Changchun, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — Chinese auto giant FAW Group on Tuesday reported sales of more than 420,000 vehicles of its iconic Hongqi brand in the first 11 months of 2025, up 9.2 percent year-on-year.

In November alone, Hongqi's sales volume exceeded 40,000 units, maintaining a steady growth trend. Meanwhile, the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment of the same brand recorded a 60.8 percent year-on-year increase, while sales of Hongqi's luxury sub-brand, Golden Sunflower, once again exceeded 100 units in the month.

Kunming, December 2 (Xinhua) — The China-Laos Railway has carried over 62.5 million passenger and 72.5 million tonnes of freight in the four years since its launch, providing a powerful impetus to the region's economic and social development, the state-owned China Railway Corporation (CRC) announced on Tuesday.

BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — China has seen a sharp increase in the number of small giant enterprises in recent years, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

According to the agency, during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), the number of “small giants” – small and medium-sized enterprises with a high degree of specialization and technological leadership in their field, great innovative potential and a clear competitive advantage in the market – increased from just over 5,000 to 17,600. In 2024 alone, each of these companies, distinguished by an increased focus on innovation, invested an average of more than 30 million yuan (approximately 4.24 million US dollars) in R&D.

These firms, often considered niche market leaders and specialist suppliers, play a vital role in ensuring greater resilience and competitiveness in supply chains.

More than 60 percent of these "small giants" operate in basic industries, and nearly 80 percent operate in key production chains. HANGZHOU, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — The annual container throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province exceeded 40 million TEUs for the first time on Tuesday.

According to the Zhejiang Seaport Group, the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan has ranked first in the world in annual cargo throughput for 16 consecutive years. Despite its relatively late entry into container shipping, its volume is growing rapidly.

Tegucigalpa, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — Honduras' National Electoral Council said Monday that the presidential vote remains virtually tied, following preliminary vote counts conducted peacefully a day after the country's general elections.

Now this immersive experience is one step closer to reality thanks to new display technology developed by Chinese researchers.

URUMQI, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — The Kashgar section of the free trade zone (FTZ) in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently completed its first export leasing transaction through a bonded zone with special tax and customs status.

This deal was a key step for the Kashgar section of the FTZ in expanding the range of bonded services and enhancing trade convenience and liberalization, the FTZ administration noted.

As it turns out, the lessee was a Kyrgyz company. The 18-month lease included a batch of printers provided by a Kashgar-based company. They have already been delivered to Bishkek and safely handed over to the lessee. The entire transaction was deemed orderly and efficient.

Jiang Haitao, Deputy Director of the Kashgar Prefectural Commerce Department, noted that the bonded zone export leasing scheme not only opened an acceptable path for exploring new “bonded services plus” business models in the Xinjiang FTZ, but also offered businesses in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries more flexible options for using the necessary equipment.
