Minsk, September 23 (Xinhua) — A Chinese medical equipment exhibition opened in Belarus on Tuesday. The event, held at the Great Stone Industrial Park, is organized by the China Medical Equipment Association and the Belarusian Ministry of Health.

As Belarusian Health Minister Alexander Khodjaev noted at the opening ceremony, in the modern world, technology and innovation play a key role in economic development, enhancing the competitiveness of countries, improving the well-being of people, and improving the quality of life of people in various fields.

“Our Chinese colleagues came to us not only to demonstrate the latest achievements in medical technology, but also to strengthen our bilateral cooperation in this important sector and create a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience,” he said, adding that China rightfully holds the title of world leader in the development and production of medical equipment.

"The exhibitors will present the most effective medical products, developed based on a deep understanding of modern needs, to Belarusian specialists. Our Chinese colleagues will offer cutting-edge examples of high-tech surgical medical equipment, solutions for rehabilitation and disease prevention, invasive surgery, medical imaging, radiotherapy, and infection control. I am convinced that cooperation in healthcare and medicine is key to ensuring the health of our citizens," emphasized A. Khodjaev.

Hou Yan, head of the China Medical Devices Association, noted that China and Belarus are all-encompassing strategic partners, whose ties are built on mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation. She noted that since the last exhibition, the two sides have successfully implemented numerous projects, and this year's exhibition saw the number of participating companies and the scale of its exhibit exceed last year's figures.

Hou Yan reported that the two sides also plan to conduct exchanges in areas such as traditional Chinese medicine, rehabilitation, urology, and orthopedics, which will deepen and further develop cooperation between China and Belarus in the field of medical equipment.

The exhibition will run for three days. Around 40 manufacturers from China and Belarusian organizations are participating, representing a 23 percent increase over the previous exhibition.

Ramallah, September 23 (Xinhua) — Israel will indefinitely close the only land crossing between the West Bank and Jordan, the Allenby Bridge crossing, known to Palestinians as the "Al-Karama Bridge," starting September 24. The Palestinian Borders Authority announced this on Tuesday.

As the head of the department, Nazmi Mohanna, said in a statement, the Israeli side informed them that the closure order will take effect “from Wednesday, September 24, 2025, until further notice, in both directions.”

This announcement came just a day after Israeli authorities reopened the crossing, which had been closed for four days following an armed attack that left two Israelis dead. According to the Israeli army, the attacker, who was driving a truck carrying humanitarian aid from Jordan, was killed on the spot.

Israel has not officially commented on the latest closure, but Israel Defense Forces Radio reports that this may be Israel's initial reaction to the recent recognition of the State of Palestine by a number of Western countries. –0–

RAMALLAH, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) — The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called on the international community to accept and implement the New York Declaration on a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue, saying it is key to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and achieving peace.

In its statement, the ministry welcomed the joint communiqué issued on September 22 following an international conference in New York co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France.

“We thank all the States that participated in the conference and expressed their support for the Palestinian people, their commitment to international law and legitimate international resolutions, as well as those countries that adopted the New York Declaration or recognized the State of Palestine,” the statement said.

The Ministry called on all states to sign and adopt the declaration “as soon as possible,” stressing that this would ensure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the implementation of the document’s provisions, including allowing Palestinian institutions to exercise political and legal powers in all territories occupied in 1967, including the Gaza Strip.

France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Australia and Canada are among the Western countries that recently recognized the State of Palestine and supported the “two-state solution”.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry noted that the declaration is necessary to counter Israel's ongoing military operations in Gaza and the annexation of Palestinian lands, which are taking place despite growing condemnation from the international community.

Beijing, September 23 (Xinhua) — The international community hopes that the United States and Russia will faithfully fulfill their special and primary responsibilities on nuclear disarmament, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

Guo Jiakun made the statement in response to a request to comment on the news that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed Russia's readiness to continue observing the central quantitative restrictions under the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) for one year after its expiration in February next year.

As Vladimir Putin emphasized, this measure will be viable only on the condition that the United States acts in a similar manner and “does not take steps that will undermine the balance of existing deterrent potentials.”

China highly appreciates the positive position expressed by Russia, said the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

"Regarding the New START Treaty between the US and Russia, China's position remains unchanged," Guo Jiakun stated. "It is important that the US and Russia, which possess the world's largest nuclear arsenals, fulfill their special and primary nuclear disarmament obligations, resume treaty implementation, and develop a path to further significant reductions in their nuclear stockpiles on a verifiable, irreversible, and legally binding basis."

According to the Chinese diplomat, this is exactly what the international community expects to see.

The New START Treaty, signed by Russia and the United States in 2010, sets limits on the number of deployed nuclear warheads and strategic delivery systems each side may possess. Moscow and Washington officially extended the treaty for five years in February 2021. In February 2023, Vladimir Putin signed a law suspending Russia's participation in New START, but the country has not withdrawn from the treaty entirely.

Moscow, September 23 /Xinhua/ — "Yixing ceramics combine all genres of Chinese art. This includes small sculpture, calligraphy, painting, and poetry. It also includes philosophy, of course," said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

On Monday, the diplomat presented her family collection of Chinese teapots at the Moscow Museum of Oriental Art. This unique collection was part of the exhibition "The Magic of Purple Clay: Yixing Zisha Pottery," dedicated to the centuries-old art of making teapots from Yixing clay in Jiangsu Province, eastern China.

Jiangsu Province has been a center of ceramic production for over 4,000 years. The distinctive style of Yixing teaware began to develop during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and reached its peak during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

"Why do I say it's philosophy? Because it's not just the emotional outburst of an artist who felt something and sculpted it. No, it's a profound knowledge of Chinese history, symbolism, and mythology, which is reflected in the teapot," explained M. Zakharova, emphasizing the uniqueness of each teapot.

She says her parents started collecting Chinese teapots when they were on a business trip to China in the 1980s. They acquired several teapots and realized that this wasn't just ceramics, but a vast genre connected to Chinese culture.

The exhibition features approximately 60 teapots from the M. Zakharova family collection. "We've showcased pieces that I consider to be works of art, not just tableware," she noted.

Here you can also see one of Grandma M. Zakharova's favorite teapots. "This teapot united us all—grandma, my parents, me, and our friends. Even after Grandma passed away, it still remained a special object in our lives. We remember her when we see this teapot. That's the magic," the diplomat shared.

Speaking about the phenomenon of Chinese Zisha ceramics, M. Zakharova emphasized that the Yixing teapot retains heat well, and the inner walls absorb and preserve the tea's aroma. Due to its porosity, the teapot not only retains the heat of the beverage but also enhances the flavor of each tea variety. It is believed that if you brew the same tea for many years, the teapot will release its aroma over time when boiling water is added.

"This teapot exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore China," says M. Zakharova. She hopes the exhibition will be of interest not only to specialists in Chinese culture but also to a wider audience.

The exhibition will be held at the Museum of the East from September 25 to November 9. –0–

OSLO, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) — Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Tuesday that the drone incident that led to the closure of Copenhagen Airport for several hours on Monday was a "serious attack on Danish critical infrastructure." She added that the incident should be viewed in the broader context of hybrid threats across Europe.

"We've already seen drones over Poland, activity in Romania, violations of Estonian airspace, cyberattacks on European airports over the weekend, and now drones in Denmark and Norway," M. Frederiksen told reporters.

Copenhagen's Kastrup International Airport suspended operations for approximately four hours on Monday evening, affecting approximately 20,000 passengers. Flight delays and cancellations continued on Tuesday, preventing travelers from attending study trips, honeymoons, business trips, and sporting events.

In neighboring Norway, Oslo's Gardermoen Airport was also forced to close around midnight Monday night after drones were spotted overhead. The airport reopened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Norway's police security service said it was in contact with Danish authorities to determine whether the two incidents were related.

Bishkek, September 23 (Xinhua) — The China Initiative on Global Governance (CIGG) meets the demands of today's global agenda. Its announcement is timely and symbolic, amid the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. This was stated in an interview with Xinhua by Kyrgyz political scientist Igor Shestakov.

As the political scientist emphasized, the Global Governance Initiative, which was put forward by China during the recently concluded Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in the Chinese city of Tianjin, is aimed, on the one hand, at building a just world where, regardless of territorial size and economic indicators, sovereign states have equal rights, and, on the other hand, at building a world order that is an alternative to the unipolarity that certain countries have long espoused.

According to the expert, the Chinese side insists that sovereign equality is the main prerequisite for global governance, and the rule of international law is its guarantee.

"The world today needs a fair and equal system," I. Shestakov emphasized. "Every country has the right to strive for a better future, and modernization is not the privilege of individual states. It is necessary to improve the global governance system through appropriate reforms."

The political scientist stated that the four global Initiatives proposed by China—the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative—are designed to unite and consolidate countries against challenges and establish the necessary stability in the world.

"Therefore, China's global peace initiatives are prepared to correct the growing processes of chaos and attempts to dictate terms," noted I. Shestakov. "I think that sound global powers will strive to build a multipolar world where there will be global governance, not individual control." –0–
