The UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Ramiz Alakbarov, presented to the Security Council the Secretary-General's report on the implementation of Resolution 2334 (2016), concerning Israel's settlement activities in the occupied territories. Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — Taiwanese authorities' attempts to send people to other countries on so-called private or unofficial visits cannot change the fact that Taiwan is part of China, nor the international community's fundamental commitment to the one-China principle, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday.

Guo Jiakun made the announcement at a regular press briefing.

He noted that the Lai Qingde administration sends envoys in so-called private or unofficial capacity to other countries under the pretext of developing economic, trade, scientific, technical, and cultural contacts. HANGZHOU, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The 4th Global Digital Trade Expo concluded Monday in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, with investment and trade memorandums of understanding (MOIs) worth 161.98 billion yuan (about 22.79 billion U.S. dollars) signed.

According to the organizers, 1,812 exhibitors participated in the exhibition, with over 257,000 visits. Of these, 382 products in areas such as digital entertainment, healthcare, and smart home were presented to the public for the first time.

Four people, including a teenage girl, have reportedly been killed in massive Russian airstrikes last night that continued into the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the attack lasted about 12 hours and involved the launch of nearly 600 drones, 46 cruise missiles, and five rockets.

"People have lost their lives again… residential buildings have been damaged, and children are among the victims," the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated. Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia were hit, destroying and damaging residential buildings and public infrastructure.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that a cardiology center in Kyiv was hit, killing two people.

Risks for nuclear power plants

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — China's banking sector's external financial assets exceeded $1.77 trillion as of the end of June 2025, according to statistics released Monday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

BEIJING, September 29 (Xinhua) — China saw nearly 3.29 billion domestic tourist trips in the first six months of 2025, setting a new high for the country's tourism sector, Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli announced on Monday.

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang signed a State Council resolution amending the Regulations on International Maritime Transport to better regulate relevant activities.

According to the updated document, China will take necessary countermeasures against countries or regions that impose or maintain discriminatory bans, restrictions or similar measures against Chinese carriers, vessels or crews involved in international maritime transport and related services.

It is noted that such measures will be applied if the relevant treaties or agreements do not provide for sufficiently effective legal protection mechanisms.

In addition, operators of international shipping trading platforms are required to provide information to Chinese transport authorities.
