Almaty, November 12 (Xinhua) — The Senate (the upper house of parliament) of Kazakhstan approved 22 roadmaps outlining technological and compensatory measures to reduce pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions at energy facilities. XI'AN, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) — A total of 573 stone fortresses dating from prehistoric times to the Shang Dynasty (around 1600 BC to 1046 BC) have been discovered in what is now Yulin County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, following a six-year comprehensive archaeological survey.

The specialized census, launched in 2019 with the participation of the Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Team of Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, was systematically conducted in the vast area with complex topography of Yulin County.

Using existing waterway maps, archaeologists determined the locations of the aforementioned ancient sites, completing sample collection and recording baseline data. They then began aerial surveys, mapping the discovered prehistoric stone forts, and collecting relevant information, followed by data processing and testing of the collected samples.

According to the survey, these stone fortresses existed from 2800 BC to 1000 BC, that is, from the late period of the Neolithic Yangshao culture to the junction of the Shang and Zhou dynasties (1046 BC – 256 BC).

Most of them are located along riverbanks. Fortresses were often surrounded by several settlements without defensive stone walls, clearly demonstrating their clustered interconnectedness, said Ma Mingzhi, head of the research team.

The development of these fortresses shows that settlements gradually expanded in size, their spatial architecture became more complex, and their construction techniques matured. Characteristics indicating the gradual stratification of tribal society became more pronounced.

The survey provided new information for a comprehensive understanding of the origin, development, distribution and evolution of prehistoric sites in northern China. -0-

Islamabad, November 12 (Xinhua) — At least 12 people were killed in a suicide bombing near the District Court Complex here on Tuesday, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said.

"The incident occurred at 12:39 local time /07:39 GMT/ when the attacker attempted to enter the court complex to commit mass murder, but after failing to gain entry, he detonated an explosive device outside the building," he said on Tuesday.

The minister said preliminary reports indicate a possible link between the blast and a recent attack in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

"We link this explosion to many things, and we will have complete clarity in the coming hours or days… Identifying the attacker is our top priority. Whoever was behind this, locals or foreigners, no one will escape punishment," Naqvi noted.

The banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack, threatening to carry out more such attacks in the future.

Police and emergency services reported that the explosion damaged nearby cars and caused panic among passersby. Forensic experts collected evidence at the scene, including the remains of the suspected bomber.

The Islamabad Bar Council condemned the attack, calling a three-day strike and calling for increased security measures to protect the legal community and citizens.

Ankara, November 12 (Xinhua) — All 20 Turkish military personnel aboard the C-130 military transport plane that crashed in Georgia near the border with Azerbaijan have died, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday.

Turkish and Georgian authorities launched coordinated search and rescue operations immediately after receiving information about the accident, the statement said.

According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the plane, en route from Azerbaijan to Turkey, disappeared from radar 27 minutes after entering Georgian airspace and then crashed approximately five kilometers from the border with Azerbaijan in Georgia's Sighnaghi municipality.

Brasilia, November 12 (Xinhua) — Cities, businesses, and civil society play a central role in implementing climate change mitigation strategies, according to a UN report released Tuesday at the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), which is taking place in the Brazilian Amazon.

The Global Climate Action Annual Report 2025, launched in COP30 host city Belém, notes that these non-state actors, or “non-parties,” play a vital role in advancing global efforts to curb global warming.

The report provides an overview of global efforts to combat climate change, highlighting both progress and challenges that have emerged in the 10 years since the landmark Paris Agreement was adopted in 2015.

This year's report "demonstrates that the Global Agenda for Climate Action has evolved from a platform for mobilization to an instrument for implementation," Simon Steele, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), noted in the foreword.
