JIUQUAN, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) — China's manned spacecraft Shenzhou-20 does not meet the requirements for the safe return of astronauts to Earth and will remain in orbit to continue related experiments, the China Manned Space Administration (CMSA) said Friday.

According to the CMSA, small cracks were found in the window of the spacecraft's return capsule, which were most likely caused by external impact from space debris.

On November 11, Hubei Province's first interprovincial low-altitude cargo air route, Zhanghe (Jingmen) – Liangping (Chongqing), officially opened. A plane loaded with Zhanghe oranges departed from Zhanghe (Jingmen) Airport and arrived in Liangping (Chongqing) after a nearly two-hour flight.

This route is jointly operated by Jingmen City in Hubei Province, Liangping District in Chongqing, and logistics company SF Express. Services operate three times a week, with a cargo capacity of 1.2 tons per trip.

The opening of this route is a breakthrough in the development of Jingmen's low-altitude economy. It will help reduce logistics costs, facilitate the efficient movement of regional freight flows, and promote the coordinated development of regional supply chains.

On November 11, the website of the Brazilian magazine Forum published an article titled “COP30: Dialogue of Great Civilizations across Great Rivers.”

The article states that the Yangtze River is one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. To this day, the Yangtze Basin region maintains economic vitality thanks to its deep integration with other regions of China and the world. The Amazon River, however, witnessed the decline of indigenous trade. It later became the main conduit for rubber exports.

In recent years, trade exchanges between China and South America have brought new hope for development to Brazil. The economies of China and South American countries complement each other significantly. Economic integration achieved through the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative links the Yangtze River basin with the Amazon basin, opening up new development opportunities for the people of South America.

The exchange of experience between the Amazon and Yangtze basins also has broad prospects for environmental protection.

In the Yangtze River basin, the number of these endangered dolphins is steadily increasing, thanks to the work of the China River Dolphin National Nature Reserve in Tian'ezhou.

Amazon river dolphins are also facing the threat of extinction. Brazil can learn from China that environmental protection must go hand in hand with economic and social development, as people need environmental education to understand the importance of protecting the natural environment, as well as professional opportunities that will enable them to coexist harmoniously with nature.

In terms of carbon reduction, China is participating in COP30 with ambitious goals and impressive results: as of the end of July 2024, China's total installed wind and solar power capacity had reached the 2030 target, more than six years ahead of schedule. China is actively pursuing the strategy of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality as a national priority.

China's success in reducing emissions is largely due to the rapid transformation of its energy mix. Previously heavily dependent on coal, the country has built up significant renewable energy capacity in recent years.

COP30 reminds us that exchange and mutual learning among civilizations are the only way to successfully combat climate change and build a community of shared destiny for humanity.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) — The People's Liberation Army Navy's first Type 076 amphibious assault ship (UDC) Sichuan set out from Shanghai, east China, on Friday morning for its maiden sea trial.

During sea trials, the main focus will be on checking the reliability and stability of the vessel's power, electrical and other systems.

This domestically developed ship was launched in December 2024 and assigned the hull number 51.

Since then, construction work on the ship has progressed according to schedule. Mooring trials have been successfully completed, along with equipment installation and system debugging, ensuring the technical conditions for sea trials are met.

The maximum displacement of the Sichuan UDC exceeds 40,000 tons; it has two island superstructures and a full-length flight deck.

As a new-generation amphibious assault ship of the PLA Navy, the Sichuan LCS is equipped with innovative electromagnetic catapult and arresting gear technologies, allowing it to carry fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and amphibious vehicles.

TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei on Thursday rejected the Group of Seven (G7) criticism of the Islamic Republic, calling it "baseless and irresponsible."

This was stated in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the joint communiqué of the G7 foreign ministers, released on Wednesday following their meeting in Canada.

The G7 foreign ministers condemned Iran for its alleged military support for Russia in the conflict with Ukraine and called on Tehran to fully comply with its obligations under UN Security Council resolutions and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and to resume full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), including by allowing inspections of all nuclear facilities and materials.

The ministers also called on Iran to begin direct talks with the United States with the support of the EU3 countries (the UK, Germany and France), and on UN member states to honour their commitments following the recent entry into force of the snapback mechanism to restore UN sanctions against Tehran.

E. Baghaei condemned the G7 countries for their “irresponsible” support for the “illegal and unjustified” actions of the EU3 and the United States, which abused the 2015 nuclear deal’s dispute resolution mechanism to reinstate previously lifted UN Security Council sanctions against Tehran.

He also emphasized that Israel and the United States have unleashed "illegal aggression" against Iran, including attacks on "peaceful" nuclear facilities. The G7's request for Tehran to cooperate with the IAEA without acknowledging the joint crimes committed by Israel and the United States is hypocritical, the diplomat stated.

E. Baghaei also rejected the accusations related to the Ukrainian conflict, calling them "repetitive and irresponsible." He emphasized that Iran fundamentally opposes war and supports a resolution to the conflict through dialogue and negotiations.

As Bloomberg reported on October 28, at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, participants reviewed the CPC Central Committee's proposals for developing the 15th Five-Year Plan. These proposals state that China intends to "promote the formation of an economic development model that is even more strongly based on the leading role of domestic demand and the driving role of consumption, and is characterized by domestically driven growth."

This formulation demonstrates the determination of Chinese policymakers to actively stimulate domestic consumption.

According to Hu Weijun, Macquarie's chief China economist, one of the document's key points is the proposal to increase the share of consumer spending. "This indicates that the role of consumption will steadily increase over the long term."

According to the proposals for the next five-year plan, starting in 2026, the government will increase spending on public services and strive to promote employment over the next five years. At the same time, China will maintain a reasonable rate of investment growth, which will also provide additional incentive for expanding domestic demand. China will "implement a number of major landmark projects."

According to a report on the website of the Singapore newspaper Lianhe Zaobao on October 29, Chinese politicians demanded that the "appropriate pace" of socio-economic development be maintained over the next five years and proposed taking "extraordinary measures" to stimulate breakthroughs in science and technology, as well as significantly increasing the share of consumer spending.

To address current problems such as the lack of effective domestic demand, the Proposals set goals for a significant increase in the share of consumer spending by the population and a continuous strengthening of the role of domestic demand as the main driving force of economic growth.
