A pedestrian square and a turning circle will be built on Akademika Korolev Street as part of a project to extend the tram line in the North-Eastern Administrative District of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Vladimir Efimov.

"Work has begun on the design of the extension section of the tram line on Akademika Korolev Street to the Ostankino station of the third Moscow Central Diameter (MCD). It will stretch for 1.6 kilometers and will pass by the Ostankino TV center and along Dubovaya Roshcha Street with a subsequent exit to the station of the third Moscow Central Diameter. The project provides for the creation of a pedestrian square, a turning circle, a traction substation building and a terminal station near it," Vladimir Efimov noted.

The new section of the tram line will have five stops. All stops will be equipped with ramps for passengers with limited mobility.

According to the head of the capital's Department of Construction of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure Vasily Desyatkov, it is also planned to reconstruct and build sections of Dubovaya Roshcha Street with a total length of 610 meters. The opening of the new line will provide residents of the Ostankino District with an alternative route for high-speed ground transport, significantly improve the connectivity of territories and allow for the redistribution of traffic flows. The work is expected to be completed in 2027.

"This project will create a convenient transfer from MCD-3 to trams to VDNKh for more than 700 thousand residents, reduce travel time for 18 thousand passengers and relieve the VDNKh metro station by five percent. The new tram line to the MCD-3 Ostankino station will improve transport accessibility of the television center and the entire north-eastern part of the city," emphasized the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry

Maxim Liksutov.

Goodness in Action: How Moscow NGOs Support SVO Fighters and Residents of New Territories

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Camouflage nets and boxes of medicine for special military operation (SVO) fighters, toys for little residents of new territories — the capital's non-profit organizations (NPOs) help not only in Moscow, but also beyond its borders. Their work is not abstract words, but concrete actions. These are kilometers of travel and tons of collected cargo with equipment, food, books and clothes. And most importantly — the warmth that people who find themselves in a variety of situations receive.

We tell you how Moscow NGOs support fighters on the front lines, residents of new and border regions, and pets.

Joining forces

For over two years, the international charity foundation "Unity of Nations" has been supporting the elderly, people with disabilities, orphans and participants in a special military operation. They purchase and send equipment, technology and uniforms for soldiers: helmets, gear, quadcopters, electronic warfare equipment, radio stations and drone detection detectors.

"UAZ vehicles, trench ovens, trailers and 250 cubic meters of wood for building dugouts – field shelters – have already been sent to the front lines. Now they have announced a collection for enduro motorcycles – the soldiers also really need them," says Oleg Korolev, director of the Unity of Nations Foundation.

The foundation's employees also hold open master classes in the capital, where anyone can take part in creating camouflage nets. Registration for them is available on the website "Mosvolonter".

"Our master classes are always in demand. They bring together people of all ages. Often up to 15 people come to one master class. There are regular participants – elderly people, children, students, school teachers, college teachers, working people. And at our meetings, participants can write letters or make postcards to the SVO fighters. We send them to the front line along with other cargo," Oleg Korolev shares.

The foundation's employees also provide assistance to residents of new and border territories. Together with volunteers, they send clothes, toys and stationery to children from orphanages in Belgorod, Donetsk and Lugansk.

"Together we are doing a common cause. It is always difficult to go through difficulties alone, but together, united, we can achieve any goal," the mos.ru interlocutor emphasizes.

Help for those who are waiting for it

The participants of the SVO, as well as residents of new and border regions, are also supported by the all-Russian public organization "Federation of the Union of Cossacks". More than four thousand tons of aid have already been sent to various cities – from Kursk to settlements in the Kherson region. The organization supports social institutions and helps those in need.

"We give school uniforms to children from orphanages and boarding schools, clothes and household appliances to adults, and building materials to restore destroyed houses. We send bandages and blankets, medicines, stretchers, wheelchairs and carts to hospitals, and equipment to soldiers. More than 80 vehicles have already been transferred to the SVO zone," says Vitaly Shcherbin, head of the main department of the Federation of the Union of Cossacks.

In addition, the organization also supports pets left without shelter. Volunteers deliver food to dogs and cats in shelters in Lugansk and Donetsk. Help is also sent to people who care for homeless animals, find them and place them in families.

The Federation of the Union of Cossacks also raises caring people. The organization's employees support young volunteers who collect humanitarian aid. The most active are awarded commemorative signs. Award ceremonies are held for schoolchildren throughout Russia. In addition to young helpers, public awards are also ceremoniously presented to veterans, SVO participants, and volunteers.

In addition, thematic meetings are held for the younger generation, where they talk about patriotism, history and continuity. They are organized in schools and higher educational institutions of Moscow and other cities of Russia.

"It is important to tell children about memorable dates, explain why this or that event happened and how it affected the world. And also talk to them about help. Support is necessary at all times. It always receives a response and gratitude. It is important for the fighters defending the country to understand that they are loved and waited for at home and that there are those nearby who will come to the rescue. Even small but necessary support always finds feedback, and those who are ready to provide it are welcomed as family," says Vitaly Shcherbin.

"Mosvolonter" invites you to master classes on weaving camouflage netsHow residents of the capital help homeless animals of BelgorodMoscow volunteers have helped collect over 137 tons of animal feed and recyclable materials since the beginning of the year

Psychological support and care

The charitable foundation for helping families with children in difficult life situations, "Everyone is Important", was established in 2020. It provides psychological and legal support to large families, families of SVO participants, low-income and those who have lost their jobs, as well as people with special needs. The foundation also supports SVO fighters. Aid is collected according to a list and sent to the front lines once a month.

"We send a variety of things – from clothing and medicine to construction materials (nails, screwdrivers) for defensive dugouts. We also deliver equipment – generators, chargers, radios. Volunteers, charity groups and relatives of soldiers who went to the SVO help us in our work," says Elena Glebova, director of the "Everyone is Important" foundation.

Since the beginning of the SVO, the foundation's employees have also been working with wards of orphanages from Donetsk, Lugansk, Stakhanov and Makeyevka. Volunteer psychologists come there with humanitarian aid and conduct rehabilitation programs for the children.

"First of all, we work with the employees of orphanages, give them recommendations, tell them how to conduct classes. And we conduct games and talk with the children to rehabilitate them a little. As a result, even those who were closed and did not make contact are now always looking forward to a new meeting – they hug us and arrange tea parties. I remember once in one orphanage we met 16-year-old Misha. At first, it seemed that we were not interesting to him at all. And now, if we do not come, he asks: "Why weren't you there last time?"," Elena Glebova shares.

The children in orphanages are also helped with things – clothes, toys and stationery. Often they bring creative sets with which children learn to draw, embroider and make mosaic pictures. The children give their finished works to the foundation's employees. And they also bring sweets for the children and teenagers.

"Children are always very happy to be cared for. You can see how their mood immediately improves, how they change in just a few weeks. And such results are the strongest motivation for us to continue our work," the mos.ru interlocutor emphasizes.

Good is on the way

The social assistance center for people “Kilometers of Good Deeds” began its journey with tourist car trips around the country and in four years has grown into a large team ready to help everyone who needs it.

"We traveled a lot with our large families and friends. Over time, we began to pay attention to the problems that parents like us face in small towns. We began to help, many volunteers have more than 10 years of such experience. That's how our center appeared," says Lidiya Martynova, director of the "Kilometers of Good Deeds" center.

The center's employees learn about where and who needs help from fellow volunteers or directly from those in need. Applications are accepted on social networks. Based on them, lists of necessary items are compiled and prepared for shipment. Often, the employees themselves deliver humanitarian aid to new and border territories. And in some cities, they organize mobile points near churches, where those in need can go for food and clothing.

"Over the course of several years, we have received a variety of requests. At first, they even asked to simply pass on sweets. Now, however, office supplies for September 1 and clothing for residents of all ages are in demand. In addition, products such as eggs, fish, and chicken are needed. There is also a shortage of children's literature – the children keep the books they receive on the most prominent shelf for many years as a valuable gift," shares Lidiya Martynova.

In addition, aid is sent to hospitals and the SVO zone. Drones, car repair tools, camouflage nets, blankets and underwear are purchased for the fighters. Medicines are also delivered.

"We adhere to the principle of helping with all our strength, because much depends on the personal participation of each person. And recognition and a sense of pride in their actions become motivation for volunteers to continue. The main thing is to show that no one will be left alone and there is always support nearby. There are many good people and many who really sincerely want to help. Many simply do not know that such an opportunity exists," the director of the center notes.

Everyone can contribute and support those who need it. This is possible with the help of charity service on the mos.ru portal. To do this, you need to select one or more NPOs and make a transfer. You can make a donation by selecting a specific program, and for those who find it difficult to make a choice, there is the "Help Everyone" option. Then the payment will be divided equally between all the charitable programs in the category.

The city continues to update and improve the capital's metro trains

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Since 2010, the share of new rolling stock in the Moscow Metro has increased sixfold, from about 13 percent to more than 77 percent, and continues to grow. Today, the capital has the highest rate of train renewal compared to metros in other European countries and the United States. In addition, metro trains are now upgraded every two to four years, faster than in Soviet times, when this was done once every decade.

"The Moscow Metro is the city's main transport artery. On a weekday, more than 8.2 million trips are made here. On behalf of Sergei Sobyanin, we regularly modernize the cars of the capital's metro: at present, 22.5 percent of the rolling stock fleet remains to be updated. Already next year, the replacement of trains on the Zamoskvoretskaya line will be completed. It will be served by the "Moscow-2024" series and cars of an even more modern modification. At present, about 300 cars have been updated on the Zamoskvoretskaya line, which is considered one of the most popular in the Moscow metro. We plan that by 2030 there will be no lines without modern trains, including the rolling stock on the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line, which will be completely updated," said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Maxim Liksutov.

Currently, there are almost 6.8 thousand cars in the capital's metro. Since the beginning of the year, the rolling stock fleet has been replenished with 168 trains of the modern "Moscow-2024" series, developed by domestic specialists.

By 2030, the Moscow Metro fleet will increase by 17 percent.

There are 23 electric depots operating daily to service the metro rolling stock. They employ 14,000 people, including 5,500 drivers. The depots use the most modern equipment to perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on all types of trains, diagnose systems and equipment, and wash and clean the trains before sending them to the line. More than 4,600 new cars of the capital's metro are serviced under a life cycle contract: the manufacturer is responsible for their technical condition for 30 years.

Moscow Mayor: Domestic equipment helps develop the transport systemSergei Sobyanin: Rudnevo Metro Depot Turns Six

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2025, the Moscow Government and JSC Transmashholding signed the world's largest contract for the supply of new trains. Over the next two years, the capital's metro will receive more than 700 Moscow-2026 cars. They will carry passengers on the Zamoskvoretskaya and Troitskaya lines, and may also be used on other lines in the future. Last year, the capital's metro received 36 Moscow-2024 trains.

Sobyanin: The first driverless train will appear in the Moscow metro by the end of 2026

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Unmanned rail transport will be the first to be developed. The first unmanned tram in Moscow is planned to be launched this fall, and in five years two thirds of trams will be unmanned. About this Sergei Sobyanin said in an interview "Komsomolskaya Pravda".

"I believe that sooner or later all transport will be unmanned. Not in a year or two, but in decades. At the same time, unmanned rail transport will be the first to develop," said Sergei Sobyanin.

The next stage, according to him, will be driverless metro trains.

"Our train frequency is the highest in the world. It is very difficult to maintain these 90 seconds of clock-like movement. But we will solve this. We will start testing the first driverless train at the end of the year," the Moscow Mayor specified.

Unmanned transport undergoes three levels of testing: the first – without passengers, the second – with passengers, but in the presence of a driver who is nearby and provides insurance, and the third – with passengers and without a driver.

Before September 1, more than 10 thousand “Caution, children!” signs were placed on the capital’s roads.

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In anticipation of Knowledge Day, specialists from the city services complex have installed more than 10,000 duplicate signs “Caution, children!” on the capital’s roads. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Petr Biryukov.

"Traditionally, with the beginning of a new school year, the number of children and teenagers on the streets of the city increases, so before September 1, work was carried out to update the road markings near schools, kindergartens, cultural and leisure centers, libraries and sports complexes. This year, over 10 thousand "Caution, children!" signs were applied, which duplicate the "Children" road sign on the roadway," noted Petr Biryukov.

The main purpose of the additional markings is to warn the driver that in this area they need to be prepared for the sudden appearance of a child on the road. This means that they need to slow down and be extremely careful.

The "Caution, Children!" marking is applied manually with cold plastic – it is more durable, does not require preliminary heating and therefore does not deform during work. The material contains special glass beads that enhance the reflection of light. This increases the visibility of the marking and makes traffic on the roads safer.

Road marking work was carried out mainly at night, which required partially blocking traffic.

The city will install more than 56 thousand swings, benches and other small architectural forms

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

In 2025, 56,879 small architectural forms (SAF) will be installed in the capital during improvement works.

Almost 10 thousand pieces of equipment for children of different ages will be installed on children's playgrounds – these are playgrounds, various types of swings, slides, balance beams, sandboxes, climbing frames, as well as other elements for games and development of young Muscovites.

More than three thousand exercise machines for various muscle groups, workout complexes and other equipment will appear on the city’s sports grounds.

"The largest number of small architectural forms is street furniture. Benches of various designs, sun loungers, pergolas and urns are placed both on iconic sites and in courtyards, on the territories of educational institutions and in other public spaces. In total, more than 20 thousand benches and 21 thousand urns will appear there," she said.

Elmira Sultanova, deputy head of the capital's Department of Capital Repairs.

One of the most striking and interesting examples is the improvement of the ecological park "Severnoye Butovo" with a total area of 18.58 hectares. 472 small architectural forms were installed here.

The sports grounds already have 85 pieces of equipment. These are the Ninja sports and gymnastics complex, workout complexes, exercise machines for all muscle groups, including the chest, back, and shoulder muscles. In addition, the grounds have been equipped with canopies so that you can exercise in any weather.

For children of different ages, 28 play complexes, trampolines, play modules for climbing, swings, carousels and balance beams were installed.

The parks now have benches, bins, pergola swings, chess tables, and a dog park with everything needed for four-legged friends. A total of 359 pieces of equipment were installed here.

Among the landscaped courtyards, the site on Tallinskaya Street near house 13, buildings 2, 3 and 4 stands out. Here, an area of 5.37 hectares is being put in order. Workers are currently finishing installing 83 small architectural forms. The courtyard will feature a sports complex, 19 children's play complexes, rocking chairs, climbing frames, swings, carousels, hills, trampolines and play panels, as well as 63 units of street furniture – benches, urns, canopies and bench-swings.

A sports cluster is being set up on Yasnogorskaya Street (building 7). The total area of the landscaped territory is 4.2 hectares. 24 sports equipment will be installed here — workout complexes and exercise machines for different muscle groups. 15 small architectural forms will appear on the playgrounds — these are seesaws, sand yards, swings, carousels and the "Airship" play complex, which has no analogues in the city. 102 pieces of street furniture will also be installed here, including benches, trash bins and chess tables.

A yard with a modern playground, a well-equipped sports area, a park with beautiful and comfortable street furniture is an important part of the local infrastructure. At the same time, each element must be maintained in good condition and repaired in a timely manner.

Elmira Sultanova added that the program's special feature is the contracts with equipment manufacturers, which provide not only for delivery and installation, but also for subsequent seven-year maintenance and repair of small architectural forms. This is a long-term cooperation between the city and manufacturers, in which the contractor is responsible for the quality of its equipment.

In preparation for the transition to the new procurement system, a single catalogue of small architectural forms of manufacturers was created. New products are regularly added to it, including scientific playgrounds and innovative forms.

Since 2022, the city has been using a pricing mechanism based on expertise and has introduced a unified system for managing the purchase of equipment for improvement facilities and monitoring this process. Now it has been possible to completely replace imported products with Russian products without trade markups. This allows saving budget funds.

During this time, 189.2 thousand small architectural forms were installed as part of the improvement of objects of prefectures of administrative districts. This year, it is planned to install 56.8 thousand small architectural forms.
