Beijing, November 10 (Xinhua) — The Chinese hovercraft Longfei-2 departed from the Tongjiang River Port of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Monday for the Russian port of Nizhneleninskoye, marking the official opening of the international hovercraft shipping route at this Chinese river checkpoint for the autumn-winter period of 2025, the Zhongguo Xinwenwang news portal reported.

Following the onset of ice drift on the Heilongjiang/Amur River, traditional waterborne transportation methods became limited, and hovercraft, thanks to their unique advantages of hydrostatic force and speed, became a new option for waterborne transportation. The minimum required travel time from the eastern operational area of the Tongjiang River Port to the port of Nizhneleninskoye is 5 minutes.

According to the Tongjiang Port border control office, the first flight currently departs daily at 8:00 a.m. Beijing time. To facilitate this service, two hovercraft have been commissioned, operating back-to-back round-trip routes.

Tongjiang is the only checkpoint in Heilongjiang Province that handles transportation by water, road, and rail. -0-

SEOUL, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — South Korea's special prosecutor's team on Monday indicted former President Yun Seok-yul on charges of aiding the enemy.

Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok's spokesman said at a briefing that a team of independent lawyers had accused Yun Seok-yeol of aiding the enemy and abuse of power.

The former defense minister and the former head of counterintelligence were also charged with the same crimes.

The representative noted that Yun Seok-yul undermined the military interests of the Republic of Korea by increasing the risk of inter-Korean armed conflict in order to create conditions for the introduction of martial law.

The ousted leader was detained in the presidential administration on January 15 and on January 26 he was charged with organizing a rebellion.

Yun Seok-yeol was released on March 8 after prosecutors decided not to appeal the court's release decision, but he was taken back into custody on July 10.

On April 4, the Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment petition against Yun Seok-yul over his failed attempt to impose martial law last December, formally removing him from office.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — The U.S. Senate on Sunday evening approved a bipartisan package of spending bills aimed at ending the longest government shutdown, which has entered its 40th day and caused a series of growing disruptions to government operations.

The upper chamber voted 60-40 in a key procedural vote to pass a spending package that will fund most federal agencies at current levels through January 30, as well as the Agriculture Department, Veterans Affairs and Pentagon construction projects, and congressional activities for the entire fiscal year.

The package will provide full-year funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which was jeopardized by the extended government shutdown.

As part of the Democrats' deal to end the shutdown, Senate Majority Leader John Thune promised Democratic senators a vote "no later than the second week of December" to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies that are set to expire at the end of the year.

While both sides were making progress, nearly 3,000 flights were canceled and more than 10,000 were delayed across the country on Sunday, highlighting the growing impact of the shutdown on everyday American life.

From November 5 to 10, Shanghai is hosting the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), one of the world's largest events showcasing China's commitment to high-quality openness and mutually beneficial cooperation. Central Asian countries are actively participating in the exhibition, showcasing their best products and seeking to exploit new opportunities in the dynamically developing Chinese market.

Kyrgyzstan presented its own national exposition for the first time, seeking to conclude new agreements and attract Chinese investment.

According to Dzhumaliev, Deputy Director of the Kyrgyz Export Center, the country's stand has been significantly expanded compared to previous years. The joint exhibit brought together 15 companies from various industries—from dried fruit producers and soft and alcoholic beverage producers to those producing national clothing, baked goods, and soap.

According to Djumaliev, participation in the CIIE creates unique opportunities for Kyrgyz businesses. He expressed hope for signing export contracts, establishing new partnerships, and attracting investment from China. He also noted that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway as part of the Belt and Road Initiative is of particular importance, as it will enable Kyrgyzstan to become an important transit hub in Central Asia.

The country's representative expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and the exhibition organizers for their support and the provision of free booths. "This opens up great opportunities for us, especially given the exhibition's import focus. This is an important opportunity for us to export Kyrgyz products to China," he noted.

More than 50 Uzbek companies are participating in CIIE-2025

Uzbekistan has been participating in the exhibition since 2018 and is strengthening its presence there each year.

Azamat Rakhmonov, Head of the Department for Cooperation with China at the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, noted that participation in the CIIE is yielding tangible results: "We are already seeing the effectiveness of this platform in attracting partners from China," he emphasized. He noted that both the number of participants and visitors is growing every year. International companies actively use the Expo to expand partnerships and enter new markets.

According to Rakhmonov, this year's exhibition features more than 50 Uzbek companies displaying over 150 types of products. He emphasized that, given China's growing openness, the country is Uzbekistan's largest trading partner. "Thanks to our participation in the EXPO, Uzbek companies are finding more and more partners interested in our products. We see that Uzbek goods are becoming recognizable in the Chinese market," Rakhmonov noted.

A representative of Kazakhstan highly appreciates the importance of the exhibition

Kazakhstan has been participating in the CIIE since 2018, and for eight years now, it has consistently showcased its products at this prestigious international venue. This year, the country brought together a record number of participants—over 100 companies—and showcased Kazakh products across four exhibition venues.

As noted by Ainur Sultanalievna Amirbekova, PhD, Deputy General Director of QazTrade, the single operator for export development under the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the exhibition presents "Kazakhstan's agro-industrial showcase"—products that reflect the purity of nature, concern for health, and a commitment to innovation.

According to her, the CIIE promotes the balanced development of China's foreign trade within the framework of a "new model of an open economy," which emphasizes not only exports but also stimulating imports and domestic demand. This makes the exhibition an important tool for modernizing consumption patterns and stimulating innovative growth.

She also added that the CIIE is particularly important for emerging economies, providing them with a platform to build trust and identify new growth opportunities. CIIE 2025 is not just the largest import expo, but also a platform that reflects China's commitment to openness, innovation, and win-win development. The expo showcases products, builds trust, creates new growth opportunities for the global economy, and supports global connectivity in a changing world.

BEIJING, November 10 (Xinhua) — China produced 271.78 tons of gold in the first nine months of 2025, up 1.39 percent year-on-year, according to data from the China Gold Association (CGA).

During the reporting period, gold consumption in China amounted to 682.73 tons, which is 7.95 percent less than a year earlier, the KOZ noted.

In particular, gold jewelry consumption in the Chinese market fell by 32.5 percent year-on-year to 270.04 tons, while consumption of gold bars and coins increased by 24.55 percent year-on-year to 352.12 tons, and gold consumption in industrial production and other areas increased by 2.72 percent to about 60.58 tons.

The aforementioned association noted that the performance of various gold product segments varied significantly during this period. Lightweight and high-value-added jewelry retained relatively strong market appeal and demonstrated strong sales, demand for bullion remained robust, and the escalation of geopolitical conflicts and economic uncertainty strengthened gold's role as a safe haven asset.

At the same time, the rapid development of industries such as electronics and new energy sources contributed to the growth of industrial demand for gold, the KAZ added.

In addition, gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the Chinese market demonstrated strong growth rates in January-September of this year. -0-

WASHINGTON, November 10 (Xinhua) — More than 2,000 flights were canceled and over 8,000 were delayed across the country on Sunday, the 40th day of the U.S. federal government shutdown, according to data from U.S. flight tracking website FlightAware.

Since the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) flight reduction policy took effect on Friday, the number of canceled flights has risen sharply from 202 on Thursday to 1,025 on Friday and 1,566 on Saturday.

Since the shutdown began on October 1, more and more air traffic controllers have been taking leave, forcing those remaining to work overtime.

The U.S. Department of Transportation and the FAA recently announced a 10 percent reduction in capacity at 40 of the nation's largest airports, starting Friday, to reduce the burden on staff and reduce airspace safety risks. –0–
