Beijing, October 16 (Xinhua) — The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport corridor offers new opportunities to develop trade and economic cooperation between China and the countries of Central, Western, and South Asia, as well as Southern Europe. Consequently, multimodal freight transport along this corridor plays a role in supporting the stability of production and supply chains.

On April 16, a train departed from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, one of China's most economically developed provinces, to serve the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal international freight transport route. The train was loaded with mechanical equipment, plastic products, and other goods.

On April 11, a freight train departed from Yiwu to Tashkent along this route. Yiwu, dubbed the "global supermarket," is a key supplier for Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms.

Another example: In March, the Lanzhou-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan rail and road route was launched on a regular basis.

The advantages of multimodal freight transportation along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan corridor are obvious. For example, the Wuxi-Tashkent route will reduce transit time from 25 to 15 days. In terms of costs, shipping cargo along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal international freight route is 10 percent and 33 percent cheaper than shipping exclusively by rail and road, respectively.

According to the Yangtze Wanbao newspaper, the launch of freight transport along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport corridor will allow enterprises to overcome barriers to international trade, ensuring the stability of production and supply chains, as well as the development of trade within the Belt and Road Initiative.

The successful organization of cargo transportation along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan corridor is a model of multilateral cooperation that could inspire more countries and regions to strengthen their connectivity, writes the Zhongguowang news portal.

BEIJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) — Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region has found a path of comprehensive development of rural areas and cultural heritage in the 60 years since its founding, according to an analysis released Thursday.

In pursuit of inclusive rural development, governments at all levels in Xizang have implemented targeted measures to guide and support the protection and revitalization of traditional villages, according to the report, titled "Harmony between Tradition and Modernity: Rural Development and Cultural Heritage in China's Xizang."

Funding for these villages has increased, with an emphasis on supporting infrastructure modernization and cultural heritage projects. Efforts are also being directed toward creating local cultural brands, according to a report jointly prepared by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development and the Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with the Xinhua News Agency.

As noted in the document, Xizang actively promotes cultural revival in rural development, tailored to the specific conditions of each village. Combining cultural heritage with well-thought-out village planning, museums, cultural squares, and other facilities have been built in the region, creating platforms for the preservation and revival of magnificent traditional culture.

In addition, digital technologies are widely used to expand cultural information channels via the Internet in order to increase the market competitiveness of cultural products.

For example, in developing high-quality rural tourism, Xizang is systematically exploring and developing cultural resources to enrich the cultural experience of rural travel, as well as developing local products within cultural tourism. By utilizing natural resources—mountains, water bodies, forests, and others—the region is developing ecotourism to further enrich the customer experience.

Xizang also places great importance on building a talent pool by forming and supporting groups of intangible cultural heritage heirs to ensure the continuity of traditional culture. As noted in the report, skills training programs have been launched in the region to improve cultural literacy and employment opportunities for rural residents. -0-

UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) — A planned expansion of humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip has been disrupted after the ceasefire agreement came into force, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said on Wednesday.

"We must not miss the opportunity to fully implement the agreements reached," he said. "Earlier this week, we were able to begin scaling up humanitarian aid after months of frustration and blockades. Food, medicine, fuel, water, cooking gas, and tents were delivered to those in need. We made progress in clearing roads and reopening bakeries. We shared in the joy and relief of reunited families."

Israel announced on Tuesday that it was halving the number of humanitarian aid trucks allowed into Gaza (by about 300 trucks).

Israeli authorities claim the measure was prompted by Hamas's failure to retrieve the remains of the dead hostages.

T. Fletcher said Hamas must make every effort to return all the bodies of the dead hostages, and Israel must allow a massive influx of humanitarian aid on which many lives depend.

The humanitarian community is determined to save lives despite the obstacles, the emergency relief coordinator said.

“We will not tolerate any interference in the distribution of our aid,” he added.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), headed by T. Fletcher, reported that humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip continue.

OCHA said its partners are supporting the preparation or delivery of hundreds of thousands of meals and bags of bread every day.

The department reported that on Monday, the Karam Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) and Kissufim border crossings on the Israeli side were closed for the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners. Cargo could not be unloaded, and only a limited amount of goods, previously cleared through the checkpoint, could be received on the Gaza side.

OCHA added that both crossings remained closed to humanitarian aid from the Israeli side on Tuesday. –0–

Everything is real—reception, reservations, booking, service: students from the State University of Management saw how hoteliers work in real life.

Participants of the "Spectrum of Innovations" accelerator visited the Gochukhino Park Hotel and the Kupets Hotel, both owned by Elinar Holding, the program's industrial partner.

Natalia Murzova, Deputy General Director for Human Resources, Nina Abramova, Director of Public Relations and Social Affairs, and Alena Balueva, Development Manager at the Blagorechye Park Hotel, spoke about the intricacies of hospitality management.

Students discussed a wide range of issues with senior managers, including the intricacies of seasonal capacity planning, key service standards, and the challenges businesses pose to accelerator teams.

But things didn't stop there: the team came up with their own ideas for increasing the hotel complex's productivity. For example, they created a Telegram bot for guests with restaurant menus, a map of the facilities, and a schedule of activities, as well as introducing new leisure and service formats.

Under the supervision of Alena Balueva, the teams will continue working on their projects. On October 23rd, they will present their concepts at the program's midpoint, and the best solutions will be presented at Demo Day, where they will receive expert evaluation and a chance to be brought to life.

The "Spectrum of Innovations" acceleration program launched in September. Its partners help future managers develop their entrepreneurial thinking and explore real-world business challenges.

Bishkek, October 16 (Xinhua) — China has made tremendous progress in its own development over the past five years. This has become an important factor in global stability and progress, former Kyrgyz Ambassador to China Kanaiym Baktygulova said in an interview with Xinhua.

This year marks the final year of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). K. Baktygulova noted that during this period, the country has achieved impressive progress both domestically and internationally.

Among the development achievements China has achieved over the past five years, the former ambassador particularly noted the launch of the Hualong-1 nuclear reactor—a symbol of China's leadership in nuclear energy—the accelerated expansion of renewable energy production capacity, the expansion of 5G network deployment, the introduction of medical robotic systems, and more.

"China has demonstrated a confident combination of economic growth, technological breakthroughs, and environmental responsibility. The country has not only maintained sustainable momentum amid global upheavals but also strengthened its leadership in renewable energy, science, and social protection," she said.

According to K. Baktygulova, over the past five years, despite global instability caused by unilateralism, protectionism, and geopolitical crises, China's economy has continued to play a major role in maintaining global economic stability.

"China's economic achievements have had and continue to have a significant impact on the global order, contributing to global economic growth, technological innovation, and sustainable development. The country continues to play a key role in shaping the future of the global economy and international relations," emphasized K. Baktygulova.

In addition, she said, China has made great efforts to develop large-scale manufacturing, expand global supply chains, strengthen climate cooperation, and build infrastructure and transit corridors, which has contributed to the development of countries in various regions of the world and provided sustainable growth models for many developing countries.

The former ambassador emphasized that, alongside its own development, China actively supports developing countries both within multilateral platforms such as BRICS, the SCO, and APEC, as well as through bilateral mechanisms with countries in Africa, ASEAN, Latin America, and Central Asia. "These efforts are aimed at promoting joint development and strengthening the position of countries in the Global South in global governance," she emphasized.

Next year will be the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). According to K. Baktygulova, during this period, China will become a country that successfully combines economic strength, social well-being, and responsible international leadership.

"China will strive to improve economic resilience, including diversifying its trading partners and reducing its dependence on imported critical materials. This could include developing domestic manufacturing and strengthening domestic capabilities in key technologies," she believes.

K. Baktygulova noted that China will also strengthen its role in scientific and technological innovation by turning it into a driving force for the development of new-quality productive forces and the construction of a modernized industrial system.

“I believe that China will strengthen its position as one of the world’s centers of high-tech manufacturing and the digital economy,” she asserted, adding that China will continue to develop a “green” economy and will achieve success in further reducing the carbon intensity of industry, accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources, developing “smart cities” and green transport.

K. Baktygulova also expects China to make significant strides in the social and scientific spheres. "The country's standard of living will continue to rise, and its education and healthcare systems will improve," she noted. "China will achieve new achievements in space exploration, biotechnology, and medicine."

Furthermore, the former ambassador believes that China will assume a more significant status in international affairs. The country will deepen its participation in shaping a just, multipolar world, advance the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote deeper regional integration.

“Personally, during this period, I hope to see China as a dynamically developing power that will strengthen its technological sovereignty, demonstrate sustainable, high-quality economic development with an emphasis on innovation, ecology, and social balance, and play a more key role in the international arena,” she concluded. –0–

Jerusalem, October 16 (Xinhua) — Israel intends to resume military operations in the Gaza Strip unless Hamas demilitarizes and returns the bodies of all hostages it is holding, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Wednesday.

"If Hamas refuses to implement the agreement [on a peace settlement in Gaza], Israel, in coordination with the United States, will return to military action to achieve the complete defeat of Hamas, change the reality in Gaza, and achieve all the goals of the war," the statement said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Isaac Katz ordered the army to prepare a "comprehensive plan to defeat Hamas" in case fighting in Gaza resumes.

According to US President Donald Trump's peace plan, Hamas must return the remains of all hostages it holds and disarm, noted I. Katz. Israel, together with US-led international forces, "will work to destroy all tunnels and terrorist infrastructure in Gaza to ensure the demilitarization of Gaza and eliminate any threat to the State of Israel," the defense minister added.
