Kyiv, December 3 (Xinhua) — Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, adopted the state budget for 2026 on Wednesday, the Finance Ministry reported.

The agency noted that next year, state budget revenues are expected to reach UAH 2.9 trillion (US$68.5 billion), an increase of UAH 402 billion (US$9.5 billion) over the current year. Meanwhile, budget expenditures will increase by UAH 121.2 billion (US$2.86 billion) to UAH 4.82 trillion (US$113.87 billion).

To cover the existing deficit in 2026, Ukraine hopes to attract 2.79 trillion hryvnias (65.9 billion dollars) in external financing from the World Bank, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the IMF, and the Group of Seven (G7) countries.

The Ministry of Finance added that due to the ongoing armed conflict with Russia, defense and security will remain one of the main expenditure items in Ukraine's state budget next year. Approximately 58 percent of the country's total expenditure is planned for these needs.

Meanwhile, due to the unforeseen nature of the situation, military appropriations in 2026 may be increased by parliament, as in the current year.

The Ministry of Finance named social protection, education, healthcare, and economic support among other state budget priorities.

Commenting on the document adopted by parliament, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, in turn, stated on Telegram that next year the country's GDP is projected to continue to grow to 10.31 trillion hryvnias (243.56 billion dollars), inflation will slow, and the average wage will increase to 30,000 hryvnias (709 dollars). –0–

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday called on the Japanese side to immediately correct its erroneous words and actions regarding Taiwan to create conditions for normal trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous statements, China has repeatedly clarified its firm and fair position and called on Japan to fulfill its promises to China through concrete actions, ministry spokesman He Yadong said at a regular press briefing.

He added that Sanae Takaichi's statements had caused serious damage to the political foundation of China-Japan relations, and the Japanese side bears irrevocable responsibility for this.

“If Japan continues to be stubborn, the Chinese side will take the necessary measures, all consequences of which will be borne by the Japanese side,” he said.

Responding to a question about Japanese firms' investment in China, a Ministry of Commerce official emphasized the country's attractiveness as a key destination for global capital, citing official data showing that 54,000 new foreign-invested enterprises were established in China this year, up 14.7 percent from the previous year.

According to him, China is the second-largest consumer market in the world. The country has enormous potential in investment and consumption, he added.

He also noted that China is pursuing high-quality development and accelerating green, digital, and intelligent transformation, emphasizing its strong industrial capabilities, which provide the best application scenarios for a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.

Foreign-invested companies, including Japanese-invested enterprises, expressed optimism about the Chinese market, the agency representative added, noting that China has been and will always be an ideal, safe, and promising place for foreign business. -0-

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — China and France should seize opportunities and expand space for cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing on Thursday.

Xi Jinping said that China and France, as far-sighted and responsible major independent countries, serve as constructive forces in promoting a multipolar world and strengthening human solidarity and cooperation.

At a time when changes unseen in a century are accelerating, humanity once again stands at a crossroads, facing an important choice about its future path, Xi Jinping noted, adding that China and France must demonstrate a sense of responsibility, support multilateralism, and firmly stand on the right side of history.

Xi Jinping said that China is willing to work with France, always guided by the fundamental interests of the two peoples and the long-term interests of the international community, and adhere to equal dialogue and open cooperation to ensure that the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership develops more stably and effectively in the next 60 years, fully demonstrating its strategic value and making new contributions to advancing an equal and orderly multipolar world as well as an inclusive and inclusive economic globalization.

Xi Jinping stressed that no matter how the external environment changes, China and France must always demonstrate their strategic vision and independence as major countries, understand and support each other on issues affecting each other's core interests and major concerns, and safeguard the political foundation of bilateral relations.

At the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the CPC Central Committee's Proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development were reviewed and adopted, outlining China's development plan for the next five years and providing the world with a "list of opportunities," Xi Jinping noted.

According to Xi Jinping, China and France should seize opportunities and expand cooperation space, strengthen cooperation in traditional fields such as aviation, space and nuclear energy, and unleash the potential of cooperation in the fields of green economy, digital economy, biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence and new energy.

China is willing to import more high-quality French products, invites more French enterprises to develop in China, and hopes that France will provide a fair environment and stable expectations for Chinese enterprises, he continued.

Noting that the Chinese and French peoples share a natural sense of closeness, Xi Jinping called on both sides to deepen exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, science and technology, as well as at the local level. -0-

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — China opposes unilateral coercive measures and calls on the international community to strengthen solidarity and cooperation and jointly oppose unilateralism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday.

December 4th of each year marks the International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures. Responding to a question about the risks to the global economy that the continued use of such measures would pose, Lin Jian noted at a regular departmental press conference that unilateral coercive measures violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, undermine multilateralism, and the foundations of the rule of international law.

He added that such measures seriously violate fundamental human rights, such as the right to life and the right to development, and impede global development cooperation and the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

China calls on the international community to safeguard the international system with the UN at its core and the international order based on international law, and promote global governance in a more equitable direction, Lin Jian stressed. -0-
