JAKARTA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), expressed China's willingness to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Indonesia during his official visit to Indonesia from Wednesday to Thursday at the invitation of Ahmad Muzani, Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Congress (CPC).

Wang Huning held separate meetings in Jakarta with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (lower house of parliament) Puan Maharani and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Regions (upper house of parliament) Sultan Bakhtiar Najamudin, and also held talks with Ahmad Muzani.

During his meeting with Prabowo Subianto, Wang Huning indicated that China is willing to work with Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and jointly pursue a modernization path suited to each country's national conditions, making greater contributions to world peace, stability and prosperity.

According to the Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, China firmly supports the Indonesian government in maintaining political and social stability and achieving greater progress in development. He expressed confidence that Indonesia will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and support the just cause of the Chinese people, who oppose separatists advocating "Taiwan independence" and strive for national reunification.

Prabowo Subianto, for his part, noted that Indonesia sincerely admires China's outstanding achievements in development and hopes to learn from China's successful experience in order to confidently follow the path of independent development that suits its national conditions.

Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to the one-China principle and that Taiwan is part of China, and stressed that Indonesia is confident in the prospects of bilateral relations with China and is willing to strengthen the momentum of their positive development, promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.

During talks with Ahmad Muzani, Wang Huning noted that China-Indonesia relations have made significant progress in the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He assured that China will steadily promote high-quality development, expand high-level opening-up, and provide new opportunities to friendly countries like Indonesia through continued achievements of Chinese-style modernization.

The CPPCC National Committee hopes to deepen exchanges and mutual learning with the Indonesian People's Commissariat of China to better serve the modernization of each country and the construction of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, Wang Huning emphasized.

Ahmad Muzani highly praised the results of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, adding that the Indonesian People's Congress is willing to strengthen exchanges with the CPPCC National Committee, implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, and promote the further development of Indonesia-China relations.

During his meetings with Puan Maharani and Sultan Bakhtiar Najamudin, Wang Huning said China is willing to work with Indonesia to further advance the friendship, mutual trust and strategic cooperation between the two countries to a higher level, so as to bring greater benefits to their peoples.

Puan Maharani and Sultan Bakhtiar Najamudin, in turn, noted that the friendship between the two countries has deep historical roots and that China is an important strategic partner for Indonesia. They stated that bilateral relations have achieved significant progress in recent years and have brought tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.

They stressed that Indonesia highly values and actively supports the Belt and Road Initiative, adding that the People's Congress and the Regional Representative Council are willing to continue to play an active role in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between Indonesia and China.

During his visit, Wang Huning also briefed the Indonesian side on the results of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. He stated that China is willing to advance the deep alignment of Chinese-style modernization with the "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision and promote the further development of practical cooperation between the two countries.

The Indonesian side congratulated China on the successful holding of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and expressed its desire to work with the Chinese side to advance bilateral relations to new heights. –0–

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on Thursday withdrew an earlier earthquake warning near Dayton in the U.S. state of Nevada, saying the notice was sent in error.

The USGS previously said a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Thursday at 16:06 GMT, 6 kilometers east of Dayton, adding that the epicenter was initially measured at 39.24 degrees north latitude and 119.52 degrees west longitude, with the hypocenter at a depth of 8 kilometers.

However, in a subsequent statement, the USGS said the warning was "incorrect."

"The ShakeAlert earthquake warning system issued an erroneous warning of a magnitude 5.9 earthquake in the Reno and Carson City area of Nevada," the service said on its website.

“The event did not occur and information about it has been removed from USGS websites and data feeds,” the service said.

The USGS added that it is working to determine the cause of the erroneous warning. –0–

Johannesburg, December 4 (Xinhua) — South Africa announced on Thursday that it would temporarily withdraw from the Group of Twenty (G20). Earlier, the United States, which assumed the G20 presidency, confirmed that it would not invite South Africa to participate in the G20 during its presidency.

"We will 'take a break' until we resume normal operations," Vincent Magwenya, spokesman for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, wrote on social media.

"Around this time next year, the UK will assume the G20 Presidency. This will allow us to engage meaningfully and substantively on issues that truly matter to the rest of the world," he noted.

The announcement came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that Washington "will not extend an invitation to the South African government to participate in G20 events" during the US presidency.

Relations between South Africa and the United States reached a low point this year after US President Donald Trump repeatedly accused South Africa of so-called "white genocide." These accusations were vigorously denied by South African authorities.

Yerevan, December 4 /Xinhua/ — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a loan agreement for Armenia worth approximately $175 million, the Central Bank of Armenia (CB) reported.

The regulator's statement noted that the IMF approved a new 36-month loan to the country under the Stand-By Arrangement for approximately $175 million. These funds will be used to ensure the continuity of reforms and macroeconomic stability, as well as to hedge against external risks.

The IMF report particularly notes the role of the Central Bank of Armenia's new monetary policy in reducing inflation to the target level of 3 percent.

According to the report, Armenia's banking system is assessed as well-capitalized, liquid, and generally resilient, although rising credit risks require regulatory vigilance. Strengthening the supervisory system, expanding macroprudential tools, and regulating stablecoins remain priorities in maintaining financial stability, while broader structural reforms promote sustainable and inclusive growth, the report adds.

BEIJING, December 4 (Xinhua) — China's electronic information technology (EITC) industry showed robust growth in the first 10 months of 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said.

According to the agency, during the reporting period, the added value of industrial production at large enterprises in the sector increased by 10.6 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, the combined revenue of the above-mentioned companies grew by 8.3 percent to 14 trillion yuan (about 1.98 trillion US dollars), and combined profit increased by 12.8 percent to 570 billion yuan.

Large companies in China's electronic information industry are defined as those with annual revenues of 20 million yuan or more.

From January to October, China produced 1.02 billion smartphones, a 0.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Integrated circuit production reached 386.6 billion units, a 10.2 percent increase year-on-year.

This steady recovery comes amid China's ongoing efforts to strengthen the industry. In September, Chinese authorities unveiled a plan to stabilize growth in the electronic information industry from 2025 to 2026, setting a target for average annual growth in the added value of computer, communications, and other electronic equipment production at around 7 percent.

Moscow, December 4 /Xinhua/ — Over the past 20 years, China has made significant progress in environmental protection and building an ecological civilization. This is the subject of an article by Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui, published by the Russian newspaper Argumenty i Fakty.

"This year marks the 20th anniversary of Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposal of 'green mountains and emerald waters are treasures,'" the article states. According to Zhang Hanhui, over the past two decades, "China, by combining political planning with systemic measures, has facilitated historic, pivotal, and global changes in ecological and environmental protection, achieved globally recognized success in building an ecological civilization, and successfully blazed a trail of Chinese modernization characterized by the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, fully demonstrating the significant advantages and effectiveness of the 'Chinese governance model.'"

The diplomat recalls that China has become the country with the fastest improvement in air quality in the world. "Blue skies over Beijing" have transformed from a dream into a reality. Furthermore, the fight for clean water has "made steady progress, and the phenomenon of black, stagnant water in urban areas has been largely eliminated." Systematic measures are being taken to improve the environmental conditions of the Yangtze, Yellow River, and other rivers.

As noted in the article, China has managed to curb the trend of accelerated soil degradation using a space-air-ground monitoring system based on seven satellites and 38,880 ground monitoring points. The area of restored land has reached 8 million hectares. China accounts for about a quarter of the global increase in green space.

"In the face of the global challenges of climate change, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss, China stands ready to work with Russia to implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state, continue to deepen solidarity and cooperation, implement genuine multilateralism, and promote the formation of a fair and rational global environmental governance system based on cooperation and mutual benefit, so as to make new and greater contributions to the joint construction of a community with a shared future for mankind and the creation of a clean and beautiful world," concludes Chinese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui.
