Moscow City Tourism Committee conducted an analytical study and determined the tourist profile of 13 economically active regions of Russia, from which the largest number of guests come to the capital. The leaders are St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, Rostov and Nizhny Novgorod Regions, and the Republic of Tatarstan. Travelers visit the capital for cultural, educational and business purposes, and their average expenses for a trip to the metropolis vary from 34 to 46 thousand rubles.

Research of tourist flow

The results of the study are also available on the portal. "Russpass. Business". Representatives of the tourism industry will be able to use this data to create relevant and in-demand products and targeted work with the target audience.

The study also analyzed the structure of the tourist flow by age. Russians aged 20 to 24 make up nine percent of the total tourist flow from the most active regions, aged 25 to 34 — 21 percent, aged 35 to 44 — 27 percent, aged 45 to 54 — 23 percent, aged 55 and older — 20 percent. A trip to Moscow for guests from the listed regions takes five to six days. Tourists spend most on the gastronomic segment (23 percent of the total travel budget), shopping, souvenirs (21 percent), and travel to Moscow (16 percent).

Portrait of a tourist from St. Petersburg

Tourists from St. Petersburg make many trips to Moscow, and gastronomy is their priority. In 2024, the tourist flow from this region amounted to 1.6 million people, with an average growth rate of five percent per year.

St. Petersburg ranks first in terms of the number of visits to the capital's cafes and restaurants by its residents. Another distinctive feature of the region is that every seventh trip from it to Moscow is made spontaneously – day after day. This is facilitated by convenient and developed transport links and the ability to quickly plan leisure with the help of tourist services. Two out of three tourists book accommodation without using aggregators.

The average length of stay of guests from this region in Moscow is five days. In St. Petersburg, the most active travelers are young people aged 20 to 24, who make up the largest share in the overall structure of tourist flow compared to other regions studied.

Every fifth tourist comes to Moscow for business purposes, and 17 percent for cultural and educational purposes. 55 percent travel to the capital alone, 14 percent in pairs, 12 percent with colleagues, and 9–10 percent with friends or family.

Hotels with the categories of "three stars", "four stars" and "five stars" are preferred by 24 percent of guests, another nine percent rent apartments. Like residents of St. Petersburg, 24 percent of Krasnodar residents stay in hotels with the categories “three stars”, “four stars” and “five stars”, four percent prefer to book apartments.

Their average trip bill is the highest of the top five regions in the rating and amounts to 46 thousand rubles. Guests spend 24 percent of their travel budget on the gastronomy segment and shopping, 12 percent on cultural and educational leisure and travel to Moscow. The bill in cafes and restaurants for Krasnodar residents is 1.2 times higher than the average for all regions of the country.

Portrait of a tourist from Rostov region

In 2024, 783 thousand guests came to Moscow from the Rostov Region. The growth rate of tourist flow is four percent per year. And the average trip duration is five days. 70 percent of travelers plan it themselves, and 27 percent of trips are organized by employers – this is the highest figure among the five regions presented.

Business trips are indeed among the top goals of Rostov residents when visiting Moscow. Such trips are made by 29 percent of guests. Another 17 percent come for cultural and educational purposes. Half of the tourists visit Moscow alone, 23 percent – as a couple, and 14 percent – with colleagues. Almost a third prefer hotels with the category "three stars", "four stars" or "five stars", and only two percent – apartments.

The average bill for a trip is 41 thousand rubles, of which 28 percent goes to the gastronomic segment, 24 percent to shopping, 13 percent to cultural leisure and entertainment. Every 10th guest, arriving in the capital, goes on excursions.

Portrait of a tourist from the Nizhny Novgorod region

In 2024, 730 thousand guests from the Nizhny Novgorod region came to Moscow. The annual tourist flow grows by an average of two percent. Two out of three Nizhny Novgorod residents who visit the capital come back to it again during the year. And every sixth tourist takes excursions from professional guides.

The average trip duration is five days. 44 percent of guests come to Moscow to meet friends, 19–20 percent for business and cultural and educational purposes. 55 percent travel alone, 11 percent with colleagues or friends, and another 16 percent in pairs.

The spending priorities are gastronomy (26 percent), shopping (21 percent), culture and entertainment (12 percent). Every fifth stays in a hotel with a three-star, four-star or five-star category, six percent of travelers book apartments.

The largest amount of spending during a trip is spent on the gastronomic segment (25 percent), shopping (21 percent), and cultural and entertainment recreation (14 percent).

A distinctive feature of tourists from the Republic of Tatarstan is that every 10th traveler uses sports, health or beauty services in the hotel. The bill in restaurants is 1.2 times higher than the average for the regions of Russia.

This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.

"On the instructions of Sergei Sobyanin, modern industrial infrastructure is being consistently developed in the capital. Technopark "Ryabinovaya, 44" will be the first specialized facility in the city that was created specifically for food industry enterprises. The emergence of the technopark is an important contribution to strengthening the industrial potential of the capital and the development of a specialized cluster of the food industry," added Maxim Liksutov.

The key feature of the technology park is its specialization in meeting the needs of public catering establishments, including factory kitchens, dark kitchens, catering companies and restaurants.

"The program for stimulating the creation of employment opportunities plays a key role in the development of the city's economy, allowing for the formation of new centers for business events and the creation of modern jobs for city residents. Mosvodokanal launched a new television inspection system

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Specialists of JSC Mosvodokanal have started using a new television inspection system. It is designed to inspect hard-to-reach main sewer collectors and water pipes of medium and large diameters. Equipment testing was completed in 2024, and this year the robotic complex took its place in the arsenal of the company's technical diagnostics center. This was reported by the city economy complex.

The new equipment allows for remote and prompt assessment of the condition of extended sections of communications with a diameter of 0.5 to 4.9 meters. This is the maximum indicator for Mosvodokanal collectors. At the same time, the system is designed for a diameter of up to six meters, which allows for inspecting underwater elements of larger structures.

The remote module allows inspection of areas up to a kilometer long, which is twice as much as previous models (up to 500 meters). Its speed reaches 30 meters per minute.

The special feature of the equipment is the presence of a circular scanning acoustic sonar, capable of making a full turn in less than one second. It helps not only to see the internal state of underground utilities, but also to determine the volume of sediment that is under the wastewater. Based on the diagnostics results, a graph is drawn up, on the basis of which a decision is made on the need for cleaning work.

The television inspection system significantly facilitates the work of specialists of the technical diagnostics center of Mosvodokanal. The enterprise pays close attention to the condition of engineering communications and production facilities.

For over 20 years, a technical diagnostics center has been operating as part of Mosvodokanal JSC. This division has various robotic systems in its arsenal: wheeled, floating, equipped with push-through modules. The equipment allows checking the internal condition of pipelines and the condition of their cement-sand coating, as well as the quality of installation of butt joints and sealing of socket joints, and the presence of foreign objects.

Time for Enlightenment: How Moscow NGOs Help Children Gain Knowledge

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

One of the important areas of activity of Moscow non-profit organizations (NPO) is support of education and science. Funds help children left without parents to master the school curriculum, successfully graduate from school and enter colleges or universities, and teenagers with behavioral problems – to improve relationships with others, to improve their studies. In addition, NPOs direct funds to support young scientists who are working on the implementation of promising and ambitious projects.

Caring and responsive citizens can also provide educational assistance to those who need it. One way to support the wards of non-profit organizations is to make a donation using charity service on the mos.ru portal.

"Moscow residents help orphans study well and realize their potential in the future, and help schoolchildren with behavioral problems socialize and learn to work in a team. Every caring citizen can contribute to the development of science and education by making a donation or by signing up for a regular subscription to the charity service on the mos.ru portal," noted the Chairperson of the Moscow City Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy

Ekaterina Dragunova.

Acquire knowledge in the main subjects and continue studying at a university

Fund "Simple Things" helps orphans get a secondary school education. This charity implements the “Stairway Up” program. Its goal is to support children left without parental care and having difficulties with learning school material. The main participants of the project are students from the sixth to the 11th grade, living in centers for the promotion of family education. Experienced teachers work with children individually in key subjects: Russian language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, history, social studies and others.

In addition, senior school students receive consultations from psychologists. Thanks to the classes, the children's interest in studying increases and their academic performance improves. Psychological support helps teenagers gain self-confidence. Tutors find an approach to each child and win their trust. As a result, the children successfully pass the Basic State Exam (OGE) and the Unified State Exam (USE). For example, this year, participants in the "Stairway Up" program entered secondary and higher educational institutions in the capital, including the Moscow State Pedagogical University, the Russian University of Medicine, the Moscow Automobile and Road College named after A.A. Nikolaev and many others.

Focus on your studies and improve your academic performance

Charity fund "Shalash" helps children with behavioral problems master social skills. Often in adolescence, children have mood swings, they can lose self-control and show aggression. It is quite difficult for such children to build relationships with peers and adults, as well as to learn school material. For teenagers with behavioral problems, the Shalash Foundation has created a unique training program. Experienced teachers and volunteers conduct classes on the development of emotional intelligence and study skills. During these classes, children learn to correctly express feelings, listen to the interlocutor, negotiate with each other, work in a team and take responsibility for their actions and decisions.

The specialists of the Shalash Foundation also teach teachers and parents how to deal with difficult behavior in junior and senior schoolchildren. They explain in detail why children act this way. They also tell adults about effective tools that help them cope with difficult behavior.

Digital technologies and new methods of treatment

The activities of young scientists and research teams in Moscow are supported by the foundation "Global Alliance for Assistance". The organization directs the collected funds to conduct research and improve developments in various fields, including biotechnology, medicine, and artificial intelligence. Scientists also receive organizational and informational support. For example, this year, thanks to donations from city residents throughcharity service The mos.ru portal has produced a series of popular science podcasts

In addition, the foundation allocated resources to the implementation of the VR Inclusion project. The technology is a special application based on virtual reality. It is designed to teach children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) everyday and social skills. With the help of VR glasses, children find themselves in realistic situations, for example, when they need to cross the road or go to the store. The training is like a game, and actions can be performed as many times as necessary. Thus, children with mental disabilities experience less stress and difficulties in acquiring useful life skills. More than two thousand children with ASD have completed training in VR format. In addition, the charity plans to open and equip eight specialized classes in centers for helping children with ASD and rehabilitation boarding schools with VR equipment, as well as train specialists in educational institutions to work with it.

You can learn more about the activities of the listed funds in the charity service in the category "Science and Education". You can transfer any comfortable amount to support the program you like. You can also click on the "Help everyone" button, and then the payment will be divided equally between all organizations in the category. The service also allows you to open your own charity collection in a couple of minutes and support the wards of the "Science and Education" category programs. After opening the collection, you can share the link to it with your friends and family. This format of collective support allows you to provide more help, draw attention to the problem, and increase awareness and involvement of citizens.

You can set up regular support for funds. To do this, you need to log in to mos.ru. How to register on the portal and log in is described in one of instructions. Then, after making the first donation, you need to click on the "Connect auto payment" button on the page that will appear immediately after the funds are transferred. Next, the user needs to select the frequency and date of the write-off, as well as the amount and method of payment. At any time, the subscription can be disabled or the donation amount can be changed.

Applications are now open for the new stream of the Venture Academy program

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The capital has begun accepting applications for a new stream of the educational program "Venture Academy". This is a practice-oriented course, which is conducted by the Moscow Innovation Cluster (MIC) foundation in partnership with the Moscow Venture Fund (MVF). The program is designed for entrepreneurs, beginning investors, top managers and analysts who want to gain practical skills in the venture market.

The training provides a systematic understanding of the basics of venture investment, as well as the necessary knowledge and tools for assessing the prospects of startups and reducing risks. The course is held in a combined format: online and offline.

The theoretical part is available on the platform I. Moskov and is a series of video lessons devoted to types of investment instruments, investment models, market regulation and startup evaluation methods. Participants who successfully pass the final test will gain access to the practical module.

The practical part of the program is divided into the modules “Venture Analytics” and “Venture Deal”.

The first will be of interest to analysts who plan to work in venture funds. Participants will take master classes and receive consultations from mentors, master the skills of searching and selecting technology projects, investment analysis of startups, working with portfolio company metrics and analyzing real cases. Upon completion of the module, the best graduates of the program will have the opportunity to get an internship at the country's leading venture funds.

The Venture Deal module is aimed at beginning investors. Here, participants learn together with experts how to verify financial and business models of startups, and also get the opportunity to join a real syndicated deal.

Over the course of the program's existence, its graduates have invested over 500 million rubles in promising companies. Thus, investors in the third stream invested over eight million rubles in the development of a platform for integrated logistics services for marketplaces, and students in the fourth stream invested about 11 million rubles in the production of new-generation vending machines. This deal was the largest in the history of the program and allowed the company to scale up production and expand its network in Moscow. More than 50 investors in subsequent streams jointly invested 5.5 million rubles in a marketing platform for promoting products through bloggers, and over 20 participants in the 10th stream invested 3.3 million rubles in a startup developing functional healthy drinks.

Since 2024, the program has been actively scaling up with the support of regional development institutions and Sber. Five programs have been conducted, covering a total of 41 subjects of the Russian Federation.
