A bust of German Titov, cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, Doctor of Military Sciences, and the first person to complete a long-duration space flight, was installed on Cosmonauts' Alley near the Cosmonautics Museum (111 Mira Avenue).

The monument was created by a team of sculptors including Alexander Alubaev and architects Sergei Kolobov and Ildar Salimov. The All-Russian public organization "Russian Cosmonautics Federation" initiated the installation.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of federal and Moscow authorities, public and scientific institutions, relatives and friends of German Titov, as well as Muscovites and guests of the capital.

German Titov is the youngest cosmonaut in the history of space exploration. He was born on September 11, 1935, in the village of Verkh-Zhilino, Kosikhinsky District, Altai Krai, to a teacher and a public figure. After graduating from the aviation school in Kustanay (since 1997, Kostanay), he entered the Stalingrad Military Aviation School in Novosibirsk. In 1959, following medical and professional selection, he was accepted into the first Soviet cosmonaut corps.

For the outstanding abilities he demonstrated during training, the cosmonaut was appointed Yuri Gagarin's backup for the historic flight on April 12, 1961. In August 1961, Gherman Titov completed the first long-duration, multi-orbit flight aboard the Vostok 2 spacecraft, proving that it was possible to remain in space for extended periods. Furthermore, Gherman Titov became the first person to manually control a spacecraft and film the Earth from space. On August 9, 1961, for his courage and heroism during the space flight, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

He spent the rest of his life serving in aviation and cosmonautics, making significant contributions to the scientific and technological development of the space industry and being an active public and government figure. An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The "Lost Garden" exhibition opens in Pavilion No. 29, "Floriculture and Landscaping," at the Biocluster at VDNKh. It is a joint project between the Timiryazev State Biological Museum and the HSE School of Design and Art and Design. The exhibition features works by students and graduates of the HSE School of Design and Art and Design.

The pavilion will be transformed into an immersive space, where the garden will symbolize the human soul and inner world. The exhibition is structured as a sequential journey through several thematic zones. The exhibition features ceramic sculptures: animal figures, abstract images of people and nature, and symbolic compositions. All of these are harmoniously combined with the plants. However, some exhibits can only be discovered upon closer inspection.

"The exhibition draws on the museum's resources and collections, which focus not on classical art but on scientific subjects. This is what makes the project unique: together with the students, we're exploring biological materials and motifs, trying to demonstrate how special and deeply personal the union of humanity, nature, and art can be," said Alexandra Zakharova, the project's curator.

A key exhibit at the exhibition will be the digital fantasy project "Flower Horoscope," created by the art group Agey Tomesh. The artists have created a collection of 366 flower images—one for each day of the year. Each image is accompanied by a description of the flower, its characteristics, and the personality of the person born on that day.

The exhibition's concept will be summarized by a video projection depicting a pulsating, ever-growing garden. It symbolizes the human inner world, where memory and dreams, temptations and losses, strength and vulnerability are intertwined.

"Today, the Biocluster allows the Biological Museum to expand the scope of its partnership projects. The "Lost Garden" exhibition will be a key milestone in the long-standing relationship between the museum and the HSE School of Art and Design. This is not just a project, but a new stage in the museum's collaboration with the country's largest educational institutions," noted Igor Ryabokon, Director of the Timiryazev State Biological Museum.

The exhibition will run until October 31.

"Biocluster" is a new multidisciplinary project by the K.A. Timiryazev State Biological Museum, located at VDNKh. It unites several thematic pavilions and garden and park areas. In June, the first exhibition, "Morphogenesis. Third Nature," opened there. It explores the transformation of form at the intersection of biology and contemporary art. The exhibition explores how the organic and the artificial merge to create new hybrid realities and unexpected forms.

The K.A. Timiryazev State Biological Museum is one of the largest biological museums in Russia, founded in 1922 by Professor Boris Zavadovsky. Today, its collections exceed 110,000 exhibits, and the exhibitions are housed both in the historic building on Malaya Gruzinskaya Street and at new sites at VDNKh. All major branches of biology, from zoology to anthropology, are represented here.

At the Department of Technosphere Safety at SPbGASU, senior lecturer Nadezhda Subbotina completed a research project on "Improving the Occupational Safety of Workers Performing Work at Height in the Construction Industry by Improving the Safe Behavior Model." The study was conducted as part of a grant competition for research projects by academic staff at the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in 2025.

Numerous studies have shown a correlation between the number of hazardous actions by workers and the incidence of serious industrial accidents. Therefore, to reduce injuries and improve occupational safety when working at height, it is necessary to address the root cause of the problem—keeping records of hazardous actions by workers. Nadezhda Subbotina proposed a method for assessing the occupational risk of workers working at height, based on identifying the most severe hazardous actions and monthly recalculating the occupational risk level for the hazard of falling from a height.

To rank the severity of the consequences of various hazardous actions when working at height, expert opinions were collected and accident investigations were analyzed. If an employee commits a critical number of hazardous actions within a year, they are suspended from work and sent to unscheduled training in safe working practices at height.

To assess the effectiveness of occupational safety training, the researcher developed a questionnaire and assessment to determine workers' perceptions of hazards and their level of retained knowledge on occupational safety. An analysis of the questionnaire revealed that workers did not find the training valuable. A knowledge retention assessment revealed that workers' knowledge declined by more than 30% within three to six months of the last occupational safety training. A decline in retained knowledge may indicate insufficient employee motivation, a lack of practical application of the material covered, or that the training was insufficiently effective.

The study also revealed that on construction sites, the priority of completing production tasks is often placed above personal safety. Improving the priority of personal safety issues can be achieved by changing approaches to occupational safety training. This requires moving away from formal training and incorporating simulated consequences of violations and accident simulations into employee training. To improve the quality of safety training, it is necessary to implement practice-oriented approaches, such as interactive workshops and accident simulations. The "Smart Work" Training Center at St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering offers training using such innovative methods. These methods take into account psychological aspects and allow employees to more deeply absorb safety knowledge, thereby fostering safe behavior in the workplace.

As a result of the research work, articles were prepared for publication in journals included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission.

The Zapovednoye Posledstvo Foundation participated in this very significant celebration. It was dedicated to the tenth anniversary of Norilsk Nickel's social capital development program, which, since 2025, will be called "People of the Territory" and combines two programs: "Kindness Factory" and "World of New Opportunities."

Why is this so important and significant for us?!

For 10 years, we have been an expert partner of the environmental volunteer marathon "Poneslos" and other events.

Things are made clear from a distance! We started counting the benefits volunteers have brought to the protected areas over this time, and we were simply amazed:

– built more than 10 km of nature trails, including crossings over the channels of the Torey Lakes and observation platforms of the Daursky Nature Reserve,

– developed and installed an interactive site called “Reindeer Trail” in the Lapland Nature Reserve,

– equipped rest areas on the “Deaf Dam” trail in the Lapland Nature Reserve and the route to Varlama Island in the Pasvik Nature Reserve,

– built in several stages the “Climatic Route in the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park”, where more than 1.5 million people pass through each year,

– created an educational lesson “7 Wonders of the Arctic,” which was attended by more than 6 thousand schoolchildren,

– developed a set of original games aimed at environmental education of children, youth and adults, which was rated by more than 10,000 players,

and much more!

And of course, we were thrilled to attend the immersive performance—the presentation of the new program and the celebration dedicated to the tenth anniversary. It was a joy to see those with whom we share our good deeds for the benefit of nature! And it was also a pleasure to receive an award for our collaboration.

We say "Thank you" to our partners, and to all the company's volunteers and friends. May you have many new victories, projects, and accomplishments ahead, benefiting yourselves and the environment!

Rosneft produced its 150 millionth ton of oil at the Uvat project.

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Rosneft – An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The cumulative oil production of RN-Uvatneftegaz (part of the Rosneft oil production complex) has reached 150 million tonnes since the start of production at the Uvat project fields in 2007. This achievement was made possible by well construction, the commissioning of new assets, and the use of modern drilling and oil production technologies.

This year, the company commissioned 99 new wells. Construction of high-tech wells, primarily horizontal, using hydraulic fracturing is currently ongoing. In the first eight months of 2025, RN-Uvatneftegaz's oil production increased by 55,000 tons compared to the same period in 2024.

Today, the Uvat project operates three oil production hubs—Ust-Tegussky, Protozanovsky, and Tyamkinsky—with smaller satellite fields adjacent. Sharing the hubs' infrastructure creates synergies and accelerates the commissioning of new fields. The major fields are equipped with two central oil gathering stations, two oil pumping stations, and five chemical analysis testing laboratories.

The development of field infrastructure is contributing to the growth of production indicators. Gas production and power generation facilities were commissioned in 2025. New 110 and 35 kV substations were launched, providing RN-Uvatneftegaz with a reliable power supply to increase drilling volumes and operate new wells. The substations are equipped with modern Russian-made power and switching equipment, ensuring a high degree of automation. All equipment is adapted for uninterrupted operation in the northern climate.

The company continues geological exploration and expanding its resource base. In 2025, RN-Uvatneftegaz geologists discovered the Yuzhno-Keumskoye field. This new asset will play a key role in the further development of the entire project and the long-term maintenance of the company's current oil production levels.

The implementation of digital tools is contributing to the improvement of RN-Uvatneftegaz's key operational indicators and productivity. The company uses the Sfera 3D information technology system. Digitalization enables maximum efficiency across the entire production chain—from well construction to hydrocarbon transportation—as well as real-time management of equipment operating modes and the selection of optimal engineering solutions.

Reference:

RN-Uvatneftegaz is exploring and developing a group of fields across 19 licensed areas with a total area of over 25,000 square kilometers, located in the Uvatsky District of the Tyumen Region.

RN-Uvatneftegaz is one of the largest subsoil users, taxpayers, and employers in the southern Tyumen region. It accounts for over 80% of the region's oil production.
