Baghdad, December 1 (Xinhua) — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met Sunday with US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack to discuss regional stability and efforts to prevent further escalation.

Minsk, November 30 (Xinhua) — Belarus is ready for dialogue with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member states to ensure security in Eastern Europe. Valery Revenko, Head of the Department of International Military Cooperation and Assistant to the Minister of Defense of Belarus on International Military Cooperation, stated this on Sunday on the Belarusian television channel VoenTV.

According to him, Belarus's relations with Western countries and NATO member countries are developing in a very problematic manner.

JAKARTA, November 30 (Xinhua) — The death toll from recent floods and landslides in three provinces on Indonesia's Sumatra island has risen to 442, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported on Sunday.

As BNPB Chief Suharyanto stated at a briefing, the highest death toll has been recorded in North Sumatra province. "The death toll in North Sumatra has reached 217, with another 209 people still missing," he said, adding that "numerous new victims were discovered during today's operation in South Tapanuli Regency."

New Delhi, November 30 (Xinhua) — At least 10 people were killed and more than 20 injured on Sunday in a head-on collision between two government buses in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, police said.

The accident occurred on the main Tirupattur-Karaikudi road in Sivaganga district, about 423 km southwest of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu state.

“One of the buses was going from Tiruppur to Karaikudi and the other was going from Karaikudi to Dindigul district,” a police official said.

Following the incident, local authorities launched a large-scale rescue operation and transported the victims to nearby hospitals.
