BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — The People's Bank of China (PBOC, central bank) on Monday announced it will issue a commemorative coin dedicated to the Peking Opera musical drama (jingju) on November 25.

The obverse of the brass alloy coin will feature the national emblem of the People's Republic of China and traditional Chinese opera instruments. Below the national emblem will be the year 2025. The coin will have a face value of five yuan (about 71 US cents). A mintage of 60 million pieces will be issued.

The reverse side of the coin will feature an engraved image of a "jing" (painted face) – a male role in Peking opera, executed with colorful patterns and decorative graphics – as well as the characters "zhongguo jingju yishu," meaning "the art of Chinese jingju opera," the Central Bank said in a statement.

Authorized banks will accept applications to purchase coins from November 18 to 19, and then will carry out exchanges from November 25 to December 1. -0-

NANCHANG, November 4 (Xinhua) — The Russian aerobatic team "Russian Knights," consisting of six Su-35S fighter jets and one Su-30SM, performed at the Nanchang Airshow and Aviation Industry Exhibition, which was held from October 31 to November 2 in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province, east China.

This was the first time the Russian Knights were invited to this event, which took place at the local Yaohu Airport. In the skies over Nanchang, the Russian pilots performed a series of complex and aerobatic maneuvers, including the "falling leaf" and "cobra," demonstrating the powerful maneuverability of heavy fighter jets.

In addition, on the sidelines of the event, the Russian Knights and China's first aerobatic team, Hongxing, made up of retired pilots, also held an exchange of views on aviation culture.

Pilots from the two countries had in-depth discussions on issues such as coordination and cooperation during complex formation flights, precise control of aerobatic maneuvers, and best practices in flight safety management.

"The participation of Chinese and foreign aerobatic teams, such as the Russian Knights, in this event demonstrates the profound exchange and integration of aviation cultures across different countries," said Hu Yanchun, head of the Hongxing Aerobatic Team.

As a reminder, the Russian Knights have traditionally enjoyed immense popularity among Chinese aviation enthusiasts. Last year, after eight years, they again participated in the China International Aviation and Space Show (Airshow China) in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, southern China, not only captivating the air show attendees but also generating a strong response on Chinese social media. -0-

DOHA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said Monday that China is willing to deepen cooperation with Qatar in various fields and raise the bilateral strategic partnership to a higher level.

Han Zheng, who is visiting the Qatari capital to attend the Second World Summit for Social Development, made the statement during a meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the meeting, the Chinese Vice President noted that Qatar enjoys unique and significant influence in the Middle East and is an important strategic partner for China. He emphasized that China consistently places great importance on its relations with Qatar.

Han Zheng recalled that Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Emir of Qatar reached important agreements on deepening bilateral ties during their meeting in the SCO Plus format last July.

Noting that the recent Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China reviewed and approved the recommendations for formulating the country's 15th Five-Year Plan for Social and Economic Development (2026-2030), he said that China is committed to benefiting the world through its development, which will create valuable opportunities for friendly cooperation with Qatar.

"Profound political mutual trust is the foundation of China-Qatar relations," the vice president said, adding that China is willing to work with Qatar to implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state, maintain high-level exchanges, continue to support each other on issues affecting their core interests, and deepen cooperation in energy, artificial intelligence and the digital economy to elevate the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasizing China's status as Qatar's largest trading partner, said in turn that these relations are of vital importance to Qatar.

He added that Qatar values its friendship with China, is grateful for China's support in protecting its territorial sovereignty and national security, and will firmly adhere to the one-China principle.

The Emir stated that his country is ready to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, strengthen the energy partnership with China and take bilateral relations to a new level. –0–

Baku, November 4 (Xinhua) — Georgia is seeking to further strengthen trade and economic ties with China by participating in the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held from November 5 to 10 this year in Shanghai. Tornike Zirakishvili, deputy director of the Produce in Georgia agency, stated this in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.

Calling the CIIE “the world’s first major trade fair dedicated exclusively to imports,” T. Zirakishvili believes that the CIIE demonstrates China’s desire to open up to the outside world and develop global partnerships.

“For Georgia, this platform provides a unique opportunity to increase the country’s visibility in one of the world’s most dynamic consumer markets,” he said.

T. Zirakishvili noted that the exhibition's combined format, which includes tastings, live demonstrations, and digital promotion, allows Georgian producers to directly present their products, including wines, beverages, and premium products, to Chinese distributors and retailers.

“CIIE helps Georgian exporters highlight the merits of their products, using national exposure to accelerate market entry and expand their presence,” he added.

Since 2018, the "Make in Georgia" agency has been organizing the participation of Georgian enterprises in the CIIE. This year, Georgia will participate in the exhibition for the eighth consecutive time and for the first time as a guest of honor.

Around 40 Georgian companies will represent the country at the 8th CIIE. T. Zirakishvili stated that participation in the exhibition will strengthen the country's image and open up new business opportunities in China.

Among the successful examples, he cited the leather brand Gepherrini, which opened a physical store in the city of Sanya in the Hainan province in southern China, as well as the Dugladze Wine Company, which expanded its presence on the Chinese online e-commerce platform JD.com.

T. Zirakishvili noted that Georgian products stand out in the Chinese market due to their "authenticity, quality, and origin." He emphasized that wines, mineral waters, and natural products from Georgia meet the growing demand of Chinese consumers for genuine, high-quality, and certified goods.

This year's Georgian delegation will include both experienced exporters and new brands, representing a wide range of products, including wines, nuts, juices, water, honey, and healthy lifestyle products. Many companies will showcase updated product lines tailored to the preferences of Chinese consumers, including bilingual packaging and holiday gift sets.

"CIIE has become a reliable commercial driver for Georgian exporters," noted T. Zirakishvili, adding that the exhibition strengthens Georgia's brand in China and delivers concrete results—an increase in the number of Georgian exhibitors, an expanded buyer network, and an increase in repeat orders and supply volumes.

According to T. Zirakishvili, the Produce in Georgia agency intends to further develop cooperation with China, maximizing the opportunities offered by the free trade agreement between the two countries. Priorities include developing digital trade through Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba.com and JD.com, attracting investment in logistics and tourism, and strengthening cooperation in the natural and premium food sectors.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) — The U.S. administration announced Monday that it will partially fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as the federal government shutdown enters its 34th day and is nearing a record length.

"I don't want Americans to go hungry just because radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and reopen the government. So, I've instructed our lawyers to urgently ask the court to clarify how we can legally fund SNAP," US President Donald Trump said on the social media platform TruthSocial.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced in a court filing on Monday that a total of $4.65 billion from the reserve fund will be used to pay SNAP benefits for November. This will cover 50 percent of current payments to eligible households. This decision comes after a federal judge in Rhode Island ruled on Friday that the reserve fund should be used to pay food assistance recipients.

A federal judge in Massachusetts ruled in a separate case on Friday that the Trump administration's plan to end SNAP benefits on November 1 is likely illegal. However, he did not order the government to release the funds.

The US government previously stated that it lacked the legal authority to use $5-6 billion in emergency funds to cover even a portion of the food aid program's costs. More than $8 billion is needed to fund benefits in November.

SNAP is the nation's largest hunger-relief program, serving nearly 42 million people. Most recipients live at or below the federal poverty line.

BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — China's role and contribution to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) continues to grow, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Monday, expressing confidence that Shenzhen, which will host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting next year, will put on a great event for the world.

Mao Ning made the statement at a regular departmental press conference, responding to a request to comment on considerations regarding the choice of the host city for the informal APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and China's expectations for its APEC Presidency in 2026.

After the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting concludes, the "Year of China" will soon begin for APEC, Mao Ning said, adding that China will host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen next November, hosting APEC for the third time.

From Shanghai to Beijing and Shenzhen, China's role and contribution in the APEC arena continue to grow, demonstrating China's efforts to guide Asia-Pacific cooperation, implement multilateralism, and support regional economic integration, she said.

Mao Ning noted that Shenzhen is a pilot platform for China's reform and opening-up policy, a miracle created by the Chinese people in the world's development history, and an important window for implementing China's strategy of win-win cooperation and openness.

“We believe that Shenzhen will provide the world with a wonderful informal meeting of APEC economic leaders, and we look forward to all parties gathering in Shenzhen next year,” she concluded. -0-

GUANGZHOU, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — XPENG AEROHT, the "flying car" unit of Chinese electric vehicle maker XPENG, on Monday began trial production at the world's first smart factory for mass production of electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, marking a landmark achievement in the commercialization of next-generation transportation.

The 120,000 square meter plant, located in the Huangpu District of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province in southern China, has already produced the first detachable electric aircraft of the Land Aircraft Carrier modular vehicle.

The plant's design production capacity is 10,000 removable aircraft modules per year, with an initial capacity of 5,000 units. This is the largest production capacity of any similar plant globally. Once fully operational, the plant will be able to assemble one aircraft every 30 minutes.

XPENG AEROHT has already received orders for nearly 5,000 "flying cars" since its unveiling. Serial production and deliveries are planned for 2026.

The "flying car" consists of a six-wheeled ground vehicle called the "mothership" and a detachable electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft.

The electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft offers both automatic and manual flight modes. Its automatic mode enables intelligent route planning and one-touch takeoff and landing.

The vehicle is approximately 5.5 meters long. It can be driven on public roads with a standard license and parked in regular parking spaces. -0-
