MANILA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) — Ten people have been killed and 13 others are missing as tropical storm Bualoy passes through the Philippines, according to preliminary reports from authorities, the Philippine Civil Defense Office and local media reported on Friday.

Civil Defense Office spokesman Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro said seven people were killed in the Eastern Visayas region and three in the Bicol region.

"The number of dead and missing is subject to verification and confirmation," said B.R. Alejandro, mentioning that 13 people are still missing.

Since making landfall late Thursday, Bualoy has battered many areas with gusty winds and heavy rains. Local authorities are scrambling to assist families trapped by flash floods in the Bicol region and elsewhere.
