BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Comoros President Azali Assoumani exchanged congratulations on Thursday on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Recalling that China was the first to establish diplomatic relations with the Comoros, Xi Jinping noted that over the past half century, regardless of changes in the international situation, relations between the two countries have always maintained healthy and stable development.

According to him, in recent years, political mutual trust between the two countries has been steadily strengthening, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results, creating a model of equality, solidarity, and mutual assistance between countries of different sizes.

Xi Jinping noted that he attaches great importance to the development of bilateral ties and expressed his readiness to work with President A. Assoumani to take advantage of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to develop traditional friendship.

The Chinese leader also called for joint efforts to promote the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, continuously enrich the bilateral strategic partnership, and make greater contributions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.

In his message, A. Assoumani noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, Comoros and China have maintained mutual respect and trust, demonstrated solidarity, and built strong and lasting friendships. The fruitful results of bilateral cooperation have fundamentally changed the lives of the Comorians, he added.

In this changing and turbulent world, the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and mutually beneficial cooperation advocated by President Xi Jinping have inspired countries in the Global South, including Comoros, noted A. Assoumani.

The Comorian side highly appreciates China's vision of building a peaceful, just and multipolar world and is willing to work with China under the guidance of the concept of a community with a shared future to continue promoting sustainable and inclusive development and make due contributions to strengthening solidarity, cooperation and common prosperity between Africa and China, the President concluded.

ANKARA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — The Palestinian Hamas movement has demonstrated its willingness to take constructive steps to achieve a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said here on Wednesday, calling on Israel to take the same approach to achieve peace.

"Hamas is demonstrating its willingness to take constructive steps to ensure a permanent ceasefire. Israel must demonstrate the same understanding," said H. Fidan at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ata, who was visiting the country.

H. Fidan stated that Gaza is an integral part of Palestine and the international community should treat it as such.

He also announced that a Turkish ship carrying humanitarian aid had departed from the port of Mersin to the Egyptian port of El Arish to deliver supplies to Gaza, and confirmed that Turkey would participate in the upcoming Gaza conference hosted by Egypt.

Speaking about Gaza's post-war future, H. Fidan said that the UN Security Council is currently discussing the mandate of the proposed international stabilization force. "It is necessary to clarify the responsibilities of this force and the legal and political framework for the Palestinian Committee and the Peace Council, which are expected to govern Gaza," he said.

B. Abdel Atty, in turn, stated that Egypt and Turkey agreed to work together to ensure a ceasefire and advance the peace process. He said both countries support the diplomatic efforts of Qatar and the United States to make the ceasefire permanent and reaffirmed their support for the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.

Ottawa, November 13 (Xinhua) — Canada imposed new sanctions against Russia on Wednesday. They target individuals and entities linked to the energy sector, military capabilities, and cyber infrastructure.

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced in a press release that the measures target 13 individuals and 11 entities under the country's Special Economic Measures regulations.

According to the press release, these measures are aimed at weakening Russia's conventional and hybrid military capabilities, as well as reducing its energy export revenues and financial capacity. The sanctions list includes several individuals and entities associated with drone production in Russia.

Canada has for the first time imposed sanctions on entities that supply cyber infrastructure allegedly used in Russian hybrid strategies against Ukraine, the report said.

In addition, the sanctions list includes several Russian companies involved in liquefied natural gas, as well as 100 vessels considered part of Russia’s “shadow fleet.”

The press release said the measures were taken in line with recent sanctions announced by the United States, the EU and the UK, and support ongoing G7 efforts to apply economic pressure on Russia. –0–
