BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) — The Ganqimaodu border crossing in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has seen rapid development and demonstrated significant trade potential during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the Neimenggu Ribao daily reported Thursday.

According to local customs statistics, cargo turnover through this checkpoint exceeded 135 million tons from the beginning of 2021 to the end of September 2025. Specifically, in the first nine months of this year, the figure approached 30 million tons.

The Ganqimaodu checkpoint is a key hub of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and one of China's border logistics hubs. It facilitates the creation of a relatively convenient land channel for mineral imports from Mongolia, accounting for a third of the combined cargo turnover of the 14 border checkpoints in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The rapid development of the Ganqimaodu checkpoint would not have been possible without the implementation of a number of innovative measures. Local customs implemented an intelligent vehicle inspection and release system, ensuring that each vehicle clears customs in just over 10 seconds. Remote customs control significantly increased the efficiency of customs clearance at the checkpoint.

"The use of an intelligent system has simplified customs clearance of goods, saving businesses a significant amount of time and money," noted one local customs official.

The Ganqimaodu border crossing has demonstrated strong innovative potential in cross-border transportation. On July 16, 2022, its administration launched a cross-border freight transport model using automated guided vehicles (AGVs). By the end of October 2025, AGVs had transported a total of 9.6 million tons of imported cargo, providing a significant boost to freight throughput at this crossing.

Infrastructure construction is a reliable guarantee for the development of the Ganqimaodu border crossing. On May 14, 2025, construction of the 9.91-kilometer cross-border railway, which will pass through this border crossing, officially began.

It will be the second cross-border railway line between China and Mongolia. Its construction is expected to be completed in 2027. Once operational, its throughput capacity could reach 30 million tons per year, allowing the Ganqimao crossing to further increase freight volumes and trade. -0-

URUMQI, November 7 (Xinhua) — Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will launch a consumer voucher program on November 14 to stimulate winter tourism during the snowy season, the local Department of Culture and Tourism announced on Thursday.

A total of 10,000 vouchers with a face value of 20 yuan (about $2.82) each will be valid for use at 11 ski resorts in the region rated 4S and above, covering popular winter destinations such as Urumqi, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture and Altay County, the department said.

Vouchers are valid for ski passes (ski pass cards) worth 100 yuan or more. Skiers can redeem vouchers through a WeChat mini-program.

Renowned for its long snow season and high snow quality, Xinjiang has developed a comprehensive winter tourism system that combines skiing, snow-capped landscapes, and local culture.

During the last snow season, standard ski resorts in Xinjiang received about 3.57 million tourists, up 10.22 percent year-on-year, and generated tourism revenue of 844 million yuan, up 39.13 percent year-on-year.

Li Meng, a representative of the aforementioned department, said that the voucher program will run until February 2026. It is aimed at stimulating spending on winter sports and promoting high-quality development of the winter tourism sector in the region. -0-

SHANGHAI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) — Pudong New Area in east China's Shanghai is consolidating its position as a leading innovation hub, as evidenced by the area's significant achievements in three major industries: integrated circuits, biomedicine and artificial intelligence (AI).

The progress was highlighted at the Pudong Sub-Forum of the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum, which was held in Shanghai on Thursday.

The integrated circuit (IC) sector has demonstrated remarkable resilience and growth. According to data, IC component exports in the region reached $20.6 billion in value in the first three quarters of 2025, an increase of 7.4 percent year-on-year, providing stability to the global IC supply chain.

Wu Jincheng, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Government and Governor of the Pudong New Area, noted that the Pudong New Area has essentially created a self-sufficient integrated circuit (IC) industrial chain, encompassing design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, equipment, materials, and EDA software. The integrated circuit sector in the area is worth $41 billion in total value.

Moreover, the Pudong New Area has become a hub for over 4,000 biomedical companies. Innovation in this sector is accelerating: business development deals related to innovative drugs have reached a significant value of $20.4 billion.

The AI sector in the Pudong New Area is also developing dynamically. The mobility community within the Zhangjiang Science City, which has been in operation for just 14 months, has already attracted over 150 specialized large-scale enterprises. Beyond AI, the area is actively developing future industries—high-end autonomous driving testing tracks spanning over 1,000 km have been opened there, as well as the world's first outdoor 6G testing environment.

Recently, a large number of migratory birds flying south stopped to feed at the Hailushui Reservoir in Tumed Zuoqi District, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Swans, ducks, grey herons, and other birds either floated carefree or flew in flocks, filling the sky and water with life. In the evening, the setting sun painted the sky a warm orange-red, generously shedding its light, while flocks of migratory birds flying overhead added the most vibrant touch to this beautiful scene. In recent years, Tumed Zuoqi District has continued to strengthen ecological protection, improving the reservoir and surrounding ecosystem, creating ideal conditions for migratory birds and allowing more people to enjoy this spectacle.

"Lidun," or "Beginning of Winter," is the first winter season. It usually begins on November 7th or 8th.

China is a vast country, so for areas located at different latitudes, “Beginning of Winter” means different phenological phenomena – winter in the literal sense of the word does not arrive everywhere.

Minsk, November 6 (Xinhua) — The Belarusian new passenger car market saw a significant upswing in October, according to data released by the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA) on Thursday.

New passenger car sales in October increased by more than 15 percent compared to September of this year. "At the same time, compared to the same period last year, the market volume in October 2025 remained at the same level as in 2024," the BAA noted.

The association reported that the positive sales dynamics in October compared to September were largely due to the expansion of dealer model ranges. The market was driven primarily by the active launch of new hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Belarusian brand Belgee maintains its leading position in the Belarusian market, with 2,395 vehicles sold in October. The Belgee X50 holds the undisputed lead in the model rankings. Cumulative sales of this crossover since the beginning of 2025 have already exceeded 8,400 units. –0–

Yerevan, November 6 (Xinhua) — A freight train arrived in Armenia for the first time in nearly 30 years, traveling through Azerbaijan and Georgia. Fifteen train cars of Russian wheat were delivered to the country, the Armenian government press service reported on Thursday.

The statement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia noted that the lifting of restrictions on cargo transportation to Armenia is an important step for Azerbaijan towards restoring regional communications and advancing economic cooperation.

It is emphasized that this is one of the practical results of the agreements reached in Washington on August 8, 2025. The Armenian government believes that this initiative contributes to the institutionalization of peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan and is particularly important in the context of strengthening mutual trust and advancing the peace agenda.

It is expected that in the coming days, wheat from Kazakhstan will also be delivered to Armenia by rail through the territory of Azerbaijan. –0–

After N. Pelosi announced her resignation from Congress, D. Trump sharply criticized her, saying in an interview with Fox News that “she was evil, corrupt, and focused only on what was bad for our country.” –0–
