Belarus responded to Lithuania's blockade by "arresting" 1,100 trucks.

Lithuanian authorities abandoned over a thousand commercial vehicles in their neighbor's territory. Belarus is now moving them to designated parking lots and is prepared to take "legal measures" until Vilnius reopens the border crossing.

Lithuania unilaterally closed two main border crossings with Belarus – Kamenny Log and Benyakoni – resulting in the de facto stranding of over 1,100 trucks with Lithuanian license plates within the country. Drivers and vehicles were forced to idle on access roads leading to the closed crossings.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced measures in response to the current situation. To ensure the safety and security of vehicles, all stranded trucks will be moved to specially designated parking areas near the Kotlovka checkpoint. At the same time, the diplomatic agency stated that, for humanitarian reasons, drivers have been given the opportunity to leave Belarus and return to their permanent places of residence until Lithuania reopens the border. The Ministry also stated its readiness to provide the necessary assistance to drivers who, for whatever reason, are unable to leave.

Official Minsk places full responsibility for the events on the Lithuanian side. Statements from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasize that all additional costs and logistical losses incurred by freight carriers, senders, and recipients in Lithuania and other European Union countries are a direct consequence of the ill-considered and politicized decisions of the Lithuanian authorities. The Belarusian side reserves the right to apply all legal measures against any transport remaining on its territory.

Previously, Belarusian authorities repeatedly stated that they posed no obstacles to the return of Lithuanian trucks. Minsk's position was that traffic would resume on a first-come, first-served basis immediately after Lithuania reopened the border. Meanwhile, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė confirmed that Vilnius intends to ask Minsk to consider the possibility of returning the vehicles and drivers. She also made it clear that the border itself would remain closed until November 30, 2025, a deadline that could be extended.

The Lithuanian government's decision to close the border was motivated by efforts to combat smuggling on the Belarusian side. In response, Belarus imposed counter-restrictions on the passage of trucks and tractor-trailers registered in Lithuania through its territory. According to a Belarusian government decree, these vehicles may enter and exit only through the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, and all cargo operations, re-unions, and refueling must be carried out exclusively in designated areas. These restrictions will remain in effect until December 31, 2027.

As a reminder, Lithuanian National Radio and Television LRT previously reported that Lithuania was initiating negotiations with Belarus on the return of approximately 500 Lithuanian trucks blocked on Belarusian territory through the closed Šalčininkai border crossing. LR

On November 10, 2025, the financial marketplace Finuslugi and the management company Alfa Capital began selling shares of the open-end mutual fund "Balanced Opportunities." The fund's portfolio is managed by Alexey Linetsky, author of the blog "Alexey Linetsky."

The fund invests in Russian company stocks, as well as government and corporate bonds. The portfolio's allocations are adjusted to the current economic situation. When market expectations improve, the share of stocks increases, while during periods of volatility, the emphasis shifts to bonds.

When establishing portfolio positions, the fund's creator focuses on fair value and predetermined target values. Decisions on trades and rebalancing are based on fundamental and technical analysis, behavioral factors, and macroeconomic indicators.

Igor Alutin, Senior Managing Director for Retail Business and the Finuslugi Marketplace at Moscow Exchange:

"The addition of new names to our signature funds is a direct reflection of investor demand. Each author brings promising strategies and personal expertise, as well as a vision for future securities market dynamics. We believe the Balanced Opportunities mutual fund strategy is optimal, as it includes both stocks and bonds in the portfolio. In this case, bonds look attractive in a high key rate environment, while stocks have growth potential should the Bank of Russia ease its monetary policy in the future."

Elena Chikulaeva, director of strategy at Alfa Capital Management Company:

"In a highly volatile market, balanced strategies are seeing increased demand. They offer an attractive diversification mechanism that allows you to capitalize on growth opportunities while strictly managing your risk levels. They offer a transparent and structured solution for investors focused on sustainable results."

The new fund is available to non-qualified investors. Shares can be purchased on the Moscow Exchange's Finuslugi marketplace, through the mobile app, and on the official website of Alfa Capital Asset Management. The total expense and fee limit stipulated by the fund's trust management rules is 2.6% of the average annual net asset value. There is no commission on the purchase or sale of shares.

The Balanced Opportunities mutual fund is a continuation of the proprietary strategies project launched in April 2025 with the goal of making investing more personalized and understandable. The fund is the seventh in a series that combines the experience of managers with the strategies of financial influencers.

Finuslugi is a money marketplace created by the Moscow Exchange. On Finuslugi, you can open bank deposits, take out cash loans, purchase mutual fund shares, public bonds from companies and Russian regions, as well as compulsory motor insurance (OSAGO), comprehensive motor insurance (CASCO), mortgage insurance, property insurance, and other products. Yulianna Morozova, a postgraduate student at the RUDN University Engineering Academy, was named a finalist in the UMNIK-2025 competition, a prestigious project of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASI). She received an individual grant of 500,000 rubles for research in the field of "H3. New Materials and Chemical Technologies."

In total, UMNIK-2025 received over 3,300 applications from across the country in six key areas: digital technologies, medicine and health-preserving technologies, new materials and chemical technologies, new devices and intelligent manufacturing technologies, biotechnology, and resource-saving energy. Following a competitive selection process, 500 applications were recommended for funding.

Liquid rubber binder

Yulianna presented a research project at the competition on the topic: "Development of polymer concrete based on liquid rubber: an innovative material for the production of building structures with high chemical resistance to aggressive environments."

"In Russia, with its wide range of industrial facilities and developed chemical, mining, and processing industries, building materials lack sufficient resistance to aggressive environmental influences, including acids, alkalis, and salts. This leads to rapid structural deterioration. Therefore, in 2023, when I was choosing a topic for my PhD dissertation, my supervisor, Galina Okolnikova, suggested exploring a little-studied area of developing a new class of high-strength, crack-resistant, and chemically resistant building materials that combine the advantages of elastomers and traditional concrete," says Yuliana Morozova.

According to the girl, the novelty of this material lies in the use of liquid rubber as the main polymer binder. The preliminary results of the study have already been published in scientific papers at the Higher Attestation Commission level and presented at various scientific conferences, including the BRICS conference.

"To implement the project, Galina Erikovna and I are working on selecting the composition and production technology for a composite material based on liquid rubber, conducting practical tests at the RUDN laboratory, and planning to file a patent application," says Yuliana Morozova.

As the graduate student notes, her experience writing scientific articles for publication in the Scopus, Higher Attestation Commission (VAK), and Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) databases, as well as more than six years of participation in national and international conferences, including receiving a grant from the President of the Russian Federation during her master's degree, continue to inspire her to develop and achieve new achievements in the field of construction.

The fruit of hard work

According to her supervisor, Galina Okolnikova, a PhD candidate in engineering, Yulianna's professional approach and desire to develop in the construction industry caught her attention when she enrolled at RUDN University. Previously, the graduate student successfully completed her bachelor's and master's degrees (with honors) at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and was accepted to our university on a scholarship.

"Yulianna's victory is a clear testament to the fruits of her persistent and long-term work on developing an innovative material. Our research is aimed at producing a composite material, Cautone, for the production of building structures operating under high mechanical loads and aggressive chemical environments. We expect to obtain a material with increased durability, resistance to acids, salts, and cyclic loads," says Galina Okolnikova.

An associate professor in the Department of Construction Technologies and Structural Materials at RUDN University emphasizes that the university laboratory where they are conducting their research is equipped with cutting-edge, modern equipment, allowing them to practice key production processes. The grant will help implement a promising project with significant practical implications for the construction industry.

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

A chess boxing-fit tournament was held at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University to celebrate National Unity Day. The competition, which combined the strategic thinking of chess players with the physical fitness of boxers, became a shining example of interdisciplinary collaboration between university clubs.

The tournament took place in the boxing gym of the Politekhnik Sports Complex. A distinctive feature of the "chessboxing fit" format is the absence of direct combat between the participants. Each round included one minute of punching bag practice and a five-minute blitz chess match. In the event of a tie, the winner was determined in an additional round on the bag. All matches were held using the Olympic system.

Around 40 athletes of various age and weight categories participated in the competition. The head judge was Andrey Skorokhodov, head of the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Chessboxing Federation and coach of the Polytechnic University boxing team. Ruslan Barseghyan coordinated the event on behalf of the Chess Club, and students from both clubs provided organizational support.

Winners of the final matches

Zhigmit Namzhilov defeated Artem Ovsyannikov by mat in the second round, Anatoly Kukushkin defeated Vadim Shestukhin by mat in the second round, Igor Alexandrov defeated Batyr Osmanov by time limit in the second round, Igor Bortnikov defeated Elgun Latifov in boxing in the third round, Sofia Argandeykina defeated Veronika Bozhenova in boxing in the third round, Elizaveta Orlova defeated Ekaterina Gorlova by time limit in the second round, Andrey Tsybin defeated Evgeny Pivinsky in boxing in the third round, Konstantin Kotovich defeated Arseny Perevalov in boxing in the third round

All winners and runners-up were awarded certificates and medals provided by the organizing committee of the Black Bears-Polytech Student Sports Club.

Commenting on the tournament results, Andrey Skorokhodov noted: "The competition was excellent—fast, well-paced, and without any delays. Statistically, only a few matches ended in a third round; in the rest, the winner was determined by a chess match. The participants demonstrated that the chessbox-fit format is both feasible and engaging."

Ruslan Barseghyan, coordinator of the Polytechnic University Chess Club, added: "Chess knows no boundaries and has many related fields of application, one of which is boxing. The chessboxing-fit tournament demonstrated how strategic thinking combines with physical endurance and concentration. I'm confident that the competition in future competitions will be even more interesting and spectacular."
