Yerevan, December 15 /Xinhua/ — A presentation of a series of books featuring works by Chinese writers translated into Armenian this year took place on Monday at the Yerevan bookstore of the Arevik Publishing House, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports reported.

In 2025, the Arevik Publishing House, with the support of the Ministry, published Armenian translations of the story “The Tree King” /A Cheng/, the play “The Storm” /Cao Yu/, the novel “To Live” /Yu Hua/, the novel “The Tale of the Hulan River” /Xiao Hong/, as well as the collection of essays “I and the Temple of the Earth” /Shi Tesheng/.

Daniel Danielyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, who attended the event, noted the importance of consistent work on the mutual translation and publication of classic works by writers from the two countries. This work is being implemented within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Mutual Translation and Publication of Classical Works signed on November 25, 2021, in Beijing between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the State Press and Publication Administration of the People's Republic of China.

According to D. Danielyan, the publication of selected works will allow readers to become acquainted with the history, art, education, literature, and philosophy of Armenia and China—some of the world's oldest and richest civilizations. The Deputy Minister also noted that engaging young professionals in translation work will facilitate the further development of this program.

Within the framework of the program, the novels “Wounds of Armenia” /Khachatur Abovyan/, “Gevorg Marzpetuni” /Muratsan/, the historical monumental work “History of Armenia” /Movses Khorenatsi/, the collection “Tales” /Hovhannes Tumanyan/ and “Stories” /Grigor Zohrab/ were translated into Chinese over the past year.

La Paz, December 15 (Xinhua) — At least 20 people have died and more than 20 are missing after heavy rains and flooding battered villages in Bolivia's Santa Cruz department, the government announced Monday.

Bolivia's Deputy Minister of Civil Defense, Alfredo Troche, reported seven deaths as of December 14. The bodies of the remaining victims were recovered after rescue operations expanded and floodwaters receded.

Moscow, December 15 /Xinhua/ — Russia's North Caucasus republics are committed to deepening cooperation with China in various fields, and Russia's recent introduction of a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens opens new opportunities for expanding tourism exchanges and exploring this unique region. Moscow, December 15 (Xinhua) — Russia's first large-scale lithium-ion battery factory with a full production cycle has launched pilot production in the Kaliningrad region. The press service of the Russian state corporation Rosatom announced this on Monday.

The total capacity of devices produced annually at the new production site is 4 GWh. This is equivalent to approximately 1.5 million charging modules or 50,000 traction batteries for electric vehicles.

CHONGQING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) — China and Singapore agreed on Monday to deepen cooperation in various fields, jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system, and promote regional prosperity and stability.

These agreements were reached during four meetings within the framework of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, which were held in the central city of Chongqing (southwest China) under the joint chairmanship of Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang and Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Gan Kim Yong.

The four meetings included the 21st meeting of the China-Singapore Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation, the 26th meeting of the China-Singapore Joint Coordination Council for Suzhou Industrial Park, the 17th meeting of the China-Singapore Joint Coordination Council for Tianjin Eco-City, and the 9th meeting of the China-Singapore Joint Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Chongqing Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project.
