Sana'a, November 10 (Xinhua) — Yemen's Houthi militia warned Sunday that it would resume rocket and drone strikes against Israel if the Gaza ceasefire is violated, according to a letter sent to the Palestinian Hamas movement.

The threat comes amid heightened regional tensions that could undermine the fragile US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza, as well as renewed tensions between Iran and the US over protracted nuclear talks, the rebel-controlled Al-Masirah television channel reported.

In a letter, the newly appointed Houthi chief of staff, Yousef al-Madani, stated: “We remain true to our promise and will stand with you despite the sacrifices.”

From the start of the Gaza War in October 2023 until the current ceasefire took effect on October 10, the Houthis launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, most of which were reportedly intercepted. The group also attacked Israeli-affiliated ships in the Red Sea, sinking four of them.

Last week, the Houthis declared a general mobilization, recruiting hundreds of tribal fighters, tightening security in their areas, setting up additional checkpoints, and detaining more UN staff on alleged charges of spying for Israel.

They also sent reinforcements to the front lines near the oil-rich province of Marib, controlled by Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces.

These developments followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's televised address last week in which he said the Houthis posed a threat to Israel and that "work is underway to eliminate them." –0–

Shanghai, November 10 (Xinhua) — "This is our third trip to the China International Import Expo (CIIE)," said Lali Manasherova, CEO of the Georgian wine company Paradais, while presenting a famous Georgian wine in clay bottles.

The 8th CIIE is taking place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, bringing together over 4,000 distributors from 150 countries and regions. It's worth noting that Georgia is participating for the first time as a guest of honor.

As L. Manasherova explained, wine in clay bottles is a unique drink that embodies Georgia's centuries-old winemaking traditions.

"Clay bottles containing the drink come in a variety of shapes. They can be decorated with relief patterns, painted, shaped like figurines, ancient amphoras, and jugs, reminiscent of the handicrafts of folk artists," she said, noting that wine in clay bottles is distinguished by its attractive appearance, which immediately evokes the culture and way of life of the country.

L. Manasherova was absent from the exhibition from 2020 to 2024, but she decided to return this year. "The growing Chinese market is very attractive. I see enormous potential here," L. Manasherova said.

According to her, compared to European wine brands, Georgian wine is likely less well-known. "But the Import Expo allows us to showcase our products and creates opportunities to expand our presence in the growing Chinese market," she added.

As Georgia's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, noted, participation in the CIIE will ensure growth in Georgian exports to the Chinese market.

“As part of the exhibition, we will be able to introduce Georgian products to local Chinese companies, as well as the private sector,” she explained, adding that all this will strengthen the position of our entrepreneurs and expand the possibilities for producing Georgian products. –0–

BEIJING, November 10 (Xinhua) — China and Central Asia will explore cooperation opportunities in industrialization, digitalization, and green transformation of the construction industry, the Ministry of Housing, Urban-Rural Development said on Sunday.

According to the agency, the China-Central Asia Construction Ministers' Meeting 2025 was recently held in Beijing. Construction ministers and departmental representatives from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan discussed strengthening practical cooperation and jointly promoting high-quality development in housing construction, as well as urban and rural development.

Following the meeting, the Beijing Initiative was adopted and an important consensus was reached on the construction of safe, comfortable, green, and smart "beautiful homes," promoting the construction of new cities and new districts and urban renewal, as well as exploring opportunities for cooperation in industrialization, digitalization, and the green transformation of the construction industry.

The relevant person in charge of the above-mentioned Chinese ministry put forward the following four proposals for deepening cooperation between China and Central Asia in the fields of housing, urban and rural construction:

Firstly, it is necessary to establish a regular communication and coordination mechanism, hold regular seminars, exchanges and trainings on housing and urban development issues, and create a platform and provide channels for problem-solving cooperation between the parties.

Secondly, it is important to strengthen cooperation in the field of engineering construction standardization, promote mutual borrowing and integration of engineering construction standards, jointly establish engineering laboratories and other technical platforms, and continuously study and overcome engineering and technical difficulties.

Third, we should explore the possibilities of cooperation in the development and construction of new cities and new areas, make full use of China's experience in planning, construction and management, and carry out practical cooperation with the five Central Asian countries in the development and construction of new cities and new areas.

Fourth, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in the field of global human environment governance within the UN, actively respond to UN calls, participate in events dedicated to World Cities Day and in the World Urban Award program, and jointly promote the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the New Urban Agenda, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. -0-

On November 5, the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened in Shanghai. Speaking at the opening ceremony, leaders of many countries and heads of international organizations stated that the expo fully demonstrates China's openness, inclusiveness, and responsibility as a major country. China's super-large market offers significant development opportunities for countries around the world and contributes to advancing the common development and prosperity of countries in the Global South.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his appreciation for the open cooperation platform established at the CIIE. He stated that the exhibition plays a vital role in promoting the development of all countries and the formation of a more open and resilient global economy, reflecting China's efforts to foster mutually beneficial cooperation between countries. China is an important trading partner for Georgia, and China's increased openness offers significant opportunities for the development of Georgian enterprises. In recent years, cooperation between the two countries in areas such as energy, transport, and tourism has steadily deepened. Georgia intends to fully leverage its geographical advantages, continue to deepen its strategic partnership with China, and expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut stated that the free trade agreement between Serbia and China opens up enormous opportunities for promoting trade between the two countries, allowing more Serbian products to enter China's massive market of 1.4 billion people. Serbia is ready to further strengthen its "iron friendship" with China, develop a comprehensive strategic partnership, and advance bilateral cooperation. Serbia participates in the CIIE annually, and the scale of its participation is expanding. This year, at EXPO Serbia will more fully showcase its economic and investment potential, focusing on promoting products in sectors such as the food industry and tourism. The country will maintain its presence in this market.

Nigerian House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas stated that the CIIE demonstrates the important role of trade in overcoming regional differences and building bridges between countries, and reflects China's commitment to sharing opportunities and prosperity with the world. Relations between Nigeria and China are rapidly developing, and bilateral cooperation in areas such as transportation, communications, energy, and manufacturing has achieved significant results. China's continued deepening cooperation with Nigeria and African countries in general offers enormous prospects.

Slovenian State Council Speaker Marko Lotrich noted that the Import Expo is the world's first national exhibition dedicated to imports, bringing together businesses and investors from around the world to exchange ideas, technologies, and generate new business opportunities. Participation in the exhibition gives Slovenian companies the opportunity to showcase their products and expand their international connections. He described the CIIE as a bridge that fosters international dialogue, strengthens ties between countries, and promotes shared development.

In her video address, Rebecca Grynspan, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), noted that the CIIE opens up new opportunities for exhibitors from developing countries: here, market access truly translates into real market presence—all of which demonstrates the power of trade to create opportunities. By promoting openness and cooperation, China offers all countries, especially developing countries, the opportunity to share in the fruits of development.
