BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday that the actions of Chinese warships in relevant waters are in full compliance with both China's domestic laws and international law.

Lin Jian made the statement at a regular departmental press conference in response to a question about China's third aircraft carrier, the Fujian, in connection with its recent passage through the Taiwan Strait to conduct scientific research tests and exercises in the South China Sea.

The PLA Navy had previously released information on the matter, a Chinese diplomat said.

According to him, these inter-waterfront training and testing activities are a normal process within the framework of the construction of the aircraft carrier Fujian and are not directed against any specific target. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese authorities on Friday released a three-year special action plan to scale up the construction of new-type energy storage systems (2025-2027).

According to a document jointly released by China's National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, the country's total installed capacity of new-type energy storage will exceed 180 million kW by 2027, which is expected to attract about 250 billion yuan (about $35.2 billion) in direct investment in related projects.

The document outlined 21 key measures, including scaling up the use of energy storage in power generation and grid infrastructure, accelerating technological innovation and improving standardization. It also placed particular emphasis on training specialists and strengthening international cooperation in the sector.

The move is part of China's broader push to transition to clean, low-carbon energy and high-quality socio-economic development.

According to official data, by the end of 2024, the installed capacity of new-type energy storage devices in the country reached 73.76 million kW. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese authorities have unveiled a two-year action plan to accelerate high-quality growth of the domestic energy equipment industry, including measures to promote green and smart transformation in the energy sector.

The white paper outlines numerous growth targets for the 2025-2026 period, including an average annual growth rate of approximately 6 percent in operating income from sales of traditional energy equipment, as well as a steady growth in operating income from sales of equipment in the alternative energy field, while industry leaders are expected to achieve revenue growth of approximately 10 percent.

The move comes amid the acceleration of the green and low-carbon transformation of the global energy structure and the emergence of a new type of energy system in China.

Key measures listed in the plan include promoting high-quality development of the wind power and other renewable energy equipment industry, promoting innovation in new energy storage technologies, accelerating the construction of large-scale onshore wind and photovoltaic bases, and orderly decommissioning of outdated coal-fired power plants. Efforts will also be made to deepen the integration of new-generation information technology with the power equipment industry.

According to the document, international cooperation will be stepped up. China will seek to expand supply chain cooperation with emerging countries in wind power, solar power and energy storage, encourage component manufacturers to join overseas supply chains, and promote mutual recognition of technical standards, testing and certification.

This document was jointly published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the State Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China.

Green energy development in China is gaining momentum. As of the end of July this year, the total installed capacity of power plants in the country reached 3.67 billion kW, which is 18.2 percent more than at the end of July last year. In particular, the total installed capacity of Chinese solar power plants increased by 50.8 percent to 1.11 billion kW, while the same indicator for wind power plants increased by 22.1 percent to approximately 570 million kW. -0-

BRASILIA, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced on Thursday to 27 years and three months in prison for allegedly attempting a coup.

Four of the five judges of Brazil's Federal Supreme Court voted to convict the former president. Judges Alexandre de Morais and Flavio Dino found Bolsonaro guilty of the charges brought against him on Tuesday. Judges Carmen Lucia and Cristiano Zanin supported the decision on Thursday, while Luis Fuchs called for the politician's acquittal on Wednesday.

The country's Federal Supreme Court began hearing the case on September 2. A majority vote of the five-judge panel hearing the case is needed to convict. –0–

WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday said the alleged intrusion of Russian drones into Polish airspace "may have been a mistake" and expressed dissatisfaction over the incident.

"It could have been a mistake. But despite that, I am not happy with everything that is connected with this situation," D. Trump told reporters.

“I hope this will all end,” the president added.

His comments contrast with harsh statements from European leaders, some of whom have accused Russia of deliberately launching drones to test the readiness of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Russia has rejected the accusations made by Poland, the European Union and NATO. The Russian Defense Ministry said none of the targets of the strikes were in Poland. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the EU and NATO accuse Russia of provocations every day without providing evidence. –0–

INCHONG, South Korea, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Friday held a joint ceremony to hand over the remains and personal belongings of 30 Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) who died in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid the Korean People (1950-1953), the Chinese Embassy in the ROK said.

The ceremony to hand over the 12th batch of remains of Chinese soldiers was held at Incheon International Airport, west of the capital Seoul, with Chinese Vice Minister of Veterans Affairs Ma Feixiong and Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing attending.

Dai Bing covered the coffins containing the remains of the fallen soldiers with the national flag of China. All participants in the ceremony bowed to the remains, expressing their sorrow and respect.

A Chinese honor guard escorted the coffins to a PLA Air Force plane, which carried the remains of the fallen heroes to China.

Since 2014, China and the Republic of Korea have been transferring the remains of Chinese People's Volunteers. Over the past 12 years, the remains of 1,011 fallen heroes have been transferred.

The cooperation reflects the willingness of China and South Korea to overcome historical estrangement and move toward a peaceful and friendly future. The Chinese side highly appreciates the efforts of the South Korean side to provide active assistance, the Chinese Embassy in South Korea said. –0–

Moscow, September 12 /Xinhua/ — Russia calls on Poland to think about the consequences of closing the border with Belarus and reconsider the decision as soon as possible. This is stated in a comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, published on her Telegram channel on September 11.

According to the diplomat, the Polish authorities have decided to close all checkpoints on the border with the Republic of Belarus, including road and rail ones, from 00:00 on September 12. Poland's unilateral actions will cause serious damage to its international partners who use the Polish-Belarusian border for trade. "At the same time, both entrepreneurs from Poland's allied countries and national businesses will fall victim to the political ambitions of the current authorities in Warsaw," she said.

In addition, M. Zakharova believes that these restrictions by the Polish leadership undermine basic humanitarian principles, namely the freedom of movement of people. “Residents of the border regions of Poland and Belarus are deprived of the opportunity to maintain traditionally close family ties and human contacts,” she concluded.

On September 9, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the closure of the border with Belarus on the night of September 11-12 in connection with the start of the Belarusian-Russian military exercises "West-2025". Later, the head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs Marcin Kerwiński signed a corresponding order. According to it, the measure concerns both directions – entry and exit – for both people and for freight road and rail transport. –0–
