiments and technological tests.

Vienna, September 26 (Xinhua) — A drone was shot down and exploded overnight near the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant (SUPP) amid the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which poses ongoing threats to nuclear safety, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a statement Thursday.

The agency's on-site team reported that 22 drones were spotted overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, some approaching within 500 meters of the facility. IAEA specialists added that they heard gunshots and explosions overnight. UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) — UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday called for global action to reduce deaths from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and promote mental health and well-being.

XI'AN, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — Three people were trapped in a coal mine accident in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local authorities said Friday.

The accident occurred around 3:30 PM on Thursday when a section of an underground roadway collapsed at a coal mine in Zhenping County, Ankang. At the time of the accident, eight workers were performing repairs to restore coal production. According to Zhenping County authorities, five of them were safely rescued.

Built in 1998, the mine has been undergoing safety improvements in coal mining since March 2024.
