Mozambique's Foreign Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas visited RUDN University. The main outcome of the meeting was a proposal to create a Russian Language Centre in the republic.

At the beginning of the event, RUDN President Vladimir Mikhailovich noted that more than 13,000 foreign students from 160 countries study at the university, and over 2,500 of them are from African countries. There are 22 Mozambican citizens at the university. These are future architects, geologists, agronomists, builders, economists, doctors, mathematicians, lawyers, specialists in the oil and gas sector and international relations.

During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the university’s position in the world.

"We are in the top 100 in the areas of chemistry, linguistics, modern languages, and mathematics. Also, RUDN, according to the UI GreenMetric rating, is the greenest university in Russia, and ranks 22nd in the world," Vladimir Filippov, President of RUDN.

Russian language in schools in Mozambique

RUDN and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique agreed to open a Russian Language Center in the republic. The center is planned to be opened on the basis of the Eduardo Mondlane University, with which our university has been cooperating since 1977. The plans also include promoting the Russian language not only in universities, but also in schools in Mozambique, and facilitating the growth of popularity of Russian education in the republic.

"The RUDN partner educational organization in Mozambique will become a venue for the RUDN Open Olympiad for foreign citizens. We have been holding the Olympiad since 2016, and its winners receive the right to study at the university under the Russian Government quota," Marina Rekets, RUDN Vice-Rector for International Affairs.

At the end of the business meeting, Maria Lukash and Vladimir Filippov exchanged gifts. The head of the Mozambican Foreign Ministry presented the RUDN president with a "50 Years of Independence" badge and a black wood statuette — a symbol of the joint work of the republic and the university. In turn, Vladimir Mikhailovich presented the foreign delegation with a painting depicting the main building of RUDN.

Conversation with students

After the talks, Maria Lucas spoke with Mozambican citizens studying in Russia. They talked about many things: about the life of students in our country, about events in Mozambique and about possible measures to support students in the form of a special scholarship. The head of the Mozambican Foreign Ministry noted that she would discuss the students' initiatives in the Government of the Republic.

"We really liked that many students from African countries, including Mozambique, study at RUDN. Moreover, they receive education in the specialties that are of great interest to us. But we still have to make great efforts to have many more of our students study here. And for those who are already here, my message is: "Return to your country after your studies to develop Mozambique and also to develop the African continent. So that it becomes what we want to see," – Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique.

Polytechnic University became the leader in the number of SVO participants and their children admitted to the university

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Fontanka.ru conducted a study of the results of the admission campaign to St. Petersburg universities under the quota for participants in the special military operation and their children. An analysis of data from enrollment orders and competition lists showed that the first place in terms of the number of those enrolled is occupied by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

In 2025, 252 people were admitted to SPbPU under a separate quota, which is 1.7 times more than last year. 104 of them were admitted without entrance examinations, which indicates the significant support provided by the university to this category of applicants.

Polytechnic University ranks first in St. Petersburg and fifth in Russia in terms of the number of applicants enrolled in this category. But what is important here is not the numbers, but the development of an individual educational trajectory and support for such students throughout the entire period of study, noted Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Lyudmila Pankova.

Such a high demand for educational programs of our university speaks, first of all, about the level of trust of applicants and their families in the faculty of the Polytechnic University. After all, they have an important task – to ensure a high level of training taking into account the current background of the applicant, to analyze progress, to provide opportunities for development, that is, to provide a comprehensive individual approach, which is quite a serious challenge on such a scale. We strive to provide equal opportunities for obtaining a quality education to all our students, supporting them in various life situations, – commented Vice-Rector for Human Resources Policy Maria Vrublevskaya.

This year, 2,028 people entered St. Petersburg universities under a separate quota for SVO participants and their children, which is almost twice as many as last year.

More detailed results of the study can be found by link.

Working in a Fairytale: Altair Explores Sochi Park

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The first student service squad of the Polytechnic University "Altair" has once again set off to conquer the south of Russia. This is already the eighth working season for the guys. The fighters and candidates work in the federal territory "Sirius", where they were in 2021, 2022 and 2023. But this summer they found themselves in an unexpected place – the amusement park "Sochi Park".

Sochi Park opened in 2014 as the first theme park in Russia and an alternative to Disneyland. The park is imbued with the atmosphere of Russian folk tales and consists of several theme zones where fairy tale characters meet: Baba Yaga, Koschei, the Sea Princess, the Learned Cat and their friends.

The fighters and candidates work as amusement ride controllers, amusement restaurant operators, photo service sales clerks, souvenir shops, and fast food outlets. There is even a position of arcade game operator assistant, and all of this is very different from the usual positions of maids, waiters, housekeepers, and kitchen workers for the squad. But still, every day the guys try to provide quality service and perform their duties well.

"In our fourth year, we went to work at Sochi Park. It's great because the work of a maid is monotonous, it's interesting to try something new," said former detachment commissioner Irina Iskortseva. "But for those who came for their first season, I think it's also better than working in a hotel, because you feel like an adult, full-fledged employee: you open the point yourself, communicate with guests, solve problems, close the shift. And I think it's really cool for beginners, especially for those who are working for the first time in their life. It's responsibility and valuable experience working with people."

Half of the work season is already behind us. During this time, the student service team "Altair" managed to gain unique experience and learn a lot from scratch. The students attentively serve guests and try to make their summer trip to "Sochi Park" as pleasant and eventful as possible.

Moscow's Begovaya city railway station under construction is more than 62 percent complete

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The construction of the Moscow city railway station Begovaya continues on the border of the Khoroshevsky and Presnensky districts. As of today, its readiness exceeds 62 percent. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.

In 2019, Begovaya station became part of the first Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-1) "Belorussko-Savelovsky" and was improved, but the rapidly growing passenger flow required large-scale reconstruction.

"After the completion of the work, the modern Moscow city station Begovaya will improve transport accessibility for more than 200 thousand residents and those who work in the Begovaya, Khoroshevsky, Presnensky districts. The first stage of construction is almost complete thanks to the round-the-clock work of specialists. Roofing and finishing works are currently underway. The reconstruction of this transport hub also stimulates active residential and non-residential development, and in connection with this, population growth in the surrounding areas. Thus, by 2030, the number of residents and jobs within transport accessibility will increase by 40 percent and will amount to 280 thousand," said Maxim Liksutov.

The construction of the Moscow city railway station began in December 2022. The total development area is 12.2 thousand square meters. The specialists of JSC Russian Railways are reconstructing the complex railway junction in conditions of dense urban development and intensive railway traffic. The work is carried out using a unique technology without stopping transport communications.

After the reconstruction is completed, the station will have two coastal and one island platforms, as well as a three-story heated overground concourse. It will be connected underground to the existing western vestibule of the Begovaya metro station.

Today, active construction of platforms and an above-ground vestibule is underway. Specialists have already completed the installation of the roof over the escalators and concourse and are covering these areas with a fire-retardant composition. A vertical folded roof is being installed over the platforms. In addition, their glazing and installation of lighting systems are ongoing. This year, it is planned to fully complete finishing work on the platforms, the installation of the facade of the bridge section and the southern vestibule of the concourse.

The next stage will see the construction of a northern vestibule, which will be integrated with the metro. The transfer will take place in a warm circuit and will take no more than one minute. In addition, a cross-platform transfer between the Moscow Central Diameters will appear here.

Reconstruction work has begun at the Pererva MCD-2 station

After the completion of the work, a modern Moscow hub will appear on the site of the outdated station, which no longer met the standards of capital transport. It will unite MCD-1, MCD-4 and the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya metro line, as well as ground transport.

An overground pedestrian crossing over the tracks of the fourth Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-4) is planned to be built in the Western Administrative District by the end of 2030. This was reported by the head of the capital's Department of Construction of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure Vasily Desyatkov.

"A new safe pedestrian crossing over the MCD-4 tracks will appear in the Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye area. It will be located between buildings 10 and 12 on Bolshaya Ochakovskaya Street. The overground crossing will be 135 meters long. For the convenience of pedestrians, including people with limited mobility, two staircases with ramps and elevators are provided. According to the Moscow City Targeted Investment Program, the design and construction of the facility are planned for 2026-2030," noted Vasily Desyatkov.

A state contract has been concluded with the city for the execution of design and survey work. The project is currently being developed.

The project implementation will provide safe pedestrian communication in the Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye area, divided by the railway tracks of the fourth Moscow Central Diameter. This will improve pedestrian accessibility for residents of nearby residential complexes.

Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin announced the opening pedestrian crossing across the MCD-2 tracks in Shcherbinka.
