Vladivostok, Kazan, Kaliningrad entered the top cities visited by foreigners for the summer season of 2025

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Foreign tourists continue to actively plan summer trips to the capital of Russia: according to the online hotel and apartment booking service Ostrovok, the number of bookings in Russian accommodation facilities for the summer season of 2025 has increased by 10% compared to last summer. At the same time, Moscow remains the most popular destination among foreign guests: it accounts for every second booking from foreigners in the country.

The top 10 destinations popular with foreign tourists this summer include Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Sochi, Irkutsk, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, and Nizhny Novgorod.

"Inbound tourism is an important driver of the economy. The 10% growth in bookings for the summer of 2025 shows that interest in Russia remains, and the capital remains the main magnet for foreign guests. But to maintain this momentum, we need to take into account the requests of foreign guests: transfers, excursions in their language, services adapted for different cultures. This encourages hotels and restaurants to improve their service standards, which ultimately makes the country even more competitive in the international arena. Thus, the development of inbound tourism is not only the country's image, but also a real economic benefit for the city and its residents," said Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.

The main flow of inbound tourism to Moscow in the summer of 2025 is formed by guests from Belarus, India, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, China, Turkey, Oman, the UAE, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Darya Kochetkova, Managing Director of the Ostrovok Group of Companies, noted: "Trips to Russia are becoming easier and more accessible for foreign tourists: for example, the visa regime with Oman was recently lifted, and direct flights to Saudi Arabia are expected to start in the fall. Improving the transport network and easing the visa regime are key factors in the growth of inbound tourism, and we expect the number of bookings from tourists from these countries to continue to grow."

The most popular hotels among foreign guests are four-star hotels: they account for more than a third of all bookings (35%). Three-star hotels (19%) and five-star hotels (15%) are also popular.

"In order to efficiently handle the growing flow of foreign tourists, it is important to understand that their requests differ from the needs of our domestic tourists. For example, among the most frequent requests from foreign guests are the organization of transfers from/to the airport, accommodation in multi-room rooms for large families, excursion services in the native language, as well as compliance of hotels with Muslim Friendly, China Friendly, India Friendly standards. This includes halal or adapted food, the presence of staff who speak foreign languages, and taking into account the cultural characteristics of guests. Knowing this, representatives of the hospitality industry should adapt their service and be ready to provide the appropriate services," commented Daria Kochetkova.

The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has completed accepting applications for subsidizing SMEs’ costs of placing securities

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Ministry of Economic Development (Russia) – Ministry of Economic Development (Russia) –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has completed accepting applications from small and medium-sized businesses as part of the first selection for subsidizing the costs of placing securities on the stock exchange and investment platforms. The program is being implemented with the participation of the Bank of Russia and is aimed at enterprises from the real sector that demonstrate a multiplier effect for the economy as a whole.

"A total of 14 applications from 13 Russian small and medium-sized businesses were submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia for consideration during the first selection under the program. The share of small businesses that submitted applications is 70% of the total number of selection participants. The geography of the participants is Moscow, Penza, Oryol, Chelyabinsk and Nizhny Novgorod regions, the Republic of Tatarstan and Krasnodar Krai," noted Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Tatyana Ilyushnikova.

Most of the applications are related to reimbursement of costs for the placement of bonds, the total nominal volume of which exceeded 1.7 billion rubles. This confirms the demand for government support measures to expand business access to the stock market.

The subsidy can be used to compensate for a number of costs:

— payment of remuneration under agreements on the organization of placement and (or) placement of an issue of shares or bonds;

— payment of remuneration under an agreement on the implementation of rating actions (in the event of assignment of a credit rating to the recipient of a subsidy or the issue of bonds);

— payment of remuneration under an agreement for the provision of services to attract investments;

— payment of remuneration for the services of the registrar under the agreement on registration of the decision to issue shares;

— payment of remuneration under an agreement for the provision of audit or legal services.

"This program allows attracting capital at all stages of enterprise development. For young and small companies, crowdfunding platforms may be the most suitable option, while for more mature companies, it may be entering the stock market. Thus, government support measures cover the entire range of business financing instruments. And the demand for them is growing: since the beginning of the year, SMEs have placed bonds worth 32.2 billion rubles on the stock market alone. We also note the development of equity financing in general, since in the current macroeconomic conditions it allows companies to attract capital without the need for regular payments, such as occurs with a loan," explained Mikhail Mamuta, member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia, Head of the Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Ensuring the Availability of Financial Services.

Key conditions for receiving a subsidy: to be included in the SME register, to operate in priority sectors (manufacturing, transportation and storage, tourism, information and communications, scientific and technical activities, healthcare), to be a small technology company or a subject of creative industries, not to be part of a group of companies with annual revenues exceeding 2 billion rubles. The results of the first selection will be announced in early September.

The program of subsidizing SMEs' costs for the placement of securities is being implemented within the framework of the federal project "Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy". Its goal is to assist companies in attracting financing through stock market mechanisms.

Russia Presents Experience of Supporting Women in Digital Economy at APEC Forum

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Representatives of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation took part in expert meetings and high-level events at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Seoul. The delegations discussed issues of increasing the representation of women in economic processes, prospects for developing cooperation in science, technology and innovation, as well as structural reforms to increase business activity in the region.

As part of the high-level dialogue on women's economic empowerment, the parties considered the current demographic transition and the increasing burden it places on women to care for family members. They also discussed the region's persistent wage gaps, women's access to capital, technical skills and market niches.

The Korean presidency paid special attention to the role of women in digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. “In this regard, we shared, firstly, the objectives of the national AI development strategy and the corresponding federal project, as well as an assessment of the current and projected contribution of AI to the Russian GDP,” said Deputy Director of the Department Evgeniya Drozhashchikh. “The partners responded particularly positively to the results of a survey among medium and large businesses (VK Predict and the consulting agency Prognosis. — Ed.), according to which 70% of companies are already using AI in their work.”

The Russian side presented measures to support women interested in mastering IT skills: the Women in IT project, offering free training in digital competencies; the Digital Professions and Ready for Digital initiatives, which have proven to be in demand among women on maternity leave.

“To demonstrate the real involvement of Russian women in digital transformation, we also provided several business cases from participants of the Skolkovo Foundation,” shared Evgenia Drozhashchikh.

Thus, Diana Khasanova's BRAINPHONE project provides diagnostics and monitoring of Parkinson's disease by voice based on artificial intelligence. The Third Opinion platform launched by Anna Meshcheryakova provides an intelligent video analytics service for medical institutions. Svetlana Perminova's UJIN solution allows for the formation of a building's digital infrastructure, optimizing processes and the use of energy and time resources.

During the meetings, the Russian side presented projects implemented within the framework of APEC in the field of supporting women in creative industries, satellite monitoring of climate-active substances, and development of tourism in rural areas. At the same time, current initiatives were presented to unlock the potential of AI in the creative economy, mathematical modeling for sustainable development, management of space museum complexes, and tourism education. Russia invited the meeting participants to join the 10th international competition of women's entrepreneurial initiatives APEC BEST Award.

"It is noteworthy that during the discussion we practically generated interest in the startup agenda among economies. Previously, such small technology companies were perceived as an existing phenomenon in APEC, but were never the focus of individual initiatives or plenary sessions," shared Evgeniya Drozhashchikh. "However, after the presentation of experience in supporting an effective startup ecosystem, developing legislation, a registry approach and simplified access to government support measures, establishing international ties within BRICS and the SCO, APEC partners became excited about the topic. At the next stage, we plan to formulate a conceptual note and offer Asia-Pacific countries a thematic roadmap."

Following the meeting, the delegations agreed on a joint statement reflecting common priorities for the region at the intersection of the women's agenda and the goals of sustainable, inclusive, innovative development.

Students from India about the summer school on endodontics at RUDN

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Peoples'Friendship University of Russia –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

How root canals are structured, how to extract pins and what methods of treating pulpitis exist – fourth-year dental students from India learned all this at RUDN. They took part in a summer school on endodontics in English.

The classes were conducted at the Department of Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases of the Medical Institute by Associate Professor Angela Brago and Doctor of Medical Sciences Svetlana Razumova.

The participants of the school were students of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS):

Singh Pranay Kumar; Sirohi Tripti; Zehra Tahsin; Hussain Zoya; Kataria Sunidhi; Kumar Paritosh.

They were accompanied by Dr. Rana Anju, Lecturer, Department of Periodontology, MRIIRS.

Balance of study and experience

The program of classes for foreign students was intensive and included such topics as the anatomy of root canals and their instrumental treatment, irrigation, methods of pulpitis treatment and tactics of retreatment (removal of pins, instrument fragments, treatment of perforations). Interactive lectures were supported by VR trainings and practical classes.

"What I remember most was the perfect balance between learning and experiencing. The endodontic treatment practice was incredibly useful – especially practicing each stage of root canal work under the guidance of experts. We also got to see Moscow: Red Square and traditional Russian cuisine made the trip unforgettable!" – Tripti Sirohi, 4th year student of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies.

According to the girl, the most interesting thing about the summer school for her was the preparation of the root canal orifice, as it helped the student better understand the anatomy and importance of proper access to the canals. And the most difficult was working with rotary instruments (they are used to process hard and soft tissues of the maxillofacial region), because precision, patience and strict control of one's actions were required. However, by the end of the course, the student was already much more confident in using the instruments.

“One of the most valuable pieces of advice I received during the summer school was ‘Never rush in endodontics, respect the canal anatomy and always work in isolation’. It reminded me how important precision and sterility are at every stage. The instructor also emphasized that calmness and a systematic approach are the keys to success in root canal treatment,” Tripti Sirohi, a fourth-year student at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies.

Help and attention of teachers

The Indian students were touched by the way the RUDN teachers treated them. They noted that the teachers were attentive and did everything to help the children understand the topic being studied.

“The teachers took note of our doubts and did their best to clear them!” – Sunidhi Kataria, 4th year student, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies.

According to Sunidhi, during school she easily figured out how to widen root canals and obturation (filling). But there were also difficulties – the future dentist did not immediately cope with the application of a cofferdam (an elastic scarf made of latex or polyisoprene, which is used to isolate a tooth) using clasps (parts of a removable dental prosthesis). But thanks to the help of teachers, she learned this procedure. The girl is especially grateful to Associate Professor Angela Brago, who explained everything to the students in a very accessible way.

"The most valuable piece of advice from educators that I will remember forever is, "First diagnosis, then treatment plan." Before making a decision, you need to study all the diagnostic data. And not in all cases, root canal treatment will be successful – it is important to preserve the tooth and the viability of its pulp (soft tissue that contains the nerves of the tooth, blood and lymphatic vessels)," – Sunidhi Kataria, a fourth-year student of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies.

"Point of Support" of the Polytechnic University: Psychological Support in a Modern University

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Lost in the stream of problems? Don't know who to turn to for help? We answer: Politekhnicheskaya Street 29, lit. O (Polytech Tower). The SPbPU "Tochka Opory" Psychological Support Center (PSC) operates here. A team of psychologists works to ensure that you can always get support in a difficult situation.

Why do universities need psychologists?

Firstly, it is supposed to be that way. In 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Education developed a concept for developing a network of psychological services in universities. According to the departments' recommendations, psychologists should carry out educational, psychocorrectional, diagnostic and advisory work with all participants in the educational process. Psychological and social well-being is part of the youth policy in the country and, in particular, in universities.

Secondly, life inside the university is not a vacuum, there are enough tense situations, challenges and problems. Some students have difficulties with adaptation, some are overly nervous before exams, somewhere there are conflicts in the team, someone has difficulty making decisions, and there are also overloads from combining work and study, and much more.

Finally, psychology is becoming more accessible through self-help books and materials, and the demand for them is growing.

What questions do people ask the Center’s psychologists?

"Tochka Opory" has been operating for three and a half years now within the structure of the Polytechnic Youth Policy Department. Its audience is students, employees and teachers, approximately 40-50 thousand people.

In 2024, the Center's psychologists conducted 931 individual consultations. In just over half of 2025, specialists have already conducted more than 670 consultations. The Center notes that the overwhelming majority (97%) of those who applied are students and postgraduates, while employees and teachers make up about 3%.

What worries people the most?

Relationships with others — 37%. Polytechnic students most often come to psychologists to sort out their relationships with partners, parents, and to establish communication with peers, friends, or work colleagues. A large number of social groups and regular contacts are inevitable in the university environment (and in life), which is why the ability to build relationships is a necessary skill for every person.

Anxiety and fears — 26%. The Center's specialists note experiences due to loneliness, changes, illnesses, studies, personal development and much more. Working with these difficulties is not the easiest and fastest process, but the result significantly increases overall well-being. To help those who have applied, the Center's specialists use elements of cognitive behavioral therapy: consultative work involves working through states, thoughts and feelings both at a meeting with a specialist and in the form of homework and practices.

Self-esteem and self-confidence – 12%.

In 2025, issues of emotional state and stress, personal identity and relationships, and studies occupied men and women approximately equally. At the same time, men addressed questions on “Productivity and self-management” three times more often, while women with exactly the same proportion prevailed in the category “Psychological trauma, loss, grief”. However, psychologists perceive these facts with caution.

In fact, although men and women have a number of unique features, they are in many ways equally susceptible to common crisis situations and experiences. It is possible to talk about the specificity of appeals depending on gender with a number of reservations, since such conclusions require a more thorough analysis, – says psychologist of the TsPS "Tochka Opory" Andrey Kuzmin.

Psychologists remind us that difficulties and experiences are a natural part of our lives, they can occur in anyone and at any age, regardless of status, gender and other characteristics. If you are unable to cope with the difficulties on your own, it makes sense to contact a specialist who will be able to clarify the causes, alleviate the symptoms and work out new behavior patterns together with you. If the difficulties go beyond the scope of psychological practice, then experts will recommend seeking help from specialized specialists: cardiologists, neurologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists.

Not just consultations

If you think that a psychologist's work is limited to the walls of a consultation room, you will be only partly right. In addition, our specialists conduct discussion clubs, support groups, thematic trainings and much more.

Individual consultations are an opportunity to support a person during an acute period or to start a process of fundamental changes, starting a targeted work from the deepest layers of the psyche. However, at a certain point, it makes sense to supplement such work with group formats, in which a person learns to see himself from the outside, practices interaction skills and plays out different situations in a safe environment, says Daria Popova, a psychologist at the TsPS Tochka Opory.

In addition, psychologists participate in university events. For example, on May 17 in the Polytechnic Park during the family festival "Beauty-day" The Center's staff held a "Plasticine Date" class for parents and children.

Recently, we have noted a growing interest in art therapy practices. For example, the event “Plasticine Date” has become a successful format for joint creativity of children and parents. In addition, I managed to open a workshop on neurographics – this is a space where participants can reveal their emotions and experiences through drawings, abstractions and free lines, – shared Veronika Sudakova, a psychologist at the TsPS “Tochka Opory”.

The Center's specialists are also experimenting with new types of activities. This year, psychologist Anastasia Markevich launched the online marathon "Anxiety under control" on the Telegram channel for the first time.

"This is a unique opportunity to bring useful self-help practices to a wider audience," said Anastasia. "The idea was to share practical developments on the topic of growing anxiety in a remote format. We have not had such a practice before and, judging by the coverage and feedback from the participants, we successfully managed to implement such a mini-project, which I am very happy about!"

In the same format, in August, psychologist Daria Popova launched a 24-day online intensive course “Fight Back from Stress” with elements of gamification.

The Center's psychologists regularly improve their qualifications and attend specialized events, such as the All-Russian conference "Personnel work and labor protection in scientific and educational organizations of higher education", the All-Russian seminar-meeting of psychologists of educational organizations of the higher education system.

In 2025, the employees of the CPS became members of the St. Petersburg Psychological Society (SPbPO) and received membership cards at the Faculty of Psychology of St. Petersburg State University. Membership provides an opportunity to participate in events to keep abreast of current trends in psychological science and practice, have affiliation and the status of a specialist.

Communication with representatives of psychological services of other universities is also part of the activities of the Center's employees: this summer, the Polytechnic University hosted a supervision for psychologists from St. Petersburg universities, during which the Center's employees, together with their colleagues, discussed the most difficult therapeutic cases and shared their experiences.

Attending conferences, supporting the specialized community and sharing experiences with colleagues are extremely important for us, since the work of a psychologist implies regular contact with the difficult states of those who seek help. At events and meetings, we can discuss our practice, debate, learn new things and spend time in the company of like-minded people, restoring our own resources, – notes Anna Filimonova, a psychologist at the TsPS "Tochka Opory".

The Center’s specialists are currently planning to search for new ideas in working with different groups of applicants.

During the existence of our service, we have accumulated rich experience in consulting and working with various categories of requests. Having started with a small team of psychologists, by now the Center has developed into a full-fledged team of specialists and has all the necessary resources to provide support to everyone who feels the need for it. Our mission is to promote the well-being of our beloved Polytechnic University and the entire society as a whole, – says Anna Kalugina, Director of the Center for Social Support "Tochka Opory".
