KABUL, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The Afghan government announced Sunday the release of a U.S. citizen, which officials called a gesture aimed at advancing diplomatic engagement with the United States.

According to Deputy Government Spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat, US Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs Adam Boehler led a delegation to Kabul, where he met with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. During the meeting, Muttaqi confirmed that US citizen Amir Amiri had been released earlier that day.

A. H. Muttaqi emphasized that the Afghan administration does not view cases involving foreign citizens as political leverage, noting that diplomacy remains the most effective channel for resolving such issues.

He called the move a "constructive step forward" and expressed gratitude to Qatar for mediating prisoner swap talks between Kabul and Washington.

A. Böhler welcomed the Afghan government's decision, calling it "a good sign." He noted that previous discussions between the parties had been productive and expressed hope that continued dialogue would help resolve other outstanding issues.

In recent weeks, the US special envoy has been actively engaging with Afghan officials as part of Washington's ongoing efforts to secure the release of American citizens detained in Afghanistan. –0–

The pre-holiday shopping rush has led to increased congestion in courier delivery and logistics in general. In Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, as orders for mooncakes, Chinese mitten crabs, and other products surged, couriers' workload tripled compared to normal days. In response, local authorities have established 406 service centers, centered around neighborhood community centers, creating "cozy homes" where people can relax at any time. Couriers can rest, charge their devices, and so on at one of these nearby centers after unloading goods, food delivery drivers waiting for orders, and online taxi drivers between trips.

Minsk, September 29 (Xinhua) — The Chinese Cultural Center in Minsk hosted a poetry evening on Friday, titled "Under the Same Sky at This Time – A Poetry Evening of the Mid-Autumn Festival." Around 150 Belarusian enthusiasts of Chinese culture attended, celebrating the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.

The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Minsk and the Confucius Institute at the Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages.

Xia Guangyuan, Cultural Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Belarus and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Minsk, delivered a speech in which he noted that "civilizations are enriched through mutual learning, and cultures become diverse through exchanges." He added that although China and Belarus are separated by thousands of kilometers, the countries have always been connected and have advanced together. The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional holiday for the Chinese nation, and he expressed hope that the series of events will promote cultural exchanges between China and Belarus.

The joint reading of Chinese poetry by Chinese and Belarusian students, along with the performance of songs and dances from both countries, allowed the moonlight described by the poets to transcend time, space, and language barriers, connecting the hearts of the two peoples and perfectly blending Chinese poetry with Belarusian art, noted Sheng Xuemei, Director of the Confucius Institute at the Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages (BSFU). She expressed her hope that the bright moon would serve as a testament to Chinese-Belarusian friendship and that cultural exchanges between the two countries would flourish.

The Institute's Belarusian director, Tatyana Demyanenko, noted that the poetry evening will help the Belarusian people better understand China and its deep traditions and culture, and will also contribute to bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together.

Before the poetry evening, guests took part in master classes in calligraphy, paper folding, and Chinese knot making. The concert program was varied and included such performances as bilingual recitations of Tang Dynasty poetry by Chinese and Belarusian children, song performances, poetry readings, and dances. The audience was immersed in the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
