Busan, South Korea, October 30, Xinhua — China and the United States held in-depth talks and reached consensus on resolving the issues. Chinese President Xi Jinping announced this Thursday during a meeting with US President Donald Trump after landing in Busan to attend the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju and a state visit to the Republic of Korea.

Noting that trade and economic cooperation should remain a ballast and driving factor in China-US relations, rather than an obstacle or a source of conflict, Xi Jinping called on both sides to focus on the long-term benefits of cooperation rather than getting caught in a vicious cycle of retaliation.

He also called on the Chinese and American trade and economic groups to continually narrow the list of issues and expand the list of cooperation based on the principles of equality, respect and mutual benefit. –0–

KHARTOUM, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) — Sudan's government said on Wednesday that more than 2,000 civilians have been killed by the paramilitary Rapid Intervention Forces (RIF) in the western city of El Fasher since they entered the city.

At a press conference in Port Sudan, Deputy Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Mona Nour al-Daem called the incident “genocide against unarmed civilians.”

According to her, the SBR militants “shot at patients and the wounded in hospitals” and pursued fleeing civilians, many of whom were sexually assaulted.

Meanwhile, the volunteer organization Sudan Doctors Network reported that nearly 1,500 civilians have been killed in El Fasher by the SRF over the past three days, bringing the total number of deaths since the siege of the city began in May 2024 to over 14,000.

The Sudan Founding Alliance, which includes the RSF, several armed movements, political parties and civilian forces, has denied allegations of violence against civilians in El Fasher.

On Sunday, the SRF announced the capture of El Fasher. On Monday, Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan stated that the SAF "withdrew for military reasons" but promised to retake the city.

The war between the Sudanese army and the RSF, now in its third year, has claimed tens of thousands of lives, forced millions of people to flee their homes, and brought much of the country to the brink of famine.

BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) — Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province's cross-border e-commerce (CBE) trade volume is expected to reach 10.2 billion yuan (about 1.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2024 from 690 million yuan in 2020, with an average annual growth rate of 96 percent, the Heilongjiang Daily reported, citing data from the provincial Bureau of Commerce.

On October 28, a press conference was held in Heilongjiang Province to discuss the high-quality implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).

Xing Yingna, Deputy Director of the Provincial Bureau of Commerce, reported that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, cross-border e-commerce in Heilongjiang Province transitioned from "experimentation in pilot locations" to "cluster-scale development." The number of comprehensive national pilot zones in the fuel and energy sector has increased to four, the provincial public service platform for the fuel and energy sector serves several thousand businesses, and overseas warehouses have been built in several countries, including Russia, the United States, and Brazil.

According to Xing Ying, Heilongjiang Province's exports increased to 86.97 billion yuan in 2024 from 36.09 billion yuan in 2020, an average annual growth rate of 24.6 percent. Its leading exports now include robots used for endoscopic surgeries, agricultural drones, and other high-tech products, a number of electromechanical products such as automobiles, instruments, and engines, as well as biological products including coenzyme Q10, threonine, and lysine.

Local authorities have developed more than 20 policies to support the development of foreign trade, including export credit insurance, the issuance of preferential loans, and the prevention of currency risks, she added.

Xing Yingna noted that in the next five years, Heilongjiang will continue to improve its policies to support foreign trade, promote its innovative development, and actively implement the program to support the development of medium and small foreign trade enterprises, along with strengthening the development potential of leading foreign trade companies, in order to promote the formation of a favorable environment characterized by significant results in the creation of new drivers, diversification of foreign trade partners, and growing flexibility and vitality of trading entities. -0-

Gaza, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) — Palestinian Hamas movement said on Wednesday it was committed to the ceasefire agreement and accused Israel of violating it.

In a press statement, Hamas said Israel's recent strikes on Gaza demonstrate its "intent to undermine the ceasefire agreement and impose new realities by force, with the complicity of the US administration."

The statement comes amid mutual accusations between Israel and Hamas of violating the ceasefire in recent days.

Israel said Tuesday that remains handed over to Hamas on Monday evening belong to a hostage whose body was found by the Israeli army about two years ago.

A Hamas source later said Israel had denied representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and Palestinian factions entry into eastern Gaza City to search for the remains of Israeli hostages.

Israel's state-run Army Radio then reported that Israeli forces had struck the city of Rafah in the southern enclave. This occurred after Hamas fired at Israeli soldiers, killing one. The movement denied any involvement in the incident.

Shortly after, Israel began launching further strikes on Gaza at the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after Israel said Hamas violated a ceasefire.

The overnight strikes killed 104 Palestinians, including 46 children and 20 women, Gaza health authorities said on Wednesday.

In response, Hamas accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and postponed the handover of the remains of the Israeli hostage, scheduled for Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was not in jeopardy. He said it was "permissible for Israel to retaliate" because one of its soldiers had been killed. The Israeli military later announced that it had "begun to resume the ceasefire" following the wave of airstrikes.
