Nanning, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) — The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit opened Wednesday in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, focusing on technological and economic cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

OTTAWA, September 18 (Xinhua) — Canada plans to begin formal consultations on the North American Free Trade Agreement (CUSMA) between Canada, the United States, and Mexico within the next week, CBS News reported on Wednesday.

The government will soon issue a formal notice requesting public comment and feedback on CUSMA, the office of Dominic LeBlanc, the minister responsible for Canada-U.S. trade, said in a statement.

SHENYANG, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) — On Thursday, the 94th anniversary of the September 18 Incident was commemorated in northeast China with the ringing of bells and the wailing of sirens. The events of September 18, 1931, marked the beginning of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Hundreds of people, including veterans and their relatives, gathered in the square in front of the Shenyang September 18th History Museum in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province, northeast China, to honor the memory of those who participated in the war against Japanese aggressors.

At exactly 9:18 a.m., 14 representatives from various walks of life rang a giant bell 14 times, symbolizing the 14 years of courageous struggle of the Chinese people against the Japanese invaders.

UN, September 18 /Xinhua/ — Escalating Israeli bombing and ground operations in the Gaza Strip are leading to mounting Palestinian casualties, UN humanitarian agencies said on Wednesday.

The Ar-Rantisi Children's Hospital in the Gaza Strip was hit by multiple attacks overnight, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported, citing Gaza health authorities. The building housed 80 patients, including 12 children and infants in intensive care. Half of the patients and their caregivers were forced to flee for safety amid the shelling.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) stated that the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip is forcing women to give birth on the streets, without doctors or clean water. Vladivostok, September 18 /Xinhua/ — A code orange aviation alert has been issued in Kamchatka due to the threat of an ash column reaching a height of four kilometers. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

GUANGZHOU, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) — With the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit held at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in south China's Guangdong Province, there has been a significant increase in passenger traffic from ASEAN countries this year.

According to data from the Baiyun Airport border control point, as of the end of September 16, the airport had already handled approximately 1.5 million arriving and departing passengers from ASEAN member countries since the beginning of 2025, representing a 42.6 percent increase year-on-year. Tourists accounted for 70.5 percent of this total, a 60 percent increase year-on-year.
