An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Reconstruction of School No. 1619 named after M.I. Tsvetaeva continues in the Strogino district. The Mayor of Moscow inspected the construction progress and congratulated the school's teachers and all female educators in Moscow on the upcoming International Women's Day (March 8).

"Schools like these weren't built 45 years ago. A new school, a new gym, practically new classrooms, laboratories, public spaces, and landscaping. The school will be like new. Maybe even better than the schools built recently. So it won't be long now," Sergei Sobyanin noted.

In addition to School No. 1619 named after M.I. Tsvetaeva on Tallinskaya Street, three more schools are being reconstructed in Strogino on Kulakov Street: School No. 705 (Building 25, Block 2), School No. 86 named after M.E. Katukov (Building 17, Block 2), and School No. 69 named after B.Sh. Okudzhava (Building 3, Block 1). A significant portion of the educational infrastructure in the Strogino district will be updated by the new academic year.

School No. 1619 named after M.I. Tsvetaeva for 750 students on Tallinskaya Street (Building 12, Block 4) was built in 1981. The total area of the building is approximately nine thousand square meters (three floors and a basement).

A full renovation of the school building began in May 2025. During the renovation, the façade and roof will be updated, all utility lines, door and window frames will be replaced, partitions will be installed, floor screeding will be done, and interior finishing will be completed. The premises will be equipped with modern equipment and furniture. The surrounding area will be landscaped.

The focus is on creating a modern educational environment for children and teachers. In accordance with the "My School" program, the renovated building will feature universal and specialized classrooms, study spaces with sliding, transformable partitions for large and small group classes, a modern media library with spaces for group and individual work, a laboratory and research complex for natural sciences, a multifunctional, multi-level space for events, lectures, and exhibitions, a sports hall, a gymnasium, and a cozy dining hall.

The interior color scheme will be muted, with accents in the form of acoustic panels, bright furniture, and design elements.

The school grounds will include gymnastics and volleyball courts, a running track, a football field, a long jump court, playgrounds for different age groups, and bicycle and scooter parking spaces.

"We will open the renovated building of School No. 1619 on Tallinskaya Street on September 1st," the Mayor of Moscow wrote on his MAX messenger channel. "After the renovation, the 750 students at School No. 1619 will receive education in modern and comfortable conditions, which will undoubtedly improve the quality of education."

As before the reconstruction, students from first to 11th grade will study here.

Students will continue their in-depth study of individual subjects: mathematics, social studies, biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as training within the city-based projects "Mathematical Vertical," "Entrepreneurship Class in a Moscow School," "Medical Class in a Moscow School," and "Cadet Class in a Moscow School."

More opportunities will also be available for students to pursue additional education in various fields. They will be able to attend sports clubs in football, basketball, volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, and table tennis, as well as vocal and English classes.

"And in general, it's not just your school; hundreds of schools in Moscow require renovation, so this year we'll have about a hundred schools undergoing renovation. In Strogino, there are three more schools, besides yours. But we have ambitious plans to build a new school for your educational complex. You still have space for a school. It's in pretty good condition, but it's already outdated. We'll build a beautiful new school. Those are the plans for now. I hope they come true," Sergei Sobyanin added at a meeting with teachers.

In 2023–2025, 55 school buildings were completely reconstructed under the My School program.

In 2025, work began on renovating several dozen school buildings, with completion scheduled for 2026.

School No. 1619 named after M.I. Tsvetaeva

School No. 1619 named after M.I. Tsvetaeva consists of seven buildings (three school buildings and four preschool buildings) on Stroginsky Boulevard, Tallinskaya, Tvardovsky, and Marshal Katukov Streets.

The school has 2,716 students, including 1,881 schoolchildren and 835 preschoolers. The school employs 257 people, including 93 teachers, 52 caregivers, and 46 other teaching staff.

In grades 10-11, the humanities, technological, socio-economic, and natural science profiles of study are implemented.

To prepare students for an informed career choice, the school actively collaborates with leading universities. These include the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, the National University of Science and Technology MISIS, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University, the Moscow Aviation Institute, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, the Nakhimov Black Sea Higher Naval School, and the Russian University of Transport (MIIT).

The supplementary education system offers programs in various fields: social sciences and humanities, technical education, arts, tourism and local history, natural sciences, and physical education and sports. In the 2025/2026 academic year, 99 percent of students enrolled in supplementary education.

Last academic year, 135 eleventh-graders graduated from the school. Of these, eight were awarded the federal medal "For Exceptional Academic Achievement" and three were awarded the Moscow medal "For Exceptional Academic Achievement." On the Unified State Exam (USA), 15 graduates (11 percent) scored over 220 points in three subjects, including four who scored over 250 points. One graduate scored 100 points in chemistry.

Additionally, in the 2024/2025 academic year, 44 students received diplomas as winners and runners-up of the municipal stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad. Ten students won and runners-up of the regional stage, while 15 students took top places and became winners of the Moscow School Olympiad.

The school's creative teams participate in various city festivals, including "Relay of the Arts," "Theatrical Olympus," "To You, Capital, Our Young Talents," "New Heights," "The Wonderful City of Moscow," "Me Plus My Friends," "We Are Together," and "Time of Miracles."

The school choir "Sea Soul" is a winner and laureate of all-Russian and city competitions.

Students at the school are taking part in the GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) standards: in the 2024/2025 academic year, 61 students received gold, silver, and bronze badges.

Particular attention is paid to patriotic education. The school created the "Sevastopolets" youth army detachment, which became the best detachment in the local branch of the Northwestern Administrative District of Moscow, and its members received 19 vouchers to the "Patriot" camp.

The school also has an active volunteer program, including the "Do Good" volunteer group, assistance to homeless animals, environmental campaigns, and participation in the "Volunteer Counselor" project.

The "My District" project. Strogino

Strogino is a leafy district in northwest Moscow, home to over 163,000 people. Its attractions include the Strogino floodplain with its popular waterfront recreation areas, the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Moscow Park, the Strogino Cultural Center, and the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in the Troitse-Lykovo Estate.

In recent years, much has been done in Strogino to improve the quality of life for local residents. Most of the activities were implemented as part of the "My District" program, developed at the initiative of Sergei Sobyanin.

"In recent years, much has changed for the better here. The area has become cozier and more comfortable. New schools, modern clinics, additional ground transportation routes have appeared, and the parks, streets, and courtyards have been transformed," Sergei Sobyanin noted on his channel.

The district's social infrastructure has been expanded with the addition of a new main building for Polyclinic No. 115 with a trauma center at 10 Tvardovsky Street, Building 5.

During the renovation of the outpatient department, a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out of Branch No. 3 (Isakovsky Street, Building 16, Building 2) of the same clinic, as well as the main building (Tvardovsky Street, Building 5, Building 4) and Branch No. 1 (Kulakova Street, Building 13) of Children's Clinic No. 58. The areas around the buildings were landscaped.

In addition, an educational building for 400 students was built in Strogino on Isakovsky Street (building 29, building 1a) and a school for 550 students on Tvardovsky Street (building 12a).

Thanks to renovations under the "My School" program, a modern educational space has been created in the building of School No. 705 (14 Stroginsky Boulevard, Building 5). Similar work is underway in another building of this school on Kulakova Street (25 Kulakova Street, Building 2), as well as at School No. 1619 named after M.I. Tsvetaeva on Tallinskaya Street (12 Tallinskaya Street, Building 4), School No. 69 on Kulakova Street (3 Kulakova Street, Building 1), and School No. 86 named after M.E. Katukov on Kulakova Street (17 Kulakova Street, Building 2).

A major event in the district's life was the opening of the new Strogino Cultural Center in 2021, equipped with modern lighting, sound, projection, and stage equipment. This multifunctional venue hosts performances, concerts, circus shows, film screenings, exhibitions, forums, master classes, and creative studios for children and adults.

The Sovremennik Club was put in order on Isakovsky Street (building 6, building 1), on Nemansky Proezd (building 5, building 2), on Stroginsky Boulevard (building 12), and on Marshal Katukov Street (building 9, building 3 and building 15, building 2).

Senior citizens spend their time with interest and benefit at the Moscow Longevity District Center on Isakovsky Street (Building 39).

As part of the construction of non-permanent sports facilities, a football arena with the possibility of practicing beach sports will be located on Marshal Katukov Street (building 26).

The interregional fair on Tallinn Street is also in demand.

The neighborhood has become even more comfortable and welcoming. Improvements have been completed to the Birch Grove, as well as part of the Moskvoretsky Natural and Historical Park, stretching from the Moscow Ring Road to the Stroginsky Bridge and the Bolshoy Stroginsky Zaton embankment. The area near the Yantar Stadium, as well as Tvardovsky, Kulakov, Marshal Katukov, Nemansky Proezd, and other streets, have been improved. Additionally, 79 courtyards in the neighborhood have been transformed.

This year, there are plans to improve 1st Lykovskaya Street and the driveway along the building of Fire and Rescue Squad No. 204 on Marshal Zhukov Avenue.

Four new ground transportation routes have appeared in the area, and more than 80 modern bus stops have been installed.

Modern low-floor Russian-made trams "Vityaz-Moscow" and "Lvenok-Moscow" have entered service on routes No. 10, 15, 21 and 30.

A charging station for electric vehicles has been installed at 19 Tallinskaya Street, Building 1, as part of the "Moscow Energy" project. Five bicycle parking areas have been set up for cyclists.

Construction is underway on the new Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya metro line, building a station called Strogino, which will serve as a transfer point to the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line. The opening of this station will reduce travel times to the Big Circle Line, the Moscow Central Circle, and the Moscow International Business Center "Moscow City" by 50%. At the same time, the existing Strogino station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line will be relieved by 20 percent.

Experience, friendship, adaptation: the student association "Tutor Force" turns 10 years old

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

Source: Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

For several years, the student activist team "Tutor Force" has been successfully and diligently assisting international students, immersing them in the Russian environment and facilitating their adaptation. In 2026, the group will celebrate its 10th anniversary. To celebrate this anniversary, a new inter-university project has been launched: "10th Anniversary of the Tutor Faculty."

The project focuses on mentoring and tutoring international students. It's a comprehensive initiative with multi-level activities and stages that will be implemented during the spring semester with the support of the Department of Youth Policy and the Graduate School of International Educational Programs (HSIEEP).

Project objectives:

Developing a mentoring system; creating a sustainable system for transferring experience and knowledge; enhancing the skills of activists necessary for working with foreign contingents; and ensuring long-term and stable adaptation work.

At the beginning of the new semester, the team announced the launch of the "Tutor School." During the recruitment process, international students from the Preparatory Faculty of the Higher School of International Education, the Humanities Institute (HI), and the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics, and Trade (IPMEIT) were briefed on the opportunities offered by the association.

The candidates completed interviews and attended introductory lectures, where they were able to get to know the team better and gain a practical understanding of how the group works. The final stage will involve developing and defending a team project.

As part of the "Tutor School," activists were assigned to academic groups of international students. Throughout February, introductory and organizational meetings were held between international students and their tutors, where they met and interacted with each other to establish a strong relationship throughout the semester. Each academic group will be offered informal meetings, excursions to the Polytechnic Museum, where they will learn about the university's history and traditions, and career-oriented campus tours to help them successfully build their future careers.

During the first stage, to boost motivation, support team spirit, and give association members the opportunity to develop, a joint training session was organized with the Youth Policy Department. Participants included Maxim Pasholikov, Vice Rector for Information, Youth Policy, and Security; Ivan Khlamov, Head of the Youth Policy Department; Pavel Nedelko, Assistant Vice Rector for International Affairs; Andrey Dolgirev, Director of the Center for Youth Trajectories; and Vladimir Migunov, Administrator of the Center for Youth Trajectories.

Everyone was delighted to see the leadership among their friends, get to know each other better, and simply have a pleasant and engaging evening. Participants discussed the community's development trajectories, the team's growth areas, shared the association's proudest moments, and reminisced about its major achievements over the past ten years.

"The strategic sessions format for working with communities was recently introduced, but it's already bearing fruit," emphasized Maxim Pasholikov. "This helps the students view their activities from the perspective of the community's leadership, as well as the university's perspective. Based on the sessions' results, it's important to establish the community's development vector and ambitions for the near future. The university creates an environment for the students' development and doesn't manage the communities; rather, it creates mechanisms for fostering mutually beneficial partnerships."

"For the tutor community, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, it's crucial to align ourselves, building on our many years of experience, and identify new challenges and goals," noted Ivan Khlamov. "I'd like to point out that the community includes new members who have recently joined and offer ideas for development, as well as those who have already gone some distance and understand the importance of establishing a mission for sustainability in the future. The session's results showed a very strong engagement from the members—this means the community has a bright future."

"The strategy session for Tutor Force marks a new level," says Pavel Nedelko. "The session was attended by key university youth policy leaders, with whom the tutors were able to discuss their concerns in an open dialogue. The tutors were promised support, which should undoubtedly boost the students' ambitions."

"It's great that the student association leaders are open to us, and we have the opportunity to see how active our students are," shared Andrey Dolgirev. "The students care about how Polytechnic University is developing, and they do a lot to make us a better university. It's great that we can work on great projects together, offering advice, and sometimes adopting best practices from students. Yes, we have a lot to learn from them too! That's what meetings like these are for."

"I'm delighted by the genuine interest and commitment to growth not only among new and existing members of the association, but also among the university department heads, who not only provide us with key methodological support throughout the year but also actively participate in the community's life in a friendly manner. This inspires the activists themselves and helps us gain an outside perspective on our successes and shortcomings," added Gupta Vedant, a student from India and president of the Tutor Force association. "A strategy session can be considered successful if its participants draw at least one conclusion to reflect on, and if they know what to strive for. Reflection, along with team discussion, is essential—this is the key to success."

In February, tutors also held several events: a Russian conversation club, a Chinese New Year celebration, and Maslenitsa.

A whole semester lies ahead, during which activists will attend training sessions, participate in an inter-university conference, and travel to Kholomki.

Dobrofest is back in earnest and for the long haul!" emphasizes festival director Sergey Silushin.

Who will perform at Dobrofest?

The main question the organizers are already prepared to answer, although the lineup will be significantly expanded: iconic bands will headline the two days. The first six acts have been announced. The legendary band Alisa, led by longtime frontman Konstantin Kinchev, will perform their signature compositions. Slot, one of Russia's leading alternative bands, playing at the intersection of hard rock, nu metal, and rapcore, will present a renewed lineup and plans to both surprise longtime fans and win new ones. The band Pilot from St. Petersburg, founded by musician Ilya Knabengof, is also preparing to perform.

"I'm delighted to announce that the Leningrad vocal and instrumental ensemble 'Pilot' will perform this summer on the stage of one of our country's most beloved festivals, 'Dobrofest.' The capital guarantees full fulfillment of its social obligations to residents. The Presidium of the Moscow Government has adopted a decision whose implementation will optimize budget expenditures in favor of priority areas.

Specifically, the city plans to maintain Moscow's high standards of service delivery. Furthermore, work will continue to implement the city's strategic development program, ensure unconditional fulfillment of social obligations, and fund support for joint activities with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

At the same time, the number of employees at institutions providing social services to citizens will not be affected, and key activities such as renovation, metro construction, and others will be carried out as planned.

Sobyanin: Moscow will optimize spending while maintaining all social obligations

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

Source: Moscow Government – Moscow Government –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The Presidium of the Moscow Government reviewed issues related to the execution of the city budget in January and February of this year.

Based on the results of two months, revenue growth amounted to two percent, which is lower than the 6.5 percent planned when forming the budget for this year.

In the face of slowing budget revenue growth, the Moscow Government sees its task as continuing to implement the city's strategic development program, ensuring the unconditional fulfillment of social obligations, and funding support for joint activities with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

These objectives must be addressed within the framework of a balanced budget. To this end, a decision has been made to reduce the number of civil servants in Moscow's executive authorities by 15 percent by June 1, 2026, as well as employees of certain subordinate institutions performing administrative functions. However, the number of employees in institutions providing social services to citizens will not be affected.

Another measure is a 10 percent optimization of this year's planned investment program spending. Specifically, certain urban improvement projects and cultural events will be reduced or postponed. However, key projects, such as renovations, metro construction, and others, will be completed as planned.

The implementation of these decisions will optimize Moscow's budget expenditures and ensure the full fulfillment of social obligations to city residents, the maintenance of Moscow's high standards of service delivery, the implementation of strategic city development measures, and the funding of expenses aimed at assisting the Russian Ministry of Defense and supporting military personnel and their families.

Narspi

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

At Nikita Mikhalkov's Workshop "12" Theatre, actors from the K.V. Ivanov Chuvash Academic Drama Theatre will present the play "Narspi," based on the poem by Konstantin Ivanov.

This is a tragic story of love clashing with the harsh laws of patriarchal society. The young and beautiful Narspi, the daughter of wealthy parents, is married not to her lover, the poor Setner, but to the old and cruel rich man Takhtaman. This marriage of convenience, dictated by greed and social conventions, proves fatal for all the characters, inexorably leading to a tragic end.

The fates of Narspi and Setner, the old man Takhtaman, and other characters carry a profound symbolic meaning that goes beyond a single personal drama. Through their stories, the play explores the eternal problems of the human soul: the struggle for freedom and dignity, the conflict between emotion and duty, and the injustice of the established order. This powerful and poignant work still provokes reflection on the value of genuine feelings in a world where they are so often neglected.

Duration: two hours 20 minutes with intermission.
