Washington, December 12 (Xinhua) — The United States intends to retain the oil from the tanker that U.S. forces seized Wednesday off the coast of oil-rich Venezuela, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said Thursday.

UN, December 12 (Xinhua) — China's long-standing approach to targeted poverty reduction offers lessons for many countries around the world, Pradeep Kurukulasuriya, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), said in an interview with Xinhua.

BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) — The first passengers and vehicles successfully crossed the China-Russia border river Heilongjiang (Amur) on Thursday on the new seasonal floating bridge Tongjiang-Nizhneleninskoye, marking the official launch of the ice-strengthening pontoon bridge for freight and passenger traffic for the 2025/2026 winter season.

According to local media, the floating bridge, which has been inspected by both China and Russia, consists of 23 pontoons with a total length of approximately 650 meters. Crossing it in one direction takes at least five minutes.
