BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — The first 62-car stretch freight train departed Monday from the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone (CBZ) in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to Elektrougli, Russia, as part of the China-Europe international railway freight transport project, marking the entry of the Hohhot-Russia logistics corridor into a new phase of "capacity expansion and efficiency improvement."

This expanded freight train exceeded the standard 55-car configuration previously adopted for China-Russia and China-Europe trains, according to a report published on the Zhongguo Xinwenshe news agency website. The train will cross the border at the Ereenhot checkpoint, travel through Mongolia, and ultimately arrive in Elektrougli.

Damascus, December 2 (Xinhua) — Israeli forces on Monday launched a new ground incursion into the countryside of Syria's Quneitra province amid heightened military activity near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Syrian state media.
