SHANGHAI, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) — A total of 289 batches of exhibits for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), worth a total of 24.7 million U.S. dollars, have been cleared as of Oct. 31, Shanghai Customs said Monday.

With the approval of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, Shanghai Customs recently piloted the "CIIE Express" customs clearance model, allowing jewelry and other high-value exhibits to be delivered directly to the Expo site. This move was made given the lack of a comprehensive bonded warehouse in central Shanghai.

As part of the pilot program, the first batch of jewelry worth US$1.22 million was recently transported to the EXPO site, which will run from November 5 to 10.

Since the first CIIE in 2018, the expo has become a golden gateway for branded goods from around the world to enter the Chinese market. Shanghai Customs cleared 74 shipments of animal and plant products and food products from 12 countries for their debut in China. Moscow, November 3 (Xinhua) — The Russian government has imposed a temporary ban on the export of industrial sulfur, the government press service announced on Sunday.

"Russia has imposed a temporary ban on the export of certain types of sulfur. This decision will stabilize shipments of raw materials to the domestic market to maintain current mineral fertilizer production volumes and ensure the country's food security," the government said in a statement.
