Students from the State University of Management won a prize in the scientific and technical project competition at the XXII International Automotive Scientific Forum (IASF) "Innovations in Motion: Promising Automotive Platform Technologies," which took place on October 15 and 16 at the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation, FSUE "NAMI."

Let us recall that young scientists from the State University of Management previously presented their reports at the MANF.

The Forum included a competition of scientific and technical projects for 10th-11th grade students, undergraduate and graduate students, and young professionals.

A team of students from the Institute of Industrial Management at the State University of Management (GUU) in the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program, consisting of Yulia Khramova, Irina Pavlova, Leonid Filatov, Sarmat Kuchiev, and Mikhail Roev, won third place in the Best Student Research Paper category.

The bronze-winning team expresses special gratitude to the project's scientific director, Professor Alexey Stepanov of the Department of Transport Complex Management. His professionalism, mentorship, and support were integral to this success.

A week ago, colleagues from Tomsk State University visited us and held a captivating master class for students of the First Management Faculty. Together, they saved the planet Evrion and learned how to create high-tech startup projects.

This is a platform where student ideas become real social projects, where those who truly change the society around them—active, creative, and caring people—meet.

The competition accepts projects from individuals and teams of up to three people in the following categories:

research project, business project (startup project), social project, technological project (useful invention), media project

The qualifying round of the St. Petersburg Case Championship in Public Administration took place at the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics, and Trade of the Polytechnic University.

The Case Championship is included ininteraction plan The Civil Service and Personnel Policy Committee of the St. Petersburg Governor's Administration and SPbPU envisages the development of new forms of cooperation between the university and government agencies. This partnership is developing innovative information channels that highlight the specifics of the state civil service. Students are actively involved in implementing real-life projects commissioned by city government agencies.

This is the second time the Polytechnic University has hosted the championship: last year, it hosted its finals, which helped strengthen the partnership with the committee. The new season of the case championship aims to develop students' practical skills, foster their analytical thinking, and prepare them for solving real-world management problems.

More than 70 students from the Polytechnic University, representing 14 student teams, took part in the final round of the case championship.

A total of 25 applications were submitted for participation in the selection round from teams from IPMET, GI, and IMMIT, representing a wide range of training areas—from innovation and management to economic security and advertising and public relations.

Vladimir Shchepinin, Director of the Institute of Mechanics, Economics, and Technology, opened the event: "The idea for a case championship was born two years ago, and the first experience has already demonstrated high interest from students and a creative approach to solving problems in the fields of tourism and culture."

Igor Murashev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Civil Service and Personnel Policy of the St. Petersburg Governor's Administration, also welcomed the participants: "This championship is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in teamwork, project work, public speaking, and real-world analytics. These skills cannot be acquired solely in lectures—they are developed through practice."

The theme of the 2025 selection round is: “Development of mechanisms and activities to engage young people (14–22 years old) in the active use of the Pushkin Map in St. Petersburg.”

The teams presented practical solutions to the expert committee aimed at increasing the interest of young St. Petersburg residents in the city's cultural events.

Participants also participated in a thematic quiz on public and municipal administration, prepared by Grigory Kulkaev, assistant professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration. This interactive quiz tested their knowledge, discussed relevant topics, and inspired them to study public service.

The participants presented their project solutions to an expert committee, which included leading Polytechnic professors in the field of "State and Municipal Administration," as well as representatives of city authorities:

Following the qualifying round, the following teams received a winner's diploma and a ticket to the final:

"Bureaucrats with IQ" (students majoring in Public and Municipal Administration); "Orion" (a team from the Case Club SPbPU student association).

Participating in the case championship was a vibrant and invaluable experience for our team. The task of engaging young people with the Pushkin Map proved truly engaging and inspiring. We approached the task with enthusiasm, striving to come up with ideas that could be implemented. The championship atmosphere was very pleasant and energizing. We are delighted to be part of such an event and grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to showcase our talent, share experiences, and contribute to the development of cultural initiatives for young people," noted Orion team captain Daniil Plushenko.

The following teams were awarded prize-winning diplomas:

"Fun" (fourth-year students, Management major); "Presidential Regiment" (team of the student association "Public Administration Laboratory").

Maxim Ivanov, the organizer of the qualifying round and Deputy Director for Promising Projects and Youth Policy at the Institute of Mechanics and Technology (IPMET), summarized the results: The St. Petersburg Case Championship in Public Administration is more than just a competition; it's an opportunity for students to truly immerse themselves in the real-world challenges we face every day. What's important here isn't theory, but the ability to think outside the box, to see the problem from the inside, to ask honest questions, and to find practical solutions. We're not looking for templates—they've already been there. We need fresh ideas, unexpected approaches, and the vibrant energy of the younger generation. The key is to not be afraid, to speak up, to try, to make mistakes, and to move forward again. Because this experience is priceless.

On October 16, 2025, a meeting of the Public Council under the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation was held, attended by Vladimir Stroyev, Rector of the State University of Management.

The meeting was attended by: Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, his First Deputy Maxim Kolesnikov, Deputies Tatyana Ilyushnikova and Denis Tyupyshev, Chairman of the All-Russian Public Organization "Business Russia" Kirill Nikitin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin, and other experts.

The agenda items concerned fine-tuning the federal investment tax deduction mechanism, preparing the bylaws for the Federal Law "On Certain Issues Regulating the Platform Economy in the Russian Federation," and implementing the State Program "Economic Development and Innovative Economy" with planning for 2026–2028.

During the meeting, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov noted that, thanks to the joint efforts of the Government and the Bank of Russia, inflation is gradually slowing. The downside of this process is high borrowing costs and additional pressure on companies' financial health. Therefore, the key task today is to balance supply and demand in the economy.

Maxim Reshetnikov indicated that the work is focused on three areas. The first is ensuring macroeconomic stability, which involves interaction with the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance on monetary and fiscal policy. The second is supporting industries, primarily mechanical engineering and industrial production. And the third is developing the institutional environment, including property rights and regulation of new economic sectors. All these areas are currently consolidated into two key documents: the National Business Model and the Productivity Improvement Project. Their implementation should be a significant step toward improving the country's economic efficiency, the minister stated.

Polina Dolgorukova, a second-year Design student at the Higher School of Design and Architecture of the Civil Engineering Institute of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, took part in the "Renaissance" scientific and educational expedition in the Ivanovo region.

Polina Dolgorukova's team spent three days working in the city of Plyos, one of the region's key tourist and cultural centers, included in the Golden Ring of Russia route. Situated on the banks of the Volga River, Plyos is known for its architecture, picturesque landscapes, and connections to the work of artist Isaac Levitan.

The expedition participants represented various Russian universities, including the Moscow Institute of Art and Design, the Higher School of Economics, Ivanovo State University, and Ivanovo Polytechnic University. Together, the students studied the urban environment and the local population's lifestyle, conducted sociological research, and asked residents about the symbols and images they associated with Plyos. Based on the collected data, the students developed concepts for modern branded merchandise: tote bags, sweatshirts, t-shirts, postcards, and stickers.

Polina Dolgorukova's team's project, "Plyos Vibe," was recognized by the jury and received a special nomination from the Ivanovo Region Youth Policy Committee.

"This trip was a truly profound experience for me. We spent three days immersed in the atmosphere of Plyos, learning to work with its cultural code and translate impressions into graphic design. It was fascinating to exchange experiences with students from different universities. "Of course, there's room for improvement, but I'm glad I got to be part of this project," Polina shared.

On October 14, the Polytechnic University successfully held an open day for the "Digital Departments. IT Formula. Polytechnic" project. The event brought together over 400 students interested in obtaining additional IT qualifications.

"Digital Departments" are unique professional retraining programs implemented as part of the federal project "Universities for a Generation of Leaders" of the national project "Youth and Children." Over 200 students gathered at the State University of Management's Information Technology Center to meet with technology entrepreneurs.

The speakers were experts from the Project Office for the Development of Youth Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation: — founder, CEO of Impact Lab LLC, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Evgeniya Dmitrieva; — director of SIIDOS LLC, entrepreneur Bogdan Yakobson.

During the event, students learned about the key aspects of launching a startup and what to consider when implementing it. Experts shared their personal success stories and inspired participants to take bold steps into the world of entrepreneurship.

The participants actively asked questions about startups and successfully developing a business strategy, demonstrating the high level of interest and engagement among young people in this topic. The all-Russian conference with international participation, "The XLI Siberian Thermophysical Seminar," was held at the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok technology park. Staff from the SPbPU PhysMech Institute participated.

The seminar has traditionally been held at the S. S. Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1960. It is dedicated to discussing current research results in the fields of thermal physics, energy, energy conservation, power engineering, and other related topics. This year, the seminar was timed to coincide with the 75th birthday of RAS Academician Sergei Alekseenko, Scientific Director of the SB RAS Institute of Thermophysics.

Over 250 scientists representing leading Russian thermophysical research schools gathered to discuss contemporary issues in the physical and numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes. A collection of abstracts will be published following the seminar. At the authors' request, the results presented at the seminar will also be published as full-text articles in a specialized journal collection indexed in international databases.

On the opening day of the seminar, conference guests and participants congratulated Sergey Alekseenko on his anniversary at the plenary session. Nikolai Ivanov, Director of the SPbPU Institute of Physics and Mechanics, read a congratulatory address from Andrey Rudskoy, Rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The address acknowledged the anniversary's contribution to ensuring our country's energy and environmental security and expressed gratitude for his outstanding contribution to the advancement of science.

Nikolai Ivanov presented an oral presentation at the conference, "A Numerical Study of the Conditions for the Formation of Self-Oscillations During the Propagation of Multiple Supply Jets in a Room," in the section "Convective Flows in Single-Phase Media: Intensification of Heat and Mass Transfer." The presentation presented the results of research supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation.

At the "Vortices, Waves, and Turbulence" section, Alexey Abramov, Associate Professor at the Higher School of Applied Mathematics and Computational Physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Mechanics, presented an oral presentation entitled "Application of Machine Learning Methods to Predict Integral Heat Transfer Characteristics in Single-Row Air-Cooled Finned Tube Bundles." The work was also supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation.

In addition to plenary and breakout sessions, the seminar included a tour of the IT SB RAS laboratories and a musical evening in the institute's conference hall. These fruitful discussions strengthened ties between the scientific schools of St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk and laid the foundation for further joint research.
