"In anticipation of the new academic year, we are carrying out comprehensive activities to improve the territories of over 60 educational institutions, including within the framework of the modernization program "My School". The main task is to create comfortable and safe spaces for students in accordance with modern standards," noted Petr Biryukov.

The projects include repairs and, where necessary, addition of new playgrounds and sports grounds. They are covered with a trauma-safe surface and modern play and sports equipment is installed. In addition, specialists are putting in order football pitches, volleyball, basketball and GTO courts, as well as workout zones.

Special attention is paid to security issues, so video surveillance systems and lanterns with energy-efficient lamps are installed. They also organize outdoor recreation areas, renovate existing pedestrian paths and lay new ones, arrange street furniture, and carry out additional landscaping.

The head of the city economy complex emphasized that all work will be completed by September 1.

How an Automated Bid Bot on a Supplier Portal Helps Business Grow

The service can be used from anywhere in the country. It helps entrepreneurs enter the interregional market and increase sales.

"The most active regions using the trading bot were Moscow, the Moscow and Ryazan regions, St. Petersburg and the Perm region. In total, in the first half of the year, they accounted for 38.4 thousand contracts worth 5.7 billion rubles, which is 86 percent of the total number and 83 percent of the volume of all transactions concluded using this function," said the head of the Moscow City Department for Competition Policy

RUDN student on winning the "I am a professional" Olympiad

Vsevolod Sannikov earned 100 points out of 100 at the All-Russian Olympiad "I am a professional" in the direction of "Creative industries" and received a gold medal of the eighth season of the competition. He had been working towards his goal for more than one year! Previously, Vsevolod became a silver medalist in the direction of "Management", but dreamed of a 100% victory. We talked to a master's student of the Higher School of Management of RUDN (direction "Digital technologies in management", 1st year) and found out which project became gold for him.

You became a medalist of the All-Russian student Olympiad "I am a professional". Tell me, who at RUDN would you like to say "thank you"?

In fact, I would like to thank several people at RUDN University. Firstly, the head of our Higher School of Management, Anna Aleksandrovna Ostrovskaya. She always helps me participate in projects, writes letters of recommendation – both for educational initiatives and for project activities. Secondly, the representatives of our partner in the Digital Technologies in Management program – Alfa-Bank. They provided incredible expertise, especially in terms of digitalization, which I used when solving a case at the Olympiad.

Tell us more about the project that brought you victory. What is its essence?

This is a project of an all-Russian online event — the first concert of Russia and China "Sputnik of Cultures" in VR format. The theme of the event was chosen in honor of the year of cultures of the Russian Federation and China, and is also connected with the fact that in 2025 the World Monuments Fund for the first time included the Moon in the list of cultural heritage sites that are at risk of destruction by the forces of nature and due to the impact of social, political and economic factors. VR is currently the fastest growing segment of the entertainment and media sector in terms of revenue, so the project is not only important from a cultural point of view, but also potentially profitable.

If we talk about how a VR concert is held for users, then first they choose an avatar, can communicate with each other in a virtual lobby (chat), play mini-games and collect cultural artifacts about Russia and China (artifacts in computer games are special items that can influence the gameplay and improve the characteristics of the selected character – editor's note). Then the virtual host explains to users how to use the interactive panel. Plus, you can watch a VR teaser with the performance of recorded avatars of a symphony orchestra. They play an AI-generated composition, which is based on classical works by Chinese and Russian authors using folk instruments. The track is processed by a professional composer and sound designer.

And this is just the beginning? Everything that happens before the concert itself? I wonder what will happen next!

The culmination is the user switching to the VR concert control mode. The viewer becomes an active participant in the online event, and in the role of a conductor! And the success of the concert he conducts will determine whether he will protect the Moon from a meteorite fall. At the end, the successful player will be treated to an immersive VR salute with gratitude from the artists and announcements of future events of the project. In addition, he will have the opportunity to buy NFT merch (a unique digital object) for use in the metaverse of Genshin Impact, a very popular computer game right now. Users who show the best conducting results will also open collectible artifacts dedicated to the years of Russia and China in culture.

This is a truly unusual project. And what skill do you think you acquired at RUDN had the greatest impact on your victory?

If I had to single out one skill, it would probably be respect and love for other people. We have a multicultural university: they say that more than 160 nationalities are represented here. Of course, I haven’t counted them all yet (smiles), but when you see people from a variety of communities every day, it’s like you’re in a metaverse. It’s an environment where everyone tries to treat each other with understanding and a unique perspective. This is where something truly new is born.

Which creative industry leader would you like to work with – and why?

I think I am lucky: I work with strong experts and leaders of the creative economy almost every week. But I would especially like to develop cooperation in the music industry – because our soul, knowledge and practice largely come from there. I think the interdisciplinary and intersectoral format is only a plus for us – especially if we are talking about creating new shows for viewers. These can be immersive formats, new musical concepts, which we have been working on for several years. Our favorites are VR concerts.

Is winning the Olympics about points or something more?

Winning the “I am a professional” Olympiad is a really long and difficult path, like a real TV series. I participated from the second season. Then I won “silver”. In the sixth season, I chose a more creative direction — producing. I was eliminated in the semi-finals because our project on metaverses and VR turned out to be too new for the industry — there were few devices, low penetration. But two years later — the same topic, the same ideas — and we took gold. And with the maximum score: 100 out of 100. This was the first case in the history of the direction. So my advice is never give up. If you believe in the project, in your dream, you will definitely succeed.

If you could write yourself a short message the day before the Olympics, what would it be?

If we don't take into account any insights and tips that would have helped us in the final, then I would probably remind myself that our project — and it was connected with the audience and real people — should come from the heart. I would recall the words from the legendary RUDN anthem, the music for which was written by Galina Nikolaevna Trofimova: "I love RUDN, because it is first and foremost about people — and about love for them."

A youth laboratory of digital and intellectual technologies for the development of the territories of the Russian Federation will open at the State University of Management

The project of the State University of Management "Scientific, methodological and practical foundations for the development and application of digital and intelligent technologies to ensure sustainable development of the regions of the Russian Federation, including remote and hard-to-reach areas of Siberia, the Far East and the Arctic zone", which was previously supported in the competition for the creation of new youth laboratories within the framework of the federal project "Development of human capital in the interests of regions, industries and the research and development sector" of the national project "Science and Universities", successfully passed the budget commission.

Happy Baptism of Rus' Day!

He supported practice-oriented proposals aimed at improving the mechanisms of adaptation and legal regulation of the targeted organized recruitment of foreign workers, and also proposed strengthening the vector of development of "public diplomacy" institutions in the sphere of regulating migration processes and strengthening the international positions of the Russian language in the activities of the Working Group.

Placenta on a chip! RUDN researcher wins competition for young scientists with cell model project

Previously, such models included only two types of cells, which did not quite reflect the real physiology of the organ and the important role of the immune system for its normal functioning. Microfluidic technologies appeared as a revolutionary achievement in the field of biomedicine, transforming the approach to modeling the physiology of individual human organs and cellular analysis of the processes occurring in them. These technologies use channels with sizes in the micrometer range to manipulate small volumes of liquids, which allows, by simulating the blood flow in the organ, to observe complex biological interactions in vitro," – Olga Lazareva, researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Pathophysiology of the Research Institute of Molecular and Cellular Medicine of the RUDN Medical Institute.

The State University of Management has developed a methodology for assessing the maturity of the KVN movement in Russian universities

On July 24-27, 2025, the forum “KVN as a resource for the development of creative economies in the region” was held in the city of Kaliningrad. The organizer of the forum was the Methodological Center for the Study and Strengthening of the KVN Movement in Higher Education Institutions of the State University of Management.

Let us recall that the Methodological Center was established at the beginning of the year by a decision taken at the IV All-Russian Forum “KVN – School of Leaders” in the city of Sochi.

On July 24, a seminar-meeting for the organizers of the KVN movement from the universities of the Northwestern Federal District was held in the Youth House of Kaliningrad, where current issues of the KVN movement in the region were discussed. The methodology is based on three key elements: the ability to develop the KVN movement at the university, the ability to organize the correct resource provision, the university's ability to use KVN for the socio-economic development of the region, that is, to implement the third mission of the university. Dialogue without borders: SPbPU summer academy on energy has ended

The summer season of the International Academy of Power Engineering, an educational project that unites students and young researchers from Russia, Europe and Asia, has ended at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The program is held at the Institute of Power Engineering and annually brings together participants seeking an in-depth study of modern trends in the industry.

The Academy has been held since 2016 and offers educational modules in five areas: "Electric Power Engineering", "Nuclear Power Engineering", "Digital Technologies in Power Engineering", "Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development", "Turbomechanic Engineering".

In 2025, 16 international students participated in the Summer School from July 14 to 25 in person and 89 remotely. Thanks to the hybrid format, first tested during the pandemic, the geography of participants is expanding while maintaining interactivity and quality of education. All classes are held in multimedia classrooms with the ability to connect listeners from all over the world.

Among the participating universities are long-standing partners of SPbPU: Zhejiang University, Harbin Engineering University, Shandong University, Tsinghua University, Beihang University (all in China) and the University of Padua (Italy). Students of the Polytechnic University itself also joined the academy.

Today, an engineer must think globally: understand the international agenda, understand new technologies, and be able to work in multinational teams. That is why we included our students in the program – to give them the opportunity to truly immerse themselves in the global energy dialogue, – said the head of the summer academy program, associate professor of HSE Ekaterina Sokolova.

The students were particularly interested in the master class "Virtual NPP power unit: application of a virtual power unit for modeling NPP operating modes", where the participants modeled the operating modes of a nuclear power plant using digital twins. Practical cases on creating models on MATLAB/Simulink and Comsol Multiphysics allowed them to acquire the skills in demand in the digital transformation of the industry.

Each educational module consists of several lectures and seminars that provide fundamental knowledge in the energy sector and reflect modern challenges: students study the use of AI in nuclear energy, digitalization, sustainability of energy systems and modern equipment, and renewable technologies of the future.

The Academy concluded for the second time with an Energy Forum, where students presented their research on various topics and exchanged ideas that could develop into international research, articles and joint grant initiatives.

The educational part was complemented by a diverse cultural program: excursions to the State Hermitage, the Yusupov Palace, walks along rivers and canals, interactive tasks and master classes in the Russian language. Digital excursions around St. Petersburg were prepared for online participants.

We do not just teach, we create an environment for academic exchange and intercultural dialogue. The program becomes more complex every year, because the requirements grow, and with them our interest in future collaborations. We hope to get in touch with universities that are new to us, which may also be interested in such a program, – shared Ekaterina Sokolova.

In the future, the organizers plan to add more practical laboratory classes, joint project blocks, and expand the range of topics through new partnerships with industrial and research centers.

July was a busy month for the military-historical club "Nash Polytech", which took part in several significant events. A special place in the series of events was occupied by a unique exhibition at the Concern "Sea Underwater Weapons – Gidropribor" and festivals.

The Marine Underwater Weapons — Gidropribor Concern is hosting the exhibition Torpedo Plant No. 181 in the Blockade and at the Front. The attention of visitors is drawn, among other things, to the exhibit of the Nash Polytech Military Scientific Institution — the legendary PPD-40 submachine gun. The SPbPU search team found the weapon last year at the site of fierce battles of the 3rd Frunze Division. It is noteworthy that the soldier with whom the PPD-40 was found volunteered for the front straight from Torpedo Plant No. 181.

Today, the restored PPD-40 is not just a museum exhibit, but a living testimony to the courage and fortitude of the defenders of the Motherland. During the exhibition, it literally returned to its origins. Thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts and searchers, the weapon that saw the most difficult moments of military history has found a new life and a worthy place in the exhibition dedicated to the feat of the torpedo plant workers during the Great Patriotic War, said Marina Gladkova, Deputy Director of the VIK "Our Polytech".

This month, activists of the VIC "Our Polytech" took part in the festival "Password – Victory", which took place at the Narva Gate. Visitors to the event visited the headquarters of the command of the Great Patriotic War, got acquainted with Soviet weapons, visited a tent camp and a medical exhibition, and tested their accuracy in a pneumatic shooting range.

The main event of July was the club's participation in the large-scale military-historical festival "Ostrovsky Line" in the Pskov Region. It was a real memory marathon, uniting more than a thousand spectators. In one day, the students performed in three reconstructions at once. They recreated the heroic defense of the Ostrovsky fortified area in the summer of 1941, the actions of partisan detachments behind enemy lines, and the breakthrough of the powerful defensive line "Panther" in 1944. The T-40 tank restored by the club activists was very popular. It was here, at the "Ostrovsky Line", that the exhibit debuted a year ago. Since then, the vehicle has become an integral part of large reconstructions.
