Dar es Salaam, January 10 (Xinhua) — Tanzania and China have committed to aligning their development strategies to accelerate shared growth, according to a joint press communiqué released on Saturday.

The document was released following talks between the foreign ministers of Tanzania and China in Dar es Salaam. Tehran, January 10 (Xinhua) — The Iranian military vowed on Saturday to defend national interests, protect strategic infrastructure, and public property amid ongoing protests, and called on Iranians to unite to "thwart the enemy's plans," Iran's state broadcaster IRIB reported.

JAKARTA, January 10 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Talaud Islands on Saturday, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported.

According to the agency, the earthquake occurred at 21:58 local time, its epicenter was located 52 km southeast of the administrative center of the Talaud archipelago, Melonguane in North Sulawesi province, and the hypocenter was at a depth of 17 km.

Tbilisi, January 10 /Xinhua/ — The Panama-flagged tanker "CAMINERO" was detained in Georgian territorial waters for violating navigation regulations, the Georgian Interior Ministry's border police reported on Saturday.

Dar es Salaam, January 10 (Xinhua) — China and Tanzania are friends with a shared destiny, and the friendship nurtured and fostered by elder leaders remains the two countries' most precious spiritual asset, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the statement during a meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Aden, Yemen, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) — Yemen's Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Saturday dismissed reports of its dissolution as "fabricated and legally null," saying the claims were made under duress and without any legal authority.

According to a statement posted on social media platform X, the STC said its National Assembly, Advisory Council and General Secretariat held an emergency meeting in the southern port city of Aden, during which Saudi Arabia was accused of detaining the STC negotiating delegation in Riyadh and forcing it to issue a dissolution statement under duress.

The Council stated that the proposed dissolution came from an unauthorised party under duress and therefore had no legal or political force.

The STC said it remains "fully legitimate and operational," stressing that the body's mandate has come from the people of South Yemen since its establishment in 2017.

Calling for the immediate and unconditional release of its detained members, the council called on the UN and international partners to “respect the will of the people of South Yemen” and reject any political process that marginalizes their representatives.

The denial followed reports in Yemeni state media on January 9 that the STC delegation in Riyadh had announced the council's dissolution and the closure of all its offices within Yemen and abroad. On January 8, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen also announced that STC leader Aidarus al-Zubaidi had secretly left Yemen after failing to attend peace talks in Riyadh.
