Rabat, December 10 (Xinhua) — At least 19 people were killed and 16 others injured on Tuesday evening when two buildings collapsed in the city of Fez, Morocco, the country's state news agency reported.

The first building gradually collapsed around 11:00 PM local time (22:00 GMT) in the El Mustaqbal neighborhood on the outskirts of Fez. Moments later, a second, adjacent four-story building collapsed.

According to local authorities, emergency services, police, firefighters, ambulance crews, and disaster relief units quickly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations.

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday updated its forecast for China's economic growth by the end of 2025 to 5 percent year-on-year, up 0.2 percentage points from its previous forecast made in October.

The increase follows the completion of the IMF's Article IV consultation with China for 2025. According to the IMF statement, an IMF team led by China Mission Chief Sonali Jain-Chandra visited Beijing and Shanghai from December 1 to 10.

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) — China's railway construction saw steady progress in the first 11 months of 2025, with fixed investment up 5.9 percent year-on-year, according to data from state-owned China Railway Corporation (CRC).

TOKYO, December 10 (Xinhua) — At least 52 people were injured in northeastern and northern Japan after a 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck the region, local media reported on Wednesday.

Authorities in Aomori, Hokkaido and Iwate prefectures confirmed that 37, 11 and four people, respectively, were injured, the Kyodo News Agency reported.

A total of more than 300 schools were closed on Tuesday in Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, but most schools reopened on Wednesday, except for some schools damaged by the earthquake, the report said.

BANGKOK, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) — Thailand's 1st Army Area Command said on Wednesday that its task force and air force carried out a joint air strike using an F-16 fighter jet on a Cambodian military base across the border from Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo province.

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) — The militaries of China and Singapore will hold joint military exercises called "Cooperation 2025" in Singapore from early to mid-December, the Chinese Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Wednesday.

Bishkek, December 10 (Xinhua) — The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CEC) of Kyrgyzstan adopted a resolution on the results of the early elections of deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament) held on November 30, 2025. This was reported on the CEC's official website on Wednesday.

According to the resolution, the Central Election Commission recognized the elections as valid in 30 multi-member constituencies. Based on the voting results, 87 candidates were elected to parliament in 29 constituencies. The election results in the 13th multi-member constituency were declared invalid due to violations of electoral law.

In the aforementioned early elections, 4,294,243 Kyrgyz citizens were included on the voter list. Of the total number of voters, 1,584,446 took part in the vote, representing 36.90 percent of the total.

To ensure voting, the Central Election Commission opened 2,492 polling stations across the country, 27 stations for remote voting, and 100 polling stations outside of Kyrgyzstan.

As a reminder, on September 25, members of the Kyrgyz Parliament voted to dissolve themselves. The proposal was put forward by an initiative group of 32 members. As explained, there is a short period of time between two important political events—the presidential and parliamentary elections—so, in order to strengthen the political system and stability in the country, the initiative group proposed that parliament voluntarily resign.

On September 30, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree scheduling early parliamentary elections for November 30, 2025.

The Zhogorku Kenesh (Federal Assembly) is Kyrgyzstan's unicameral parliament, consisting of 90 members elected for five-year terms. According to the initial schedule, new parliamentary elections were scheduled for November 2026, but presidential elections are now scheduled for just two months later, in January 2027.
