SHANGHAI, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) — A total of 289 batches of exhibits for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), worth a total of 24.7 million U.S. dollars, have been cleared as of Oct. 31, Shanghai Customs said Monday.

With the approval of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, Shanghai Customs recently piloted the "CIIE Express" customs clearance model, allowing jewelry and other high-value exhibits to be delivered directly to the Expo site. This move was made given the lack of a comprehensive bonded warehouse in central Shanghai.

As part of the pilot program, the first batch of jewelry worth US$1.22 million was recently transported to the EXPO site, which will run from November 5 to 10.

Since the first CIIE in 2018, the expo has become a golden gateway for branded goods from around the world to enter the Chinese market. Shanghai Customs cleared 74 shipments of animal and plant products and food products from 12 countries for their debut in China. These included Maltese tuna, Afghan pomegranates, Australian avocados, and Benin pineapples.

According to Shanghai Customs, a total of 4,100 batches of relevant exhibits worth more than 8 billion yuan (approximately 1.12 billion US dollars) have been cleared since the Expo's inception. -0-

Moscow, November 3 (Xinhua) — The Russian government has imposed a temporary ban on the export of industrial sulfur, the government press service announced on Sunday.

"Russia has imposed a temporary ban on the export of certain types of sulfur. This decision will stabilize shipments of raw materials to the domestic market to maintain current mineral fertilizer production volumes and ensure the country's food security," the government said in a statement.

The restriction applies to the export of liquid, granulated and lump sulfur and will be in effect until December 31, 2025.

The Russian government previously extended a complete ban on gasoline exports until the end of 2025 and banned diesel fuel exports for non-producers. According to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, this measure will further supply the domestic market with petroleum products.

Beijing, November 3 (Xinhua) — An event dedicated to cultural exchanges between Chinese and Russian teenagers in 2025 was held recently in Dalian, Liaoning Province, northeast China, under the theme "Hand in Hand with Everyone for Cultural Mutual Enrichment," Partners magazine reported.

During the five-day program (from October 28 to November 1), young people from the two countries jointly participated in a number of unique cultural exchange events.

At a joint art exhibition, young participants chose the brush as a medium, engaging in a "silent dialogue" through color and creativity. In interactive activities—a calligraphy masterclass, an introduction to traditional opera, and a game of shuttlecock—Russian schoolchildren, supported by Chinese students, experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture. At a friendly evening, young artists performed together on stage, using music and dance to vividly convey the profound meaning of the motto "friendship knows no bounds."

The event was organized by Partners magazine, with co-organizers including the Dalian Art Institute, the Liaoning Provincial School of Tourism Management, the Dalian campus of Shafstone International College, and the Dalian Golden Triangle Art Gallery. Media support was provided by the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets.
