As part of the festival "Theatre Boulevard" The Sovremennik Theatre has a new space, the Green Yard. It hosts free creative meetings, film screenings, plays and cartoons featuring artists from Sovremennik and the Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theatre.

The opening was attended by the artistic director of the Sovremennik Theatre, People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Mashkov. "The theatre is going on holiday, but Sovremennik, which this year shares the same stage with the Oleg Tabakov Theatre, has decided to extend the holidays for you," he noted.

Elena Millioti, an honored artist of Russia who has served at the Sovremennik Theatre since 1962, also invites you to the Green Yard: “You will enjoy yourself, come to us. It is such a joy that many performances have remained in my memory on film.”

Poetic atmosphere

In August, the performances of Sovremennik and the Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theatre are not on stage, but the theatre does not part with the audience: on August 2, the Green Yard venue opened. To the sounds of melodies from Soviet films performed on the piano, the audience sits down in front of the big screen.

Here, in the heart of noisy Moscow, a poetic and peaceful atmosphere reigns – greenery, soft twilight, cozy armchairs are conducive to heartfelt meetings in the summer theater. While the stages and halls of Sovremennik and the Moscow Theater of Oleg Tabakov are waiting for the new season, the audience is offered a new format.

On the big screen

A rich program awaits visitors to the Green Yard. As Vladimir Mashkov says, the actors of Sovremennik and the Oleg Tabakov Theater have done a lot for cinema, for the human soul, so throughout the month they will show films with the participation of actors – those who are currently serving there, and their great predecessors.

Oleg Efremov, Oleg Tabakov, Galina Volchek, Igor Kvasha, Evgeny Evstigneev, Liliya Tolmacheva, Viktor Sergachev and other masters of the stage will shine on the screen. The program includes the films Welcome, or No Trespassing (1964) by Elem Klimov, Once More About Love (1968) by Georgy Natanson, Beware of the Car (1966) by Eldar Ryazanov and other cult films.

Among them is Oleg Efremov's first directorial work, "A Bridge Is Being Built" (1965), in which the entire young team of the Sovremennik Theatre took part. Vladimir Mashkov emphasizes: "It seems to me that this is an amazing, honest and very bright work of great masters."

Viewers are also invited to television performances: “The Lower Depths” (1972), “Echelon” (1988), “Hurry to Do Good” (1982), “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” (1992) and other productions that have been preserved on film and allow us to see the history of the theatre.

In the morning, cartoons voiced by Oleg Tabakov, Valentin Gaft, Marina Neyolova will be shown for children. Among them are the series "Prostokvashina", "Alice in Wonderland", "38 Parrots", "Bobik Visiting Barbos" and other animated films familiar from childhood. Children's films await young viewers – "Pippi Longstocking", "Timur and His Team", "Mary Poppins, Goodbye" and others.

Important dates

"On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Sovremennik Theatre, which will be celebrated in 2026, you will see our founders on the screen. August 17 marks the 90th anniversary of Oleg Tabakov's birth – we will arrange amazing screenings. Oleg Pavlovich starred in more than 120 films, and you will see his best works," invites Vladimir Mashkov.

"We are not playing theater – we are looking for the truth on stage." Sovremennik – 69

Other dates with thematic screenings and meetings will not go unnoticed: the day of the end of the Battle of Leningrad (August 9), Viktor Rozov's birthday (August 21), the day of the defeat of German troops by Soviet troops in the Battle of Kursk (August 23), Russian Cinema Day (August 27), and Konstantin Simonov's memorial day (August 28). A marathon of the series "Liquidation" starring Vladimir Mashkov is planned for August 24, as well as a meeting with the creators of the project.

"Forever Alive"

"Green Yard" opened with a showing of the TV version of the play "Forever Alive". In 1956, it was with this play that the history of the Sovremennik Theatre began. On the screen, viewers got acquainted with the TV play in 1976, it was staged by Oleg Efremov with the young and older generations of actors. The TV version can be seen again on August 21.

"I was lucky: I took part in the first performance of the Sovremennik Theatre – it was then called not Sovremennik, but the Studio of Young Actors," recalls Elena Millioti. – Oleg Nikolaevich Efremov, who created this studio together with his friends who graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School, were involved in it – Evgeny Evstigneev, Oleg Tabakov, Liliya Tolmacheva and others. I played a small role in the 1956 performance of a girl who came to see the main character off to the front. This performance meant a lot to our theatre. It ran for a very long time, was dearly loved by everyone, many generations of artists passed through it. It opened every season at the Sovremennik Theatre."

"Forever Alive." All about the first performance of the Sovremennik Theatre

It is symbolic that this performance opened the Green Yard. "Forever Alive" is about the masters who will come to life on the big screen for a new generation of viewers for a month. The artists remained on film – and therefore forever in history and memory.

"Green Yard" is open from August 2 to 31 every day except Monday. All events are free, the current program can be found onproject website.

Join the project fitrock training "My Sports District" Anyone aged 18 or over can visit the sites "Summer in Moscow"Classes are conducted by instructors who demonstrate the correct technique for performing exercises and help beginners.

Participants begin with a warm-up and then learn the movements and basic steps of aerobics for the subsequent main part, gradually increasing the tempo, amplitude and load.

"The entire training session is conducted with drumsticks in hand for a reason: they are used to develop a sense of rhythm. Moreover, working with drumsticks helps to increase the range of motion during strength exercises: squats, lunges and bends," said Yana Dyubakova, a dance fitness trainer for the My Sports District project.

Fitrock has a positive effect on the emotional state. According to Yana Dyubakova, it is a good stress reliever: at the end of the work week, you can come to a class and reduce nervous tension in a group training session with drumsticks to rock hits.

The Future is in the Hands of the Young: College Graduates on Their First Steps in the Profession

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Many students of Moscow colleges find employment at major enterprises while still studying, and employers are eager to hire young specialists. The fact is that in the capital's secondary specialized educational institutions, students receive real practical skills from the first year, having mastered which anyone can begin to move up the career ladder.

"We try to make the educational programs of Moscow colleges as practice-oriented as possible, tailored to current market demands. Today, the majority of available vacancies in Moscow are aimed specifically at specialists with secondary vocational education. Already now, two-thirds of students receive job offers while still studying, and 95 percent find employment in the first year after graduating from college," she said.

Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

A photo exhibition is dedicated to such successful young people "Colleges of Moscow. Success is guaranteed!" on Chistoprudny and Tverskoy Boulevards. A mos.ru correspondent talked to some of the heroes of the project and found out how to find a promising job in your youth, what skills you need to have for this, and where the future graduates plan to go next.

Engineer of the Future

Konstantin Nadeev is a third-year student Moscow College of Business Technologies in the specialty of "operation of unmanned aircraft systems." He still has a year left before graduation, and he has been officially employed for several years. He currently works in a design bureau, consults on projects, and teaches schoolchildren and students.

“I have been interested in modeling and robotics since I was 10. In the seventh grade, I received the third category in unmanned systems in a drone race, and after the ninth grade, I entered college. At that time, I had already participated in various drone projects. These aircraft will soon be needed in almost any production, for example, to monitor oil rigs, determine the accuracy of laying railway tracks. The devices can be controlled by artificial intelligence. Now I am engaged in programming, metalworking, and assembly, I design drones from scratch. I consider myself an accomplished specialist, and college helps to find new connections in the professional environment, gives the opportunity to test and improve skills. For example, I can participate in championships, and also lead a champion's circle at my educational institution. And a diploma is needed. Then I will go to university and improve my robotics,” says Konstantin Nadeev.

The technology sector is one of the most in-demand. Many Moscow companies are happy to invite students who gain knowledge in this area to work. To make it comfortable for them to combine professional activity with study, employers often offer a hybrid schedule: a couple of days at the plant, the rest – remotely. In addition, young employees are asked how many hours they are ready to work, and they adjust to them.

Start a career in medicine

Pavel Bobrov just finished his second year Medical College No. 5, where he entered after the 11th grade. He has been working in the sanitary and transport service for a year now. City Clinical Hospital No. 1 named after N.I. Pirogov.

"I became interested in medicine as a child, dreaming of becoming a doctor. But in this field it is better to advance gradually, there is no need to rush, so first I went to college to study to become a paramedic. Here I understood in which field I would have to develop, I was convinced that I had chosen the right direction, and I got my first experience. Now I can discuss medical history and diagnoses with professional doctors – we speak the same language," notes Pavel Bobrov.

The young man received an invitation to work when he was finishing his first year at college. It involves transporting patients between departments. When a shift begins, Pavel Bobrov receives a message from the dispatcher about the patient's condition, weight, and mobility. This way, the employee understands what task he faces. He needs to react quickly, because often a person needs to be urgently taken to the operating room.

"At this stage, this is good practice for me. After graduating from college, in a year, I plan to get accredited as a paramedic to work in an ambulance. Then I plan to go to university to become either an anesthesiologist-resuscitator or a plastic surgeon. Of course, if I choose the second specialty, I will have to study for a long time – the residency alone will take five years, the profession is difficult," says Pavel Bobrov.

From welders to managers

In June 2025, Vladislav Zonin graduated from the urban development educational complex after three years of study. "Capital", and got a job as a welder at the Moscow Machine-Building Plant "Avangard" in the winter.

"At school, I didn't think about what profession to choose. A friend suggested that after the ninth grade I study to become a welder, since it was a promising specialty. I tried it and it worked. In my third year, I was sent to an industrial practice at a plant, the manager appreciated my abilities and hired me. I work five days a week. At first, it was difficult to combine it with my studies, but then I switched to an individual curriculum at college and eventually graduated successfully," says Vladislav Zonin.

A young specialist works in the repair shop. "We are the plant's ambulance: if something breaks, we go and fix it. The rest of the time, we make parts – the tasks are always different, so there is no time to get bored," says Vladislav Zonin. He likes the welding process itself, when disparate parts are made into a single whole. And he does it all with his own hands.

Vladislav Zonin admits: of course, training on machines in welding workshops and a real enterprise are not the same thing. In the workshop, the level of responsibility is higher, you can't make mistakes. "I was very lucky with my colleagues, they supported me, helped me, and gave me advice. Now I feel confident," says our interlocutor.

Now Vladislav Zonin is planning to enroll in a university and advance in the management field, although he had not made such plans before. He will study by correspondence so as not to leave production. "It was here, at work, that I realized that I could climb the career ladder to the head of a department or even a plant director," says the college graduate.

"Active Citizens" will select films that will be included in the program of the anniversary "Cinema Night"

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

This year the promotion "Movie Night" celebrates its 10th anniversary. In anticipation of the holiday, the Active Citizen project andcinema chain "Moskino" prepared special vote. Residents will choose their favorite Russian films that were shown at Moskino venues from 2016 to 2024. A total of 18 films are presented for voting. Among them are the sports drama Legend No. 17, the poignant film Battalion about women's units that fought for the Fatherland in World War I, and Challenge, filmed in Earth orbit. The options that receive the most votes will become part of the program of the anniversary Cinema Night, which will take place in the second half of August.

"Active Citizens" have chosen the most interesting night cultural events in the capital

"Cinema Night 2016": Hockey Legend and Female Heroines

The first contender for participation in the anniversary program "Movie Nights"— the film "Legend No. 17". It was shown as part of the very first event in 2016. Nikolai Lebedev's feature film (2012) tells the story of Valery Kharlamov's rise and the historic victory of his compatriots in the USSR-Canada Super Series in 1972.

The second candidate is "Battalion" by Dmitry Meskhiev (2014). The film is dedicated to the heroism of Russian women volunteers who stood up to defend the Fatherland in World War I. Viewers will see how the courage and patriotism of ordinary Russian women manifested itself in the most difficult conditions of wartime.

"Cinema Night 2017": the feat of the Panfilov soldiers and a space breakthrough

"Active Citizens" will choose which film from the 2017 "Cinema Night" program will be included in the anniversary program. It could be the war drama "Panfilov's 28" (Kim Druzhinin, Andrey Shalyopa, 2016) about the legendary feat of the soldiers of the 316th Rifle Division under the command of General Ivan Panfilov in November 1941. The film recreates the events of the heroic battle at the Dubosekovo junction, where 28 soldiers stopped the advance of German tanks on Moscow.

The film will compete with the creation "Time of the First" by director Dmitry Kiselev (2017) – a dramatic story about the first manned spacewalk in 1965. The plot centers on the feat of cosmonauts Alexei Leonov and Pavel Belyaev, who encountered an emergency situation during the historic mission of the Voskhod-2 spacecraft.

"Cinema Night 2018": The Birth of the T-34 Tank and the Battle for Leningrad

Voters will also determine which film from Cinema Night 2018 will be included in the 2025 program. Viewers will have to choose from films dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.

The film "Tanks" by director Kim Druzhinin (2018) is an adventure war drama about engineer Mikhail Koshkin, who, on the threshold of war with Nazi Germany, develops a prototype of the innovative T-34 tank. To prove the uniqueness of the combat vehicle, Koshkin and his team set off to Moscow in tanks under their own power. But soon the run turns into an unpredictable race, where off-roading becomes the lesser of two evils.

And in the drama “Frontier” by Dmitry Tyurin (2017), businessman Mikhail is transported from the present to the past – to the banks of the Neva, where the battles for Leningrad took place in 1941-1942.

"Cinema Night 2019": an action movie and a bright comedy

"Cinema Night 2019" combined two different genres – action and comedy. The Russian-Serbian film "Balkan Frontier" by director Andrey Volgin (2019) is based on the events of 1999 in Kosovo. According to the plot, a Russian special forces group receives an order to take control of a strategically important airfield and hold it until reinforcements arrive.

Another film presented during the Cinema Night 2019 event was Policeman from Rublyovka. New Year's Mayhem by Ilya Kulikov (2018). This is a humorous story about how on New Year's Eve a police station is under threat of closure. To save the situation, the main character and his colleagues decide to rob a bank, but everything does not go according to plan.

Cinema Night 2020: Family Drama and Russian Box Office Record Holder

The 2020 Cinema Night program included Ice 2 (Zhora Kryzhovnikov, 2020), a sequel to the popular drama about the love between a figure skater and a hockey player. In this part, the couple has a daughter, but the mother dies in childbirth. The girl grows up and soon becomes interested in figure skating. And her father is afraid that she will decide to take up sports seriously and repeat her mother's fate.

In the hit film "Kholop" (Klim Shipenko, 2019), young Grigory finds himself in an artificially created village stylized as the 19th century. Here he becomes a groom named Grishka. In unfamiliar conditions, the hero has to learn to live differently, and over time he begins to reconsider his views on life, family, and himself.

"Movie Night 2021": A Touching Story of Friendship and a Heart-Breaking Disaster Film

Muscovites will vote for their favorite film of the "Cinema Night 2021", which will be included in the program of the campaign in 2025. Users will have to choose between an amazing story of friendship between a boy and a dog based on real events and a disaster film about the heroism of Russian firefighters. Thus, according to the plot of "Palma" by Alexander Domogarov Jr. (2020), a shepherd dog named Palma remains at the airport after her owner has flown away. She waits for him day after day, until one day a boy who has lost his mother appears in her life.

The disaster film Fire by Alexey Nuzhny (2020) centers on a team of firefighters who become the only hope for people in trouble. They find themselves in the middle of a fire in Karelia that could destroy an entire village. The film includes real footage of forest fires in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

"Cinema Night 2022": a comedy drama about the power of love and the story of a grand chess confrontation

"Active citizens" will have to choose which film, broadcast as part of the "Cinema Night – 2022" campaign, will appear on Moskino screens again this year. The plot of the comedy fantasy by Alexey Nuzhny "Couple from the Future" (2021) centers on a husband and wife who want to separate after 20 years of marriage. They accidentally end up in the past, on the very day they decided to get married. Now the couple from the future decides to separate their younger selves, but the young people defend their love.

Alexey Sidorov's sports drama World Champion (2021) tells the story of the match for the world championship title, which took place in the Philippines in 1978 between the current record holder Anatoly Karpov and grandmaster Viktor Korchnoi, who emigrated from the USSR several years earlier.

Cinema Night 2023: The world's first film shot in space and the story of a Soviet officer's heroism

The famous “Challenge” (Klim Shipenko, 2023) may appear on the screens of “Cinema Night 2025”. The world’s first film partially shot in orbit tells the story of a female surgeon who goes to the International Space Station to save the life of an astronaut. She will have to overcome her uncertainty and fears, and also perform a complex operation in zero gravity.

The action of "The Righteous" by Sergei Ursulyak (2023) takes place in 1942, during the Great Patriotic War. Red Army officer Nikolai Kiselev receives an order to take over 200 Jews from the occupied Belarusian lands behind the front line – the elderly, women and children who escaped the German massacre. The exhausted people, who have lost their relatives and experienced incredible horror, have to walk hundreds of kilometers along forest paths to escape.

"Cinema Night 2024": Rethinking Kir Bulychev's Story and the History of Soviet Female Pilots

The city residents will have to decide which film will be included in the program of the event this year. The first contender is the science fiction film "One Hundred Years Ago" by director Alexander Andryushchenko (2024), based on the story of the same name by Kir Bulychev about the adventures of Alisa Selezneva and Kolya Gerasimov in different worlds.

"Air" by Alexey German Jr. (2023) tells about the events on the Leningrad Front in 1942. A unit of young female pilots arrives at a mixed aviation regiment. They have to master the art of aircraft combat.

Voting prepared the project "Active Citizen" and the capital Department of Culture.

Users of the project will be able to take part in the survey "Active Citizen" with standard or full account on the mos.ru portal. Participants will be awarded points for the city loyalty program "A Million Prizes". They can be used to obtain goods and services, including discounts in stores, pharmacies, cafes and restaurants. "Active citizens" also donate points to charity, top up their Troika transport card account and the "Parking of Russia" app.

Project "Active Citizen" has been operating since 2014. During this time, more than seven million people have joined it, and more than seven thousand votes have been held. Every month, 30 to 40 decisions are implemented in the city. The project is being developed by the State Institution "New Management Technologies" and the capital Department of Information Technology.

The creation, development and operation of the e-government infrastructure, including the provision of mass socially significant services, as well as other services in electronic form, correspond to the objectives of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State" and the Moscow regional project "Digital Public Administration". The ProDvizhenie Auto Festival at VDNKh was attended by 270 thousand people

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On August 2 and 3, VDNKh hosted a large automobile festival, ProDvizhenie, timed to coincide with the birthday of the country's main exhibition. The event was attended by 270,000 people — everyone interested in automobile culture, history, and the future of the Russian automobile industry.

It was at VDNKh that the most striking achievements of the domestic automobile industry were demonstrated starting in 1939. Today, this tradition is being revived. The ProDvizhenie auto festival united history, art and entertainment. During two festive days, visitors got acquainted with more than a century of the automobile industry history. They saw over 500 exhibits, including retro cars, iconic sports cars, legendary motorcycles, supercars, lowriders and vehicles of the future. The organizers paid special attention to domestic cars that have made our country famous far beyond its borders.

Legends of Russia

One of the main and most spectacular events of the auto festival was the unique exhibition "Legends of Russia", which was located along the Central Alley of VDNKh. Here you could trace the entire evolution of the Russian auto industry – from the replica of the car of Pyotr Frese and Evgeny Yakovlev, presented to the public for the first time at the Nizhny Novgorod exhibition in 1896, to the Aurus Senat of 2025.

A special event of the auto festival at VDNKh was the exposition of automobile museums of Russia and private collections near the Friendship of Nations fountain. More than a hundred unique examples of vehicles of the past were provided by the Museum of the Special Purpose Garage of the Federal Security Service of Russia, the Moscow Transport Museum, and the AvtoVAZ and UAZ plant museums. Also, not far from the famous fountain during the auto festival, an original exposition of Moskvich cars was located, covering the key stages in the history of the legendary brand. The exhibition, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of this brand, told about the contribution of the Lenin Komsomol Automobile Plant to the development of the domestic auto industry, its role in the industry and culture of the country.

Rare buses and special equipment from the collection of the capital's Museum of Transport will be shown at VDNKh

At a special site, guests saw cars that have become a symbol of comfort and reliability of public transport in the capital. One of the most unusual exhibits of this exhibition is a unique MAZ-ZIL-200 truck-tow truck. No less interesting for the automotive community was the AvtoVAZ exhibition. Visitors were able to evaluate the design, technical characteristics and innovative solutions of the concern's new cars. A striking premiere of the exhibition was the demonstration of the new model of the Lada Azimut plant.

At the arch of the southern entrance to the VDNKh auto festival, one could see a collection of custom motorcycles — 23 bikes of different models. Concerts and dance master classes were also held there for visitors.

The ProDvizhenie auto festival took place in the year of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. And the theme of this historical event was reflected in its exposition. In front of pavilion No. 64 "Optika" there was a thematic zone "Cars of Victory". Here one could see wheeled vehicles that worked on the front roads: army SUVs GAZ-64 and GAZ-67, a GAZ-MM truck, as well as unique armored cars.

Back to the Future

On the site in front of the Atom Museum, the attention of visitors was held for two days by real transport of the future. Here one could see compact electric cars "Atom" and, of course, the unmanned mainline tractor Navio L5.

Open festival area

Owners of rare cars, collectors got an exclusive opportunity to present their cars and communicate with guests within the framework of the open festival area on Oktyabrskaya Square of VDNKh. The conditions of participation included sending a photo of the car, a short story about it, as well as data on the make, model and year of production of the car. The acceptance of applications from private collectors for participation in the event was opened on the website of the VDNKh auto festival.

Collectors whose applications were selected by the competition committee were able to personally show their cars to thousands of VDNKh visitors, tell how rare examples were acquired and restored, and also take part in a rich concert and gastronomic program at the site on Oktyabrskaya Square.

Legends of the World

You could get acquainted with the legends of the world automobile industry near Pavilion No. 1 "Central". Here they presented cars that left the brightest mark in the history of the world automobile industry, including Ford Mustang, Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette, DeLorean DMC-12, Ferrari Testarossa.

In addition, the best cars of different brands and eras of the world's leading automakers awaited guests of VDNKh in the Nalchik Square. Visitors were able to look at iconic models of past decades from different countries of the world: cars of the golden era of Mercedes-Benz and BMW, American sports cars Corvette and Mustang, Japanese rally legends of Subaru and Mitsubishi and, of course, the standards of automobile style of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.

A vibrant program was prepared for city residents and tourists. They participated in dance and creative workshops, talked with representatives of the retro rally "VDNKh – our heritage", which took place on August 3, and sang about the cherry "nine" at a concert of the group "Kombinatsia" in the green theater. All those who wished were also able to attend theatrical performances and a large festive concert dedicated to the birthday of VDNKh.

During the festival, you could grab a bite to eat at thematic food trucks in Nalchik Square, on Oktyabrskaya Square, and at the arch of the southern entrance. And the House of Russian Cuisine presented “tormozki” — filling and quick snacks for car tourists.

When finishing the main volume of the facades, porcelain stoneware panels of white, light gray and dark beige colors are used. The first floor will be decorated with graphite-colored concrete tiles, partially using volumetric masonry, and the height of the residential sections will be visually reduced with the help of white horizontal belts on the building. The architectural appearance will be complemented by perforated baskets for air conditioners.

Restoration work on the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge was completed in just 14 months. Sergei Sobyanin spoke about how the renovation of this cultural heritage site was carried out in on your telegram channel.

“First of all, we replaced the beams and supporting structures damaged by corrosion, laid new communications, restored the granite cladding, installed modern lighting and repaired cast iron fences,” the Moscow Mayor wrote.

The most difficult stage is the installation of temporary metal structures for repairing sidewalks without restricting navigation. Some work was carried out directly from the water using barges and pontoons.

Then the bridge's stairways were restored to their historical appearance, and the road surface and lighting system elements were updated.

During the reconstruction, advanced technologies were used. For example, remotely controlled robots replaced workers and manual jackhammers, and also helped to perform tasks in hard-to-reach places. This increased productivity and safety of work.

In addition, new building materials were used. For example, solutions were used that harden in less than seven hours, high-quality steel with increased resistance to external influences and corrosion, and much more.

Thanks to the reconstruction, the bridge will be able to serve for many more years.
