Tbilisi, October 22 (Xinhua) – Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, noted that the forum serves as an important platform for developing concrete solutions and implementing practical initiatives.

"Over the past ten years, the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum has become a bridge between politics and business. A number of initiatives have emerged here, translating into tangible projects. A clear example of this is the agreement reached at the previous forum in 2023 to establish a joint railway company between Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. The three-billion-dollar investment portfolio of our partner, the Asian Development Bank, in Georgia also confirms this. The meeting platforms created today are a direct invitation to businesses to form new partnerships and plan new successful projects," stated I. Kobakhidze.

According to him, the Tbilisi Financial Summit will be held for the first time in 2025 as part of the forum, positioning the Georgian capital as a regional hub for innovation.

"Today, connectivity means much more than just physical infrastructure. The Middle Corridor is no longer just a concept; it's a reality, one we contribute to every day. But in the 21st century, sustainable development requires mastering new dimensions of connectivity—energy corridors, digital highways, and the free movement of capital. Therefore, it's fitting that today's forum's panel discussions will focus on these issues: the future of global trade, the potential of the Middle Corridor, energy integration, and digital transformation.

"That's why I'm delighted that the Tbilisi Financial Summit is being held for the first time as part of this year's forum. This landmark innovation, implemented jointly with our Singaporean partners, establishes our capital as a hub for financial and technological innovation in the region," emphasized I. Kobakhidze.

BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) — Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Airbus Chief Executive Officer Guillaume Faury in Beijing on Tuesday, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement Wednesday.

Noting the steady growth of the Chinese market in recent years, Wang Wentao emphasized that China has already become the second largest consumer and import market in the world.

According to Wang Wentao, China will continue to promote Chinese modernization and develop new-quality productive forces, which will open up broad development opportunities for foreign enterprises, including Airbus.

Airbus opened its new final assembly line for the A320 family of aircraft in Tianjin, northern China, on Wednesday – the second of its kind in China and across Asia.

Wang Wentao expressed hope that Airbus will use the launch of the new final assembly line as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with China and provide more high-quality aviation products and services to both China and the world.

The Minister noted that the fragmentation of the global economy is currently intensifying, unilateralism and protectionism are having a negative impact on the international economic and trade order, and instability and uncertainty have increased significantly.

He said the Chinese side is willing to effectively utilize the roundtable mechanism for foreign enterprises, actively contribute to resolving the problems Airbus faces in doing business in China, and work together to ensure the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

Mr. Faury, in turn, stated that Airbus is full of confidence in the development of the Chinese economy and the civil aviation sector of China.

He added that the company intends to expand its presence in the Chinese market and contribute to trade and economic cooperation between China and France, as well as between China and the EU. -0-
